You're A Blur In My Dead Past, chapter 7
I laid a hand on his cheek and smiled a weak smile. "I'm sorry Mikey, I like him."
He turned away and started fidgeting with his bass, wiping off a stain that wasn't there.
"I wish you would like him less," he muttered.
I sighed and leant back on the couch. "I don't want to start this with you right now Mikey. I'm going home."
I stood up, brushed of my pants and started walking up the stairs. I paused in the kitchen for a little small talk with his mom and I hugged Myla before I left. I stepped outside into the sunshine and closed the front door behind me when I felt it resist. I pulled harder but it would close. I looked behind me to see Mike pulling it open, a sad look on his face.
"Yes?" I asked him, being more rude than I felt like. He just stood there before he stepped outside with me and closed the door.
"Mike?" I asked again.
He took a sudden step towards me and cupped my face with his hands and our lips collided. It took me so off guard that I ended up stepping back before I fell. He kept his grip and I steadied myself. I wrapped my hands around his wrist in preparation to tear his hands away, but that moment never came. Why I didn't try and stop him was beyond me. I felt the passion run through my veins as his soft lips pressed against mine. I knew this was making my decision harder than it had to be, but I couldn't stop the passion that was ever present.
He was the first one to pull away, and when he did, he licked his lips and walked back into the house, leaving me there to ponder over what had just happened. I couldn't just let him leave like that so I followed him up to his room and stormed into it. We said nothing for a few minutes, we seemed to understand the looks we were giving each other, a silent conversation.
"I couldn't just let you walk away from me, I couldn't let you go, not again," he mumbled. Strangely enough, that seemed to answer the question that was forming in my mind. Why?
"Well damn Mike. That didn't make my problem any easier, considering Tre did the exact same thing to me the other day. I don't know what I'm gonna do," I whined, sitting on his bed and pulling my knees up to my chest.
"I want both of you,"
"Why don't you have both of us then?"
"MIKE! I could never do that. Cheat on you with him, and on him with you. It's just, not right."
"I was just joking," he smiled.
I leant towards him and playfully swatted at his shoulder.
"Can I be honest with you Mags?"
"Always."
He bit his lip and took a deep breath. "I don't care who you pick, just as long as you're happy."
I hugged him, I knew that it took a lot of effort for him to say that, and I was grateful. "Thanks Mikey."
"Wait, what time is it?" I asked him, looking around the room for a clock.
"Uhh, almost 2:30, why?"
"Crap, I've gotta get home. My friend Bianca's coming over for the weekend and I haven't seen her in like, forever. Sorry Mike, I've gotta go." I kissed his cheek and ran out of his room.
I made it home just as Bianca was about to knock on the door. I hugged her and invited her in. When I pushed open the door to my room, I saw none other than Tre Cool lying on my bed, while flipping through a magazine I had lying around.
"Tre? What are you doing here? How'd you get in?"
He sat up and looked over Bianca, then back to me. "No one was answering the door, so I walked around to the side and I saw your window was open, so I climbed up."
I slapped my forehead and looked out my window at the damage Tre might have caused. I noticed that a few pieces of the trellis, that was conveniently located under my window, which helped in many of my late night escapes, were snapped in half.
I looked back to say something snarky to Tre but noticed that his glare was fixed on Bianca, and that she looked uncomfortable, very uncomfortable.
"Tre! Stop staring at her, she's not a zoo animal"
Bianca blushed and moved to stand next to me. He snapped back to reality and smiled creepily.
I raised and eyebrow and shoved him off my bed. "Don't you have your own house to mess up?"
"Nope," he smiled again, looking at Bianca.
"Well, go bug Mike or Billie or someone, we've got major girly gossip to dish about, and unless you want to be a part of it, leave."
"Like, I've got sooo much to dish about!" he said, in a girly voice. I simply rolled my eyes, forcing back a giggle and shoved him out of my room, slamming the door behind him.
I turned back to Bianca, who was giggling her head off. "Sorry you had to see that."
"He's cute" I heard her mumble, and I snapped my head around to stare at her.
"TRE?" I practically yelled at her. "Yeah, I totally agree with you." I start to giggle with her.
"So, who are these Mike and Billie people you speak of?"
"Tre's band mates, and my best friends."
"Any of them cute?"
"Both of them," I smiled to myself. "Billie's got to die for eyes, and Mike's just totally sweet. You probably don't remember him; he was the one that moved away just after I met you. "
She simply shrugged and began to ask more about Tre.
"How long have you known Tre?"
"Couple of months, why?"
She smiled her secretive smile, and I knew exactly why she wanted to know.
"You liiiiiike him, don't you?" I poked her.
Tre stood outside the door and listened in to the girls' conversation for a few more minutes before heading over to Billie's to tell him what he had just heard.
"Two girls, damn I'm good," he whispered to himself as he walked down the street.
A few days later, Bianca and I lay out in my backyard next to my pool, basking in the sun's light when three consecutive splashes rung out in the backyard. I sat up and pulled my sunglasses down and saw three heads bobbing in the water, one with blue hair, one with red and one with blonde. Billie, Tre and Mike, go figure.
"Come on in girls, waters nice and warm," Tre beckoned.
Bianca looked over and me and gave me one of those 'let me go have fun' looks. I smiled back at her as she ran and jumped into the pool with the guys. I smiled to myself and gave in as I ran and dove straight into the deep end. I screamed as I was lifted out of the water and tossed back in by Mike, who stood there, laughing and smiling to himself. A few minutes later, I heard Bianca scream as Billie and Tre lifted her up and tossed her right back into the water to.
The three guys then decided to race each other across the pool as I whispered something to Bianca. We made our way over to the end and waited for the boys to swim over here. As they kicked off in the other direction, we grabbed a hold of the bottom of each of their bathing suits and watched them as they swam right out of them. We scrambled out of the pool and stood a few feet away, holding up triumphantly the three trunks we had just snagged.
The three boys stood in the pool, covering themselves and blushing.
"Mags! Give those back!" Mike whined.
I high-fived Bianca as we started laughing. We stopped laughing abruptly as Tre started to get out of the pool and we covered our eyes.
"No one wants to see that Tre!" I yelled.
He started to run towards us, reaching out for his swim trunks, not hiding anything.
"EWWWW!" Bianca and I screamed in unison and ran towards the house, slamming and locking the door behind us.
We heard Billie and Mike's laughter through the door as we leant against it, afraid to look back.
He turned away and started fidgeting with his bass, wiping off a stain that wasn't there.
