I beg you…don’t cry anymore…, chapter 6
The rest of the day passed calmly.
Mike and Willow had most of the last classes together, and they talked almost the whole time.
But Mike kept his promise and didn't speak about the self harming anymore...
The only "special" thing that happened was Willow's reaction when she got to know that Billie was called Two Dollar Bill.
Some kid came up to Mike during one of the recesses.
He looked at Willow for a moment before he said a thing.
"Erhm... Dirnt... Is Two Dollar Bill back in business already?"
"Vince, he's been around the whole summer too! And he's in the van, you know the deal! When I'm here he's there." Mike sighed.
Vince walked away.
And when he was gone Willow started laughing.
"Haha! It sounds like a fucking stripper or whore or a transvestite!" she laughed. "Why is Billie called that?!"
"Ehe...Well...He sells joints for two dollar each... " Mike said.
"Aha! I would have guessed!"
"Huh?"
"Well, both Billie and you and the van smells a little bit of pot. Except the van... It smelled like you two had some serious smoking-parties! For fucks sake it almost smelled like you kept a HUGE stash there!" Willow laughed. "But I didn't dare to ask if you smoked!"
"Do I smell like pot?"
"Hell yeah! You should really hope that non of those drug-dogs find you! They'd go nuts!" Will laughed and just laid down on the ground, still laughing like a maniac with a lot of people just staring at her.
And soon (at the thought of being attacked by a drug-dog) Mike joined her.
After a few minutes, when they finally calmed down, they got up and walked out of the school, still giggling.
They didn't really know where they where going, since they should be in class...
After walking out of the school area Willow noticed this and asked:
"Just asking... Where are we heading?"
"I dunno... But I think we're skipping class." Mike answered and smiled.
"Oh... That's good to know!" she laughed.
"But now when we're kinda free I can show you the town or something."
"Sure, that'd be nice. So I mean, what can you do around here by the way?"
"Uhm... You can... Okay, this place is dull! I mean look over there!" Mike pointed at a wall where someone had spray painted "Bordeo". "This place is kinda dead..."
"Aw... And I hoped it might be a cool place... "
"Well, there's a really cool place that's kinda near... "
"What's that?" she asked and looked up at him (she's kinda short you know).
"There's this place that's located in Berkeley, Gilman Street. But it's just called Gilman... "
"Okay... And that is? What?"
"It's a place where you, and your punk band, can play in front of other punks and other kids that's not... Well those kids that's not like other kids. It's great! But they don't let Sweet Children play... But our drummer is working on it!"
"Who's your drummer?"
"His name's John. He used to be in another band that played at Gilman so he's going to help us to get a gig there!" Mike explained.
As he talked Willow looked at him.
When he talked about Gilman, the band and all that his eyes was glowing.
He loved music... You could see that.
The way he talked, moved, gestured everything showed that he loved it.
Willow smiled.
"Hey! You can come with us this weekend! We're going to see Tré and his band at Saturday. Wanna come?" Mike continued and looked at her.
"Sure! And it's just nice to get outta my home... My mom will be a bitch the whole week so I'll need to re-load outside the house." She sighed. "And I mean... How is your mom? Or... Adoptive mom. Is she nice?"
"She's great! I mean she's nice and she really trust me and all that, and she even let me stay here!"
"Huh? Slow down and repeat. Let you stay? Okay, now I don't get a shit." Willow said and raised her eyebrows.
"Well, the thing is that I don't live at Billie's to get a break from my family or whatever, I live at Billie's as me living by myself. The thing is that last year my mom lost the house and she had to move. But I didn't wanna move! I mean, when I was 10 I got here and I found Billie. He's my best friend! And we have a band and we're really serious about the band so we can't just destroy that, can we? So I stayed. And now I live in Billie's garage and everyone's okay with that. My mom's okay with it, Billie's mom's okay with it, all his siblings are okay with it... " Mike explained as they walked.
"Well, then I'm happy you stayed here!" Willow said and smiled. "Or else I'd probably lie dead in the back of the school now... "
"Hey... I thought you said we wouldn't talk about that... " he said and looked serious at her.
But she didn't answer she just looked around.
"Oh, crap!" she sighed.
"What?"
"This is my house... " she answered and pointed to the white house at their right.
She felt sick at the sight of it.
She just wanted to go and hide.
"Oh... " Mike said. "Well, do you think your mom's home?"
"I guess... I don't think she'll start working til' tomorrow."
And at those words where spoken: her mom came out of the front door.
"Willow Joanne Johnson!" she yelled. "How the hell did you dare to run away like that this morning?! And why aren't you in school? And who is that?"
"Hi, to you too mom... Well Mike this is my mom, Tina. Mom this is my new friend, Mike." Will said, while looking REALLY uncomfortable.
"Hello, Mrs. Tina Johnson!" Mike said in the same happy way he had when introduced himself to Willow some hours ago. "I'm Michael. Or Mike. You may also call me Dirnt."
Tina just looked at him, no knowing what to say.
So Mike continued talking.
"You see, since this is the first day of school we got to quit a bit earlier and since Willow is new I was showing her the town, but we ended up here. And Willow told me and my two best friends that she had a bit of a problem with fixing her room so now I just thought that I might go and take a look at her room so that we can fix paint or whatever."
Still no answer from Tina.
Mike talked really fast and was kinda polite and smiled the whole time.
And Willow was really close to burst out laughing.
"And I think we'll do that now, right Will?" he said and started to walk to the house.
Willow followed him, leaving her mom really confused.
