One Simple Move, chapter 3
I wish I could tell you
But the words would come out wrong
Oh if you only knew
The way I felt for so long.

I sat on the porch strumming my old guitar, Freddie. I had gotten it when I was about 11, Hence the name, and had been playing since then.
I loved it and Green Day were defiantly an inspiration to me. I looked up at the sound of a car door slamming and spotted Tre walking up the driveway, Car keys spinning on his finger. He smiled when he spotted me and I returned the gesture.
It had been just over a week since I moved in with the Armstrong's and I love every minute of it and over that period I have become closer to the three punk rock gods.
"Hey Lauren" He beamed at me before opening the door and walking into the warm house.
I smiled and went back to strumming my guitar when a lyric came into my head.
All of my life I've been in hiding, wishing there was someone just like you.
I grinned before writing it down into the torn up notebook that lay beside me on the porch. I added it to the lyrics that I had done earlier before grabbing a pick from the ground and strumming lightly on the guitar.
That notebook was filled with lyrics that were written years ago. I remember when I had just turned 14 and I started writing. Some songs were about my parents, some about my love life. Just anything that popped into my head. Karen had hated it and had destroyed so many of my songs.
It was the day after my fourteenth birthday and I was sitting in my bedroom surrounded by the presents that my relations had got me.
But none from Karen and none from Karen's family.
I sighed, how nice; I thought opening up yet another present from Aunt Jo.
My eyes widened at the present and I shrieked before jumping up and prancing around on my bed with the present clutched to my chest.
A Green Day notebook.
I squealed once again before plopping down on the bed again.
I opened the first page before running my fingers gently over the clean, new paper.
I spent the rest of the evening thinking of the perfect thing to put in it and careful not to waste it on random 'I love Billie Joe' Pictures.
Grinning I picked up a pen and started writing some lyrics down. After a while I had completed my first song and was more than happy with it.
Picking up Freddie I made up notes to go with it and soon had the perfect song.
But the happiness didn't last long.
"Lauren why are you making that god awful noise?" Karen shouted slamming the door open.
I stopped playing and stared at her. "I wrote a song, why do you care?" I sneered and she snatched the notebook from me. She looked at the lyrics with a sneer on her face before ripping out the used pages.
"Learn to shut up sometimes ok?" And with that she slammed the door again while leaving me a sobbing mess on the bed.
I had never forgiven her for that. Oh speaking of Billie, Things all went shitfaced for him after the fight with Adrienne. He went home the next day with a bunch of roses for her but only to find Adie in bed with another guy. After screaming at her Billie threw the roses at her before stomping out of the house and coming back here, where he screamed and broke things and then cried. He cried all during the night, I could hear him. I went in to check on him once to find him lying face down on the bed with his hands to his eyes and sobbing his poor little heart out.
Billie Joe was heartbroken.
Adrienne then came by the next day to talk to Billie Joe. Ollie and I sat in the kitchen listening to them shout at each other and then the shouting stopped.
Adrienne explained that she had met Rob, the guy in bed, A few months ago when Billie Joe was on tour and she just couldn't help her feelings. They talked about the living arrangements for their two kids, Joey and Jakob. Adrienne would have them on weekdays while Billie would have them on the weekends and on the holidays from school.
It hurt him to see his family break up like this; just like his had done back when he was 10 after his father passed away.
Anyway, that was last week and Billie Joe had cheered up a bit since then. He had moved back in with me and Ollie while he was still searching for a new place to live. Mike and Tre came over every day to check on Billie Joe and make sure he was ok.
I smiled as I felt Ollie's big old cat lie across my torn up converse.
"Aww max" I smiled at the fat cat and it looked up at me with his huge eyes.
The cat was nearly as old as Billie, Ollie had told me many times. It was black with a white patch around on of his eyes.
I shivered as the Californian breeze started to get cooler. I pushed Max off my feet and stood up bringing all my belongings inside. I left the guitar in the living room before heading to the kitchen. I stopped just outside when I heard Billie and Tre's hushed voices.
"Don't tell me you're backing out! You're not right?" I heard Tre whisper to Billie.
"Well yeah... No I'm not ok, but I just think it's wrong, I mean I don't know if I can."
"It's not mean it's a joke! C'mon you do want $500 right? It'll be a laugh!" Tre sighed pushing against the counter again. I watched as Billie ran his fingers through his hair before looking at Tre again.
What are those two on about?
"But not fun for her! Ok fine, I'll do it but I'm blaming you if shit goes wrong!"
The two shared a smile and I picked this time to enter. When I did they both looked at each other before starting to talk about something else.
I grabbed a soda from the fridge before standing next to them.
"What you two chatting 'bout?" I asked and Tre shrugged.
"Nothing much." They both answered and I nodded before leaving them alone again.
But the words would come out wrong
Oh if you only knew
