A Taste For Suicidal, chapter 8

"Hey Joey, guess what?" Kindra said on our way back from lunch.
"What now..." I mumbled.
"Bailey loves you!" she cheered.
Keith raised his eyebrow. "Huh? When did you hear this?" he asked.
"I was being sarcastic dumbass." she replied.
"Dumbass." Melodie repeated. "Kindra, be nice to the retard!"
"Why should I?"
"'Cause he's a special boy!"
"Shut up!" Keith protested.
I shook my head and kept on walking. We had all forgotten our school books and journals used during classes, so we were probably going to be late. Oh well... , I thought as Keith opened the door to our dorm, It's not like it matters.
When we went inside to get our things I was very surprised to see Seth sitting on one of the beds. But for some reason, I was the only one surprised. I was also the only one that didn't know you could just randomly walk into a dorm.
"Hi guys." Seth greeted us.
"What're you doing here?" Keith asked.
"Just here to get to know you guys." he began.
Keith scuffed. "Sure, and hell froze over today." he joked.
"Really? Amazing... Jackass." he said.
I thought I saw hint of rage flicker through Keith's eyes, but it was gone before I could get a proper look. I was pretty sure they didn't like each other. I mean, who could like someone like that?
Nobody else said anything after that, excluding Kindra, who explained classes and free days to us. She said that we had classes every other day and on the days when we didn't, we were able to spend at our leisure. I liked that system. Free days kicked ass.
Finally she handed us our schedules and we left. I was disappointed to see that the only person with whom I had classes was Seth. Our first class was pretty much rehab in disguise, and our second class was much the same. I had no trouble telling that it was going to be a very, very long first day...

***

"Ahh... The day is finally over." I sighed, laying across my bed.
"Was it not exciting enough for you?" Kindra joked.
"Perhaps too exciting." I told her, truthfully.
She smiled and sat down in the computer chair Keith had abandoned. I turned on the TV as Keith winked and walked over to Melodie, who was thoroughly enjoying her mystery novel. Some how I thought of her as a sixteen year old Estelle. I guess I was a little home sick...
"So what's that book about, Mel?" Keith asked.
She smiled. "Well, there are four kids stuck in a mental home, right? And this one guy won't leave this chick alone. So one night the guy dies in his sleep and they have to find out who killed him." she said.
He winced sarcastically. "Why, Melodie? Why must you be so cruel!" he cried.
He smacked her playfully on the back of her head, then strolled over to and spread out on the bed next to mine. I had a feeling the two of them had a thing for each other. Either that or they really needed a way to kill the time.
It lead me to think about Bailey. She was so pretty and I wished I could get to know her more... Listen to me, I'm making an ass of myself. Allow me to be frank; I'd never had a girlfriend before I went to the home and it was nice to picture Bailey as my first. I knew it'd never happen, but it was still pleasant to dream about...
Around midnight I really had to take a piss. There were no bathrooms in the dorms, which sucked, but they were placed randomly throughout the halls. It seemed like no one else was awake so I was very quiet as I exited.
I stumbled out into the dimly lit hallway, carefully closing the door behind me and gathering my surroundings. It wasn't long before I could pick out the location of one of the bathrooms and I started in it's direction.
I knocked, and assuming no one was in there, twisted the knob and opened the door. As soon as I did I slammed it shut. What the fuck! , I thought as I caught my breath. Then I slowly opened the door again.
".. Bailey...?" I whispered.
"Who is it?" she demanded.
"It's Joseph." I replied.
There was a silence. "Come in here noob." she said.
I followed her order and walked inside. She was sitting on the counter. She had some sort of blade to her wrist with blood pouring down her arm, collecting into a neat little puddle on the tiled floor below. No wonder she'd been there for six years.
"Tell anyone and I'll kill you." she growled, threatening me with what I now recognized as one of the plastic lunch spoons snapped in half.
"I... Erm..." I stammered.
"If anyone asks, my tampon leaked. Got it?" she barked.
"Uhh..." I wanted to impress her, but was thoroughly disgusted by what she had said. "Sure."
She smiled and put the home-made blade away. "You're alright, rockstar." she told me.
Then she kissed me on the cheek and left the bathroom.
