Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 1

If you saw me a few weeks ago at 9:30pm, you would probably be wondering what I was doing.
I was crouching.
I was crouching behind a rosebush.
I was crouching behind a rosebush in my front yard while spying on Ellen.
Ellen is my mother, she is an alcoholic prostitute, I really dislike her. I have a punk brother Mason, but he is a druggo ( I wont say Im not but lets just keep that to ourselves).

But anyway back to the story.
The reason I am telling you this story is the same reason you are reading it. Something to do, but I just had to get this out in the open, not that I havn't already told anyone and everyone I could (and can) see, but the internet just spreads it even more. It all started on a cold Friday night, at 9:30 pm.
I was in my front yard behind a rosebush spying on my mother, I was attepting to sneak out of my house. I really hate it there, it smells and is dirty, I dont mind the house itself but the way Ellen makes it is absolutely unbearable. I was just thinking about how great it would be to go to a Green day concert, and what I would do there, when my brother Mason came out the door and walked down the driveway. I jumped up and followed him, making sure to stay in his shadow so Ellen wouldn't see me. She was sitting on the verandah smoking and drinking her usual glass of some sort of alcoholic liquid, she was too occupied with the ash on her cigarette to notice my black hair flip behind the fence, right after Mason.
" Amy!" Mason whispered, suddenly stopping so that I ran into him.
"What!" I whispered back, rubbing my head where I had bumped into Mason's shoulder.
" You would never believe what I have!" he said softly, he had an excited gleam in his eyes so I knew something good must have happened.
" Show me and then I will believe you." I said, not quite sure what he was talking about.
He reached one hand into the bag slung over his shoulder and pulled out an envelope. He handed it to me.
"Open it!" he said.
I could tell he was really excited about something so I opened the envelope. I pulled out it's contents and looked at the pieces of thick paper I held in my hand. I read the black printed text in the centre of the papers. GREEN DAY. it read. I knew what they were, my hand started trembling and my heart thumped.
"Mason..." I said, my voice a bit shaky and unsteady"
" Yes Amy," he said " they are what you think they are"
I could see he was trying to contain his excitement and be mature and grown up. Finally I couldn't hold it any longer, I screamed and hugged Mason, so hard that I almost knocked him to the ground.
"Shhh." he said" Not so loud, Ellen will hear."
I studied the tickets in my hand, two passes to the Green Day concert for,.... TOMORROW AFTERNOON!
"These are for tomorrow!" I said
" Thats why we have to leave now." Mason said. " Go inside and get your stuff, I am going to drive us, but I want to get there early so we have enough time to buy some shirts and stuff before we go in"
I ran back up the driveway and inside, not even caring what Ellen would think about me being outside. I grabbed a bag and threw in some clothes, make up, nail polish, paper and a pen. That was all done within a minute and before I knew it I was outside once again. I ran to the end of the driveway and jumped in Mason's car.
"Amy!!!" I heard Ellen's voice call.
I wound down the window.
" We will be back in a few days!" I yelled out the open window. Then I turned to Mason "DRIVE!" I exclaimed.

The trip there was really fun. I made signs out of the paper I took, and decorated it with my red nailpolish and the black pen. I stuck them on the window with bits of my chewing gum, the whole way there, cars full of other punk rockers beeped their horns at us and yelled " Green Day!" out of their windows.

Upon arrival I noticed that we had arrived none too early, the place outside of the Sydney Cricket Ground was already filled with black, red, pink, white and some other bright colours contrasting well with the black. So many people had wicked hairstyles, spikes, mohawks, pink, blue, green, orange, all the colours of hair fitted together to make one very bright salad of punks. There was another two hours until the concert so Mason and I bought two shirts, a bag, a poster, and some badges each. I was about to join the line into the stands when Mason asked where I was going.
" To join the line" I answered " I want to get in early"
" We are over there," he said while pointing to a doorway with a message board above it saying IDIOT ZONE ENTRY ..... TICKETS READY BEFORE ENTRANCE.
" We are idiot zone?" I asked with disbelief
" Yeh," Mason replied "Now make a sign saying that you can play guitar"
I did as he said, I knew why he told me to do it, at every concert Green day pulls people out of the crowd to play their instruments, I had been playing guitar since I was 10 so I was pretty confident, I just wished and hoped that they would choose me out of all the moshers.

We entered through the doorway, putting our tickets through one of the electronic gates like the ones you always see in the train stations. Then we walked through the winding hallway, following the crowd which was streaming out onto the oval. I could feel butterflies bagin to dance in my stomach, thisis going to be so fun! I thought to myself. Mason seemed pretty relaxed, he fitted in well with everyone, so did I, We had been listening to Green Day for a long time and we knew every song, have every album. I felt right at home there, between all those people that were there for the same thing, to see the band they adored. We followed the crowd right until the second lot of gates where my butterflies were squashed and stomped on by a security guard, letting the people in. The reason.
