The Singer's Dilemma, chapter 3

Kelsey stared at him blankly. Billie Joe was still staring at the ground.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." Kelsey still didn't know what to say. This wasn't what she expected at all.
Finally she broke the silence and said, "It's a little late for that Billie Joe." He nodded. Out of now where Billie Joe kissed Kelsey. Then they heard a sob. Billie Joe's eyes opened wide.
"Adrienne?" Billie Joe asked. They waited a minute.

Then they heard a quiet, "Yes?" It was Adrienne. She seemed to appear out of nowhere. "Um I better go..." Kelsey said.
"Wait, no, Kelsey," said Billie Joe. "We need to talk about this," he paused. "with Adie." Kelsey wasn't to sure about this but she agreed. Adie sniffled.
"What's there to talk about?" Adie asked. Kelsey looked at Billie Joe as if to say "what is there to talk about?"
"That kiss meant nothing, Adie, I swear." When Billie Joe said that Kelsey felt a knot in her stomach, but didn't know why.
Adie looked at him. "You swear?"
"Yep," he answered a little too quickly. Kelsey forced a smile.
"So everything is ok between us now or what?"
"Of course!" Adie answered cheerfully.
"Ok," said Kelsey said and then turned to leave.

"Wait!" said Billie Joe. "Why do you keep trying to leave?"
"I need to, um, call my house and check up on my daughter," Kelsey said, although the real answer was that she wanted to get away from Billie Joe and Adie.
"Ok, but we need to stay in touch. How about this, I'll meet you around twelve tomorrow at my hotel? We can go out for lunch."
"God, I can't get away from him, can I?" Kelsey thought. Before Kelsey could respond to the question, Billie Joe asked Adrienne for a pen. She took one out of her purse and Billie Joe wrote an address on her hand.
"That's the address to my hotel. I'm in room 123," he said. As if he thought Kelsey would reject this invitation he turned around and quickly walked away, taking Adrienne with him.

Kelsey turned around and started to walk away. But once again someone appeared from out of now where and hugged her.
"Hi Tre," she said, laughing.
"HI Kelsey! I thought I would never see you again! How are you?"
"Fine."
"That's good," he said, then looked at her with a very serious face.
"What?" Kelsey asked. Tre looked her in the eyes.
"You know, Kelsey, we all love you, but really you need to leave. What I mean is no good is coming from you being here or is ever going to come from you being here. Billie Joe loves you and Adrienne both. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Billie Joe needs to forget about you...or at least try to." Kelsey couldn't believe Tre was saying this. He was always like a brother to her. Now he wanted her to leave. Kelsey had to hold back the tears. Tre walked away. She stood there for about five minutes then left.

As soon as Kelsey got home she went to bed and cried. She couldn't believe that those few minutes talking to Billie Joe and Tre could affect her life this much. Kelsey knew how true what Tre said was, but her heart didn't want to believe that. She did love him. The only man she had ever loved had loved someone else too. Kelsey felt like her whole body was numb. She needed to feel something so she went into the bathroom and took out a razor.....
