"Jovie!" Yelled Jason from upstairs, "Don't forget that I am speaking to your date before you leave for the prom!"
Jovie tried frantically to think of something smart to say to get her out of this mess, she was in serious trouble and if her dad found out, he would kill her!
"Uh, Dad, we are already late for the prom, and I really don't want to be out any later than I have to be, so......could we just postpone this chance meeting until some other time?"
"No."
"Well, you know that I am fully against sex and giving it up to someone that you don't know is necessarily the one and all, so I really don't see why you feel the need to talk to him at all."
"Very funny, Jovie Marie Ramone, I am meeting this guy, not because I don't trust you, but because I can tell by the look in the guy's eyes what his intentions are."
"But dad-"
"Now!"
Jovie opened the door, and let Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre in the house. They all stared at her for a moment, observing her beauty and taking it all in before they knew she would have to choose. They all began to talk at once.
"Jovie I got here first!" said Tre.
"He's lying!" shouted Mike.
"Please take me Jovs, please." Begged Billie Joe.
She knew automatically that this was going to be harder than she thought. She loved all three of them, but in a diffrent way, and as hard as it was to act like she thought of Billie Joe as a brother, it was awefully hard to turn down that look on his face, or at least pretend she didn't see it.
"Look," she tried to explain.
"I knew it!" said Billie Joe, "You are not going to go with me! You hate me don't you! Don't you?"
Jovie felt her heart start to break, "No Billie, I need to talk to all three of you."
They all paused and went quiet. They were very curious to know what it was she was going to say. Would it be Mike, who was like a brother to her and looked after her and she defended? Tre, who could always make her laugh? Or Billie Joe, who, as much as she will deny it and be mean to him to cover her tracks, is so in love with her it shows? It was all a close call. But she knew exactly what to do.
"I promised you that whoever got to my house first, and rang the doorbell first, would get to take me to the prom. I must confess, I did not expect this at all, and I am sorry. Furthermore, a promise is a promise."
They all scratched their heads, and let her finish. "You are all going to take me and that is final."
"What!" They all screamed.
"Yes. My dad and my uncles want to meet you. Let's go explain it to him. Come on."
After all the explanations, and after Jason and Joey, and Dee Dee talked to all three of them they were all on their way.
"I love you dad, love you too guys!"
"We love you too, have fun!"
When they knew they were gone Dee Dee and Joey set in.
"Jas," said Joey, "it is gonna be a weird night for our niece."
"Yeah, " agreed Dee Dee, "they all looked honorable though. I think she'll have fun."
"Me too."
Now it was Jason's turn to talk. "Look, I know that I was kind and rough at the same time, but, I think I may have made a mistake."
Joey looked confused, "What do you mean? If you saw something bad, why did you let her go?"
"Who was it?" asked Dee Dee.
Jason looked at his brothers, "Billie Joe."
"What was wrong with him? He seemed nice."
"You know the look in a young man's eyes, where no matter what they say they are going to do, they'll do the opposite?"
"Yeah." They both agreed.
"There was something like that in Billie's eyes tonight. But he looked like he wanted something that he could never have."
"What?" Asked Joey.
"He looked like he wanted my daughter in more ways than just sex, he looked like I did the first moment I met Ramona. He looked like he really loved her."
"Do you think she loves him?" Asked Ramona, stepping in from the other room.
Jason put his arm around his young wife and sighed. "Yes, but she looks like she is being really hard on him and hurting him. And that is going to add up soon, and I can't protect her for very long."
Jovie tried frantically to think of something smart to say to get her out of this mess, she was in serious trouble and if her dad found out, he would kill her!
