Baby-sitting for Green Day!, chapter 5
"Dinner will be ready in 15 minutes." Billie Joe said. I didn't know Billie Joe cooked. Well, you never know.
"Daddy, what's for dinner?" Jakob asked. He seemed very anxious.
"Um... Lasagna." Yum... I can't wait, along with Jakob.
"Me and Adie are gunna go into the kitchen for a bit. We'll call you when the food is done. K?" Wait, so I'm here with the kids... by myself?
"Sure."
"Great! Thanks. You and you, behave. I mean it!" I figured he was talking to Jakob and Joey, when he pointed at them.
After Billie Joe and Adie left, it was just Jakob, Joey, Me, and the silence. It was really weird so I decided to ask them some things. But first I introduced myself, you know, told them who I was and that I wasn't going to eat them alive.
"Hi. I'm Maxine. Uh, I'm your new baby-sitter, except you aren't babies. I'm just here to wa-"
"Yea, we get the point. You seem cool, I guess. What do you think Jakob?" Aww, Joey was so nice.
"Yea, sure. As long as you're not mean." Jakob said.
"Well, you don't have to worry about that. I'm very nice. So, do you guys like New York City?" I didn't really know where this was going to go.
Joey started talking, "Yea, it's real cool. There's so much to do, and you never get bored. So much better than Oakland." Interesting, I would rather be in Oakland.
"I like the giant toy stores with the big dinosaurs!" he was talking about Toys R' Us. I love little kids, especially at this age. I couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughin' at?" Jakob asked.
"Nothing, it's not important." I looked at Joey; he understood why I was laughing. He just laughed and rolled his eyes. He is one cool kid.
"Have you met any new friends yet? Are their any kids who live around here?"
"I don't know. We haven't really "looked" around yet." Said Joey. "I guess you are the first. Consider yourself lucky." He smiled. Yea, I guess I am really lucky. I mean, I met Billie Joe and his family, and Green Day, in one day. Its not something you can say very often. And they are all very nice.
"Yea, I am." I smiled back.
All of a sudden, something caught my eye on the t.v. I guess while Joey and I were talking, Jakob turned it on. Joey looked too. Soon, we were all lost in the television. I guess we lost track of time. I heard Billie Joe's voice,
"DINNER! Everybody, come sit at the table!" He has a loud voice, probably with all that yelling and singing he does on stage. Me, Jakob, and Joey got up. Jakob starting running to the table screaming,
"I want to sit in my seat! It's mine!"
Joey had to show me where it was because I didn't know where anything was anyway. He led me to where everyone was sitting. Wow, the lasagna looked really good. When I sat down, to where Billie Joe pointed, Adie took my plate and put a big piece of lasagna on it.
"What do you want to drink? We have milk, root beer, coke, and water."
"Uh... I'll have milk. I love milk." That was weird. I just told them I loved milk. What ever.
"K. what about you two?" he was such a good father.
"I'll have milk too!" Jakob said.
"I'll take a beer." What? Did I just hear beer?
"Alrightey then." Billie Joe went to the fridge and poured two glasses of milk. Then as he was putting the milk back, he pulled out a bottle of root beer. Ohhh! I feel so stupid.
As soon as Billie Joe sat down, everyone started to eat. Mm... it was delicious.
"How do you like the lasagna, Maxine?" Adie asked.
"Mm... it's really good. Did you or Billie Joe make it?" Stupid question.
"I did. I'm glad you like it. Its one of my specialties." Billie Joe said.
"Wow, you can sing, play guitar, and cook. Pretty cool." K, now I was just being myself, that's good. At least I wasn't nervous anymore.
"So where do you live? Around here or... " Adie asked me.
"Um... I live on 25th and 3rd."
"Oh, that's kinda close to here." I guess it was. Cool.
"Yea. So when did you move here?"
"Just 3 months ago. I came here for a little vacation with Mike and Tre, and we loved it. I started looking for apartments here for when ever we came and then the whole plans changed and we just decided it was time for a change. So we moved here."
"Wow. That's really... interesting." Ha Ha Ha, interesting? Try the best thing ever!!
"Yea. We really like it, right?"
Everyone just laughed. I smiled. The conversations continued for a bit. I was hoping we wouldn't get to they subject of music, and my obsession with Billie Joe's band, Green Day. They don't know that yet. Hopefully they won't ever find out.
"Where do you go to school?"
"Well, in the fall, when school starts again, I'm gunna be going to LaGuardia High School. Have you heard of it?"
"OH MY GOSH! Is that the "FAME" school?" Billie Joe asked.
I laughed a little. "Yea, that one."
"That's so cool! What did you get in for?" oh god.
"Uh... I play the bass." my heart was pounding.
"Are you serious?" he said.
"Yea." I said.
"We got to get a band going! Joey plays guitar, and Jakob wants to play the drums." Oh man. This will be a very interesting summer.
