The next day at school was a giant rat race. Tre, Mike and Billie Joe, were all trying to get to Jovie to see who could carry out their plan first. All day at school, they never got a chance, between Mike and Tre trying to convince the loves of their lives to go to the prom with them, and Billie, trying to even make eye contact with Jovie. It was to be a very close call indeed.
While they were walking the girls home from school was about the only time the guys could put their plan into action...after Zooey and Emily went home of course.
"All I'm sayin," countinued a clueless Zooey, "is that there is just no way tin hell that it could happen!"
Jovie, no idea to what the guys were about to ask her, rolled her eyes, "Yes, Zoegirl, that is very possible. Look it happened to Emers."
Emily, also no idea, shouted, "Hey, I did not sprout overnight! My humps are all natural thank you very much."
Billie Joe looked at Emily, confused, "Um, Em, your...."'
"My humps."
"Is that what you call your-"
"Yes." interuppeted Jovie, anxious to change the subject while the guys were around.
Zooey smiled and looked at her big sister, "Oh be sure to water 'em tonight Em!"
Emily glared at her, "Go striaght to hell Zooey!"
Tre stepped in between them and laughed, "Alright girls, now, now."
Jovie stepped away from Zooey and Emily, and stood next to Mike. He smiled.
"Jovs," he said, "so is it or is it not possible?"
Jovie gave him a dirty look, "I'm saying that just because Ms. Posinger seems to have experienced a rather large growth spurt...over the course of one day, does not mean she had implants."
Billie Joe laughed. "Right...."
Zooey smiled at both of them and then stopped, "This is our turn, we'll see you guys tomorrow."
As soon as she said that she grabbed Jovie by the arm and jerked her to the side.
"Ow," said Jovie confused.
"Look," explained Zooey, "I wanna know whatever it is that they are going to talk to you about."
"Why?"'
Emily leaned in, "Just trust us, okay?"
"Why?"
They both told her to go back and they pushed her, "Go!" then they looked at the guys, "Hey, be careful! Don't talk about us, because we will know!" and they skipped up the stairs to their mansion.
Jovie was really confused now, what was up with Em and Zo, and more importantly, the guys, they had not said anything to her, why were the girls so worried. Maybe they were just paranoid.
"Jovie." said Tre suddenly.
Jovie jumped, "What is it?"
Jovs, I need to ask you something." said Mike.
"Okay?"
Billie Joe grabbed her arm really tight and jerked her to where she was facing him, "Jovie please listen to me."
Jovie rubbed her arm in pain, he really had hurt him, but she would never tell him that, because of the look on his face. The look was that of desperation, sadness, longing and.......love, she was so moved, she almost cried.
"Will you-" he tried to ask, then Tre interuppted him.
"Go to the-" Mike interrupted him.
"Prom with me?"
Jovie stood there for a moment, trying to figure out what has just happened. She was so confused by their action she had to have Mike repeat them.
"Mike, please tell me what you guys were all trying to tell me. Please?"
He smirked, "Will you go to the prom with me?"
Jovie got quiet. She was quiet for a really long time, until-
"Ha Ha!" she laughed out loud. It was a joke! She knew it.
Tre looked at her angerily, "What?"
"You guys are funny! You- You really had me there for a second, really."
They all looked at each other and at Jovie, "We aren't kidding."
Jovie, finally able to stop laughing, said, "Reallly?"
"Really."
She knew they were joking, but if they were going to play this way then she'll just play right along with them.
"Okay, " she said, looking at her best friends, "Since you guys are all my best friends and I love you so much I'll make you a deal."
They looked at her as she continued, "Whoever is the first to get to my house and ring the doorbell is the one that can take me to the prom."
They all smiled amongst themselves, it was on now.
"Does that sound fair?"
They nodded at her.
"Good, I'll see you tomorrow." and she walked up to her house. The guys smiled at each other, the compition was on!
