Biography Of Tre` Cool, chapter 1

Frank Edwin Wright (Trè Cool) was born in Frankfurt Germany, December 9th 1972. Trè, his two older siblings and his father, who was a former Vietnam pilot, moved to The Medecino Mountains in California. When Trè moved into his new house his neighbor was Lawrence Livermore, the owner of Lookout! Records. Trè started taking drum lessons from one of his neighbors. As Trè was having drum lessons, his teacher didn't let him have any cymbals, so he would improve his drumming. Trè decided to quit drum lessons and as soon as he did, he broke into a local music store and stole a set of cymbals and used them like there was no tomorrow.
In 1985 when Trè was twelve, Lawrence Livermore gave Trè the opportunity to join his band "The Lookouts". So from then on Trè was apart of The Lookouts who were becoming quite a successful band. It was Lawrence Livermore who gave Frank Wright the tremendously cool nickname of "Trè Cool" which means "very cool" in French. The Lookouts would have gigs at their local punk club (Gilman Street).
In 1988 Trè played a gig at a high school party for The Lookouts with a new band called Sweet Children (Green Day's former band name). In the following two years The Lookouts and Sweet Children would play together at gigs. In 1990 The Lookouts broke up. Around the same time Sweet Children's drummer, John Kriftmeyer left the band to attend college. That left Billie Joe Armstrong (Guitar/ Vocals) and Mike Dirnt (Bass/Vocals) without a drummer. Billie Joe and Mike looked no further than old Gilman Street veteran, Trè Cool. Trè was now a part of Sweet Children who later changed their name to Green Day.
When Trè was in year ten he decided to drop out of high school and go to a community college where later he passed an equivalency test and earned his GED. Green Day finally went on their first tour around California and Tre's father who owned a small trucking company borrowed an old Bookmobile van and drove them around and Trè then dropped out of college because the demands of Green Day's touring increased.
In 1994 Trè married his girlfriend Lisa Lyons; they had a daughter together called Ramona in January 1995. Later on that year Lisa and Trè divorced because he was spending too much time on his music career. Lisa and Ramona now live in New York.
In 2000 Trè got married again to his long time girlfriend, Claudia, they then had a son together, Frankito (little Frank). In 2003 Trè and Claudia got divorced because he spent too much time on his music career again and going on tours in different countries, but still live together because they want to raise Frankito properly.
Trè went out with Donna. C. (The drummer of the Donnas) but they are no longer together.
Trè has a minor role in song writing, similar to bassist Mike Dirnt; Trè has some songs that he has written. Besides the drums Trè also plays the guitar, the accordion and the church organs.
When Green Day released Kerplunk in 1992 Trè wrote the song "Dominated Love Slave" which was on the album.
In 1993 Green Day signed a contract with a bigger label, Reprise and Warner Brothers records, leaving Lookout! Records behind. In 1994 Green Day released their big hit "Dookie" which sold over 10 millions copies in the U. S. Alone. On Dookie, in the song "Welcome to Paradise", Billie Joe and Trè Cool decided to swap jobs and Trè ended up writing the parts for the guitar while Billie Joe wrote all the parts for the drums. Also on Dookie Trè wrote the hidden song "All By Myself".
On March 11, 1995, the "Bay Area Music Awards" presented Trè Cool with the award for "Outstanding Drummer". In May 1995 the "Circus Poll Results" gave Trè Cool the Award of "Best Drummer". In 1998 at the MTV music awards in Orlando, Florida, Trè was the first and only person to ever climb the Universal Studio Ball (their Trademark).
In 2002 Green Day released an album called "Shenanigans", which featured all of their singles from previous years. One of these singles Trè wrote and called it D. U. I. This song is about getting drunk, driving under the influence and running over old ladies. In this song Trè wrote and played the parts for the accordion.
In 2003, before Green Day released "American Idiot" they wrote and recorded another album, which was about to be released. Green Day was shocked to find one day that the master copy for that album had been stolen. Instead of trying to write and record those songs again they decided to create a whole new album from scratch which we know today as the Punk Rock Opera "American Idiot" which was released on September 21st 2004. This album was and still is huge, selling over 10 million albums worldwide including one album that was sold in Antarctica! Five singles have been released on this album, "American Idiot", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Holiday", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and coming out in November one of the nine minute songs, "Jesus Of Suburbia".
On "American Idiot" the other nine-minute song "Homecoming" is split up into five parts, "The Death of Saint Jimmy", "East 12th St", "Nobody Likes You", "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" and "We're Coming Home Again". The fourth part "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" is written and played on guitar by Trè, it's about his life, children and what he does for a living.
Trè Cool has two other songs that haven't been released on any albums yet, they are called "Food Around The Corner" and "Like a Rat Does Cheese".
On November 14th Green Day are going to release a DVD called "Bullet In A Bible".
Warner Brothers Pictures have decided that they are going to start making "American Idiot" into a movie next year. Trè has also played with other bands like "Screeching Weasels" and "Samiam".
