At The Library, chapter 6
-In School-
‘I guess I’ll see you later than’, Pip said, saying goodbye to Billie as she walked off to her locker. On the way there, she bumped into her friend Maria. They exchanged small talk before they walked off to their first class of History.
‘So who was the new kid walking in with you?’, Maria asked.
‘Oh just a friend’, Pip told her walking into room 204. Maria purposely nudged her wanting to know the truth.
‘What no really, he’s just a guy I know’, Pip told her seriously. Maria winked at her, before they took their seats and waited for the teacher to come.
-Recess-
‘So, Maria do yo like wanna come for lunch or something we’re having it at the skate ramps’, Pip told her, walking out of class. The two girls met up with Mike and Billie on the way out as they walked off to the back of the school.
‘How was History?’, Mike asked sarcastically. He knew that the girls we’re either always in trouble for that class or either sleeping in the back row.
‘Yeah it wasn’t too bad’, Maria told him, rolling her eyes.
‘Yeah, but your brother wasn’t there Billie-Joe’, Pip told him, sadly, ‘I was expecting him to come, but he never showed up’. She leaned back against the tree they were sitting under looking disappointed.
‘Its alright, I guess he’ll show up eventually’, Billie told her, shifting in his seat nervously. He wondered were his brother was, but didn’t want to worry Pip, and get her worked up over it.
The two sat in silence for a while, being interrupted by the ‘couple’ sitting with them.
‘Oh get a god damn room’, Pip yelled at them, throwing Maria’s bag to stop them.
‘Like you wouldn’t be all lovey-dovey if Tre was here?’, Mike said in defence.
‘What? We so wouldn’t be’, Pip said, noticing that Billie was getting a little upset since he and Tre weren’t talking still. She decided to try end what was being said.
‘Come on Billie, let’s leave the two lovebirds alone’, she said, getting up and leading Billie off.
‘How longs he liked her?’, Maria asked Mike, quietly as the pair left. Mike put his arm around her, and whispered her the answer.
‘A fair while now’, he told her, kissing her continually. Maria smiled and kept the affection going between them for all of lunch.
*Meanwhile with Billie-Joe and Pip –behind the library-*
‘Did you bring your stash?’, she asked him, curiously as she checked his pockets. Billie-Joe let Pip’s fingers slide down the sides of this pants and waited both patiently and nervously as he felt her feeling around.
‘Yeah, I did’, he told her, pulling a small bag from his back pocket. Pip smiled and him, and removed her hangs from where they were. Billie took a deep breath in slowly after wishing he hadn’t of told her to quickly his answer. She took the bag from his hang and pulled out two joints. One for each of them.
‘Do you have your lighter? I forgot mine in my locker’, she explained to him. He wondered with what he should say to her in reply before he actually spoke his words.
‘It’s just tucked under the back of my belt’, he told her, wondering what she would do next. Pip put her arms to the back of him, lifted his belt carefully and slid the lighter out. She placed one joint in his mouth and one in her own and lighted them up; putting the lighter in Billie’s front pocket once she was done.
‘Thanks for this. I’ll repay you’, she told him, sliding her back down the library wall and sitting on the pavement under the back window. Billie did the same and exhaled before he sat down.
‘Don’t worry about it. It’s just a joint’, he told her, wondering if he could do anything to give her a clue of how he felt about her.
‘No, its more than that. You’re like a lifesaver. I haven’t had one in a while’, she told him, sitting a little closer to him so that no-one who came to the window could see her. Billie though took this differently.
‘You know you really shouldn’t do this stuff’, he told her, looking at her again. He took the joint from her mouth and held it for a moment.
‘And you’re the one telling me this’, she responded to him, ‘Come on Billie, you’ve been doing this far longer than I ever have’, she told him, leaning over to take it from him. He pulled his arm back so that she misses, making her go for it again.
‘Billie, give me the god damn joint. One in the past 3 weeks is not going to hurt me’, she told him, looking into his eyes. He lost himself in some kind of trance for a while allowing her to snatch it off him. She put it back in her mouth.
‘Ahhh, Billie don’t put your hand up like that, the shadow looks like there’s someone behind us’, she told him giggling herself to pieces.
‘That’s because there is someone behind you’, the voice murmered..
