Jovie, Billie Joe, Mike and Tre, could not think of anything to talk about amongst themselves, because they were all very nervous. Tre, because he would have to explain it to Zooey and he wanted tonight to be the night for him and her. They both wanted their first time to be with each other. Mike knew that his chances were good too. Him and Em, were saving themselves for each other since forever. He also knew that Emily would kick his ass if he pulled anything stupid, which he was not going to do, if he could help it.
Billie Joe and Jovie were both really nervous around each other, because they were both very much in love with each other since the first moment they met, and he wanted tonight to be the night, but somehow, there were serious doubts. Jovie, thought she would never admit it, wanted it to be the night too, maybe it would. She hoped so.
"Jovs?" asked Tre.
"Yep?"
"Why are you dressed up as Madonna for the prom? You said you hated her."
"You can hate someone and admire their fashion statements." she stated.
"You confuse me. I came up with an idea for the dance."
"Really?"
"Yep."
"What?"
Billie Joe and Mike had actually heard this idea and agreed, that for once, Tre was brilliant after all.
"Well," began Tre, smiling. "I thought I would dance with you to a fast song."
Jovie, confused, responded, "Is that all? Okay."
"No, that's not all."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Well, you asshole, you have my attention now, so what's the rest of the plan?"
"Mike gets the upbeat song..."
"And..."
"Bill over here, he gets the slow song."
Jovie paused. Sounded okay to her, but she wanted them to think that she had a problem with it, just to see what he would say to her.
"Oh, okay..."
"Why, what's wrong?" asked Billie, sadly.
"Oh, nothing, nothing at all..."
And they remained quiet the entire way there.
As soon as Jovie set foot into the Pinole Valley High Gym, she got all kinds of dirty looks, from all kinds of jealous girls. She smiled at them and laughed it off.
Jovie looked around to find Zooey and Emily and couldn't find them anywhere, but she knew Tre would.
"Tre," asked Jovie, "where is Zoegirl and Emers?"
He smiled, "I wish I knew, cause if their outfits are as original as yours, then you guys are going to be the hottest chicks here!"
She smiled. Just as she turned to get some punch, Zooey grabbed her and pulled her aside.
"Whore!" she screamed, happily. Her outfit(the same as Romy White's in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, hair extensions and all, but lack of chest size. ) was outrageous!
Jovie looked at her best friend in confusion, "Are you wearing hair extensions?"
Zooey smiled and nodded, "Did you cut your hair? Or are you wearing a wig?"
Now it was Jovie's turn to smile, "Yep. Hey, where is Em?"
"Oh my god, she is wearing the same outfit as Madonna on the cover of 'like a virgin' but she has the cones on her boobs and she already has the killer body anyway so... You can imagine how hot she looks."
"Figures." Jovie rolled her eyes. "Let's dance."
