The Singer's Dilemma, chapter 6
When they finished eating Adrienne dropped Kelsey off at her her hotel. But on the way they saw a kitten. A tiny black and white kitten. Adrienne pulled over and grabbed it. "Aww it's so cute!" she said.
Then Adrienne looked at Kelsey. "Billie Joe would never let me keep it." Kelsey looked at her. "And?"
"I can't just leave it here!" Kelsey sighed. Adrienne wanted her to take it. "Well it is kind of cute" Kelsey said making Adrienne smile. "Will you please keep him Kelsey? He's so little!" Kelsey sighed again. "I guess I can keep him."
Adrienne's smile got bigger as she get into the car.
"Bye Adie!" Kelsey said while getting out of the car.
"Bye" Adrienne said. Kelsey walked up the stairs to her hotel room. She could've taken the elevator but a rather large women with three screaming kids about eight years old were already in there. When she got inside of her hotel room she put the kitten down and started packing.
When Kelsey got to the airport she realized she was excited that she was going home. She was excited not only because there wouldn't be the pressure of talking to Billie Joe anymore. At least not in person. When she got home she had to call Adrienne. Adrienne had wanted Kelsey to call her. Maybe they might become good friends. Maybe they already were. Whichever it was Kelsey thought having Adrienne as a friend would be nice. The only thing that bugged Kelsey about Adrienne was that she was Billie Joe's wife. Kelsey didn't know why this bugged her so much. She wasn't jealous. At least that was what she kept telling herself.
On the plane she sat next to a man around 50. He said his wife had just died and he was going to visit his daughter which was 25. "I'm sorry about your loss," Kelsey said when the story was finally over.
He smiled. "It's okay." He assured her. "So do you have a family?"
"Me?" Kelsey asked. He nodded. "Well I have a daughter."
"What about the father?"
Kelsey had hoped he wouldn't ask that question. "Well I left him when I was pregnant."
"Why?"
Kelsey almost started crying because of the memories. Instead of answering his question she asked "Do you know who Green Day is?" He didn't answer for a minute.
"Yeah my daughter that I'm going to visit is a big fan. Why?" She looked at him and said, "The father of my daughter is the lead singer." He looked away from her and looked out the window.
All he said was, "oh." They didn't say anything else to each other.
*Kelsey's House*
"Nicole! I'm home!" Kelsey screamed. "Oh hey mom," Nicole said while running down the stairs. Kelsey walked over to Nicole and gave her a hug. "Oh I almost forgot," Kelsey said while picking up the tiny kitten.
Nicole smiled. "It's so cute! Whose is it?" she asked.
"Yours," Kelsey replied. Nicole took the kitten from her mother and started talking to play with it. She reminded Kelsey of a 5 year old instead of the 13 year old Nicole really was. Kelsey smiled picked up the phone and dialed Adrienne's phone number.
It rang 5 times before Adrienne picked up. "Hello?" asked Adrienne.
"Hey it's me. I just wanted to tell you that I'm home," Kelsey said while watching Nicole play with the kitten.
"That's good," Adrienne said happily. A second later she heard Billie Joe's voice and then Adrienne told Kelsey she needed to go but would call her back later that night.
