Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 13
Then she remembered something and turned to Mason and I. The thing she said made me even happier than I already felt, could this day get any better? I was about to find out, it would get better, but before it could, it was going to get worse.
" You two," she said and glared at my brother and I. " When you get away from this place and back home, pack your stuff and move out. Mason you take care of Amy. I don't want you two any more, I have had enough!" And with that, she turned and left, I haven't seen her since, and that was three months ago.
It seemed as if Mason and I should be sad that our mother didn't want us, but instead, we felt so happy. We cheered, jumped up and down and hugged each other. Finally we were released from the grasp our evil mother had on us, the curse we had lived with, only having each other. I laughed at my own thoughts, "the curse". I looked up at the stage. The three men looked down on the crowd. The crowd that was there for them, paid to see them. Mike looked over at Mason and I and smiled. We both smiled back, I realised that we had formed a bond with this band, maybe not a strong bond, but a bond that couldn't be denied. A bond that would grow stronger with years to come, and those years will come.
I stood in the bright lights and heat of the mosh pit. Night was falling and the sky was a mixture of orange and dark blue. I was bubbling with excitement, Ellen would finally leave us alone, and we could go and live away from her. I realised how glad I was that Mason was an adult, old enough to live on his own, and to take care of someone younger than him. I was actually looking forward to living with him.
At that exact moment a cold iron barrel held against the side of my head crudely interrupted my thoughts. There was a click near my ear; the gun was ready to be fired. A voice murmured.
" Scream, and you're gone, run, and you're gone, alert the band and demand they see me, or else... you're gone"
I started trembling; i could feel my eyes water. A thousand thoughts shot through my mind at once. How did this fuckhead get in without getting caught, why is he holding the gun against MY temple, why does he want Green day, doesn't he realise that he will NEVER get away with this?
Mason, who was standing in front of me, then turned around. I had seen his expression change from happiness and excitement to fear and horror. 'Amy' his lips moved but no sound came out, he looked at a point above my shoulder, where I figured the man's head must have been. His eyes clouded over, I could see the anger in them. I shook my head, barely noticeable. Mason took one step back; he looked as if though he was ready to attack the man if he did anything.
I heard a scream behind me.
" He has a gun!" someone screamed and I felt the crowd move back, they formed a circle around the man and I, roughly 4 metres in diameter. I realised that they were not about to give up their spots in the mosh pit. These were some die-hard fans.
I looked up at the screen above me; it showed a close up of my face and then a shot of the man and I standing in the midst of the circle. My face was twisted and scared, I finally saw the man who was holding the gun to my head. He was wearing sunglasses and a security uniform, I recognised him.
Big Jonno.
In the words of a great man. My mind was set on overdrive. This man is a guard, and yet, he is here, holding a gun to my head. He wants to see the three men he is supposed to be protecting. I looked up to the stage, those three men were nowhere to be seen. Of course, I thought, they've been evacuated from the grounds. I couldn't believe that Big Jonno hadn't thought of that. I guess this will be the end of Amy Thompson I thought, surprised at my own coldness. Why did I think that? I don't want to die; I have an after party to go to! An after party to a Green Day concert, WITH GREEN DAY!
My eyes noticed movement to the back of the stage; they focused on what seemed like a struggle. Oh No, was the first thing that came to mind. I realised the struggle was between the members of Green Day and two other guards. Sounds of ruffling echoed around the stadium, a few muffled words and then, the voice of Tre'.
" Fuck off man." He said. " We have a friend to save, we don't want to come in your fucking helicopter."
A roar of cheering rumbled around the stadium. I realised that it had been completely quiet once again. The band was not about to leave and give up on us, on me. A tear rolled down my face. These three men had been nicer to me today than Ellen ever had in my life. Green Day ran back onto the stage, their eyes scanned the crowd and focused on Big Jonno and I. Billie held the microphone in his hand, that's how the crowd heard what Tre' said. The men were serious, not joking and funny like they had been when they were mooning, but serious like how Billie Joe had been when we were about to get arrested before.
I just realised how busy this whole day had been. We had arrived at a Green day concert, found out our tickets were fake, hacked into the SCG, met Green Day. They had helped us get into the concert by, making up a plan, which involved causing a mini riot, lying, blackmailing, and stealing. Then Mason and I had been chased around the mosh pit by security guards, then the band and us had almost been arrested but were saved by a little bit of over-indecent exposure, then we had been kicked out of our house by our mother. And now, Green day had just struggled away from safety, to save Mason and I, mainly I, as I was the one with a gun being held to my head. And even though I might have died, I still thought to myself as that day as being the best day in my fifteen yearlong lives.
Billie, Mike and Tre' jumped off the stage and the mosh pit parted where they came through, They stood right in front of Big Jonno and I. Billie spoke into the microphone.
" Please let Amy go, she is a dear friend of ours, we will do what you are asking... what are you asking?"
Big Jonno slightly changed position behind me. " I want to see you, talk in private, and then I want you to do what I ask."
Mike took Billie's microphone" I'm afraid that's not possible," he said.
" I'm afraid that your 'dear friend' will have to be the cost of your ignorance which you seem to be using often you stuck up bastards."
I felt his hand tighten next to my skull; he was about to pull the trigger. Tears streamed down my face.
" I love you!" I screamed. I meant it for everyone, Mason, Billie Joe, Mike, Tre', my friends, Steve, and at that moment, I even meant it for Ellen.
I heard a shot and then everything faded and went black.
" You two," she said and glared at my brother and I. " When you get away from this place and back home, pack your stuff and move out. Mason you take care of Amy. I don't want you two any more, I have had enough!" And with that, she turned and left, I haven't seen her since, and that was three months ago.
