Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 10
I looked back and saw the plan come into action.
As soon as the guards ran past the stage all three band members leaped into the crowd. It looked as if they fell straight to the ground. We stopped running and walked back to where we had seen Green Day jump into the crowd. They were laying on a pile of men. How they had managed to knock all six to the ground I didn't know, until they got up. I was glad to see that they were fine but the reason they had managed to knock them to the ground was simple, Steve. Steve had leaped on top of them.
"Wont he get fired?" I asked Mason. We carefully walked to the pile of guards still laying on the ground, they looked hurt. It was actually quite comical, six tough guards, laying on the grass. Especially considering that the people who they were supposed to be protecting were the ones who put them in this state.
"I hope not." Mason answered. I agreed. We could see that the band had grown accustomed to having Steve with them, and even though this was one of their last concerts for their American Idiot tour, it would have been great if Steve could come with them on the next one.
We walked a little closer to the band and the guards who were still laying on the ground. The crowd was too shocked to be tugging at Green Day, but still huddled close. I turned to Mike.
"Are they going to be okay?" I asked and looked at the guards.
"Yeh, they are fine." He replied.
"Then why aren't they moving?" Mason asked.
"They are moving Mason." I said, the guards were now trying to get up, their legs were tangled.
"I think they were just a little dazed," Tre' said, a large smile on his face.
The guards got up. One realized that we were standing right in front of them, he anxiously looked at Billie, then back at us.
"You two are under arrest for breaking an entry, unauthorised possesion and you," He said while looking at Mason, "you, are also facing charges on kidnapping."
The crowd gasped,
"KIDNAPPING!" I yelled, "THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!"
The guard looked at me, annoyed. "Anything you say or do may and will be used against you in the court of law."
"Oh, just shut the fuck up." I said and stepped forward.
"Hang on Amy, " Billie said and turned to the guard. "These kids did not do anything, and kidnapping! What kind of charge is that? Are you saying that Mason kidnapped Amy?"
"That is exactly what I am saying." The guard replied.
"I went on my own free will!" I yelled "This is a Green Day concert we are talking about!"
"Amy," Billlie said, "Please."
I shut up and looked at Billie, he shook his head, his face was vey serious and sad. All the guards were up by now and stood behind the guard arresting us. Their faces angry.
"What about arresting us?" Billie Joe asked the guards.
The guard looked at him, "Ummm, you did not do anything." He said, his face going red.
Billie held the microphone to his mouth, I realised he was still holding it.
"Did you hear that?" He asked, his voice echoing around the stadium. He looked around to the audience, his face was on all of the big screens. I realised that the whole crowd had been following the event, if not by sound, then by vision."They want to arrest Mason and Amy but not us, we were the ones that helped them, their partners in crime!"
The crowd yelled, shouts of anger echoed around the stadium.
The crowd started chanting "LET THEM GO, LET THEM GO!"
"But sir," the guard said, "You and your bandmates have not done anything illegal."
"Didn't you just hear me?" he asked. Still speaking into the microphone "We were their partners in crime!"
The crowd went crazy.
"Shhh, Shhh." Billie said and the crowd was quiet, he turned and walked to the stage and climbed on it, the cameras and big screen views following him.
"Let me hear you scream at your loudest!" he yelled.
The noise was deafening. Screams and shouts bounced around the space.
"ALRIGHT!" Billie yelled, he had to say it a few times before the crowd was quiet.
He turned to the guards below and in front of him. "Did you hear that?" They nodded. "That was the noise of 40, 000 fans!" he yelled, the fans started screaming again. "And they are all on our side!" he yelled. Shouts of agreement echoed around the stadium.
"Imagine the riot if you would arrest my friends here." He said and looked at us, I smiled and blushed at the same time. He winked at me.
"It's the law," the guard said. "They did something illegal and therefore should be prosecuted."
"Is showing a 40, 000 strong crowd your privates an offence?" Billie Joe asked, his eyes sparkling and glistening. I noticed that Mike and Tre' had left our side and now stood beside Billie, all three of them smiling mischieviously.
"Yes sir, " The guard said stiffly. "That would be indecent exposure."
"Oh," Billie Joe said, in that case...
The band turned around and started to walk back off the stage walkway onto the stage. The big screen cameras following their every move. They gave up, I thought, the I remembered the looks on their faces and I was suddenly sure that something was about to happen. The guards knew it too as they were shifting around uncomfortably. Steve had a huge smile spread across his face. Suddenly, as they reached the main stage Billie Joe yelled "NOW!" into the microphone. And all three bandmembers pulled down their pants at the same time. The crowd screamed and roared with laughter. The guards faces were shown on the screens, they looked stunned, shocked and angry.
"And now, " Billie said, "This is not completely illegal, but this is!" he said and all three members turned around, their pants still down around their ankles.
