Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 4
"So, what can we do?" Mason said...
"Well..." Tre' replied
"Well, what?" Billie asked.
Tre' laughed "I'm not quite sure yet."
I smiled, this was the best time of my life, I couldn't believe that it was actually happening to me, ME! This was the band I had always been dying to meet, and now I have and they are nicer and funnier than I had ever imagined. They are so fun to hang out with I wished I could do it every day. But this was the only time I knew I would ever be able to so I decided to make the most of it. I looked over at Mike, his face was in a frown, I could tell he was concentrating. Mason looked at me and followed my gaze.
He leaned forward "They are the nicest people I have ever met" he whispered in my ear.
I turned around "I know," I whispered back "They seem so determined to get us in"
"GOT IT!" I heard Mike yell. I quickly turned around, whipping Mason in the face with my hair as I did. I looked at Mike, eager to find out what he had thought of. I could hear Mason's murmers behind me, he was complaining about my hair getting him in the eye but I just ignored him.
" What?" Billie asked Mike, " How can we get them in?"
I couldn't stop smiling, these three men in their thirties, planning a scheme to get a teenager and a young adult into one of their concerts. They sounded just as excited as I felt.
"Well..." Mike said, cheekily gazing around the room at us, his eyes resting on each of us for a moment before moving on. The suspension was unbearable. It may not seem to you that it was "unbearable", but believe me. It was!
"It will involve us breaking into some more SCG rooms and stealing personnel uniforms" he half-smiled, a mischievious grin.
I watched Billie Joe's face, I could tell that Tre' was excited because he was already jumping up and down, proudly boasting about the time he robbed a shop of all it's clothes. Then his face turned sour and he told us about when found out that the "gullable" shopkeeper was actually an old lady, and that the shop was a sort of St. Vinnies and that the proceeds were going to a cancer foundation. He said he returned all the clothes and donated $600 to the shop as an apology.
But anyway, back to Billie's face. It was serious, like he was thinking about the possible outcomes, then, a small smile erupted and spread across his face, getting bigger and bigger until it was almost ear to ear. He looked at me and I smiled back.
"What?" I asked softly.
Tre' suddenly went silent, his shrieks of ecitement interrupted by a suddden curiousity of what Billie Joe had to say. I suddenly understood that the band was extremely sensitive to each other's moods and turned quiet when they knew one of the others had something to say. There is a lot more to this band than, music, hyper, pot, punk, politics and publicity, something barely any other fans had seen before, something deeper and more meaningful.
"Tre', you just read my mind" Mike said "And I think you read Billie's too."
I suddenly understood what they were talking about.
"We are going to dress you up as personnel members" Billie Joe explained, only confirming what I was thinking. "Then we will smuggle you backstage and you can slowly go into the idiot zone from there, then after the show you can come backstage again and come to the after party, just stay as unnoticed as you can, we cant have you getting arrested. Then, we will escort you out safely and we will see what happens then."
I realised I had stopped breathing. I suddenly took a gulp of air and choked on my own saliva, I coughed and spluttered, Tre' laughed at me. I started laughing about half way through a cough and my laugh/cough turned out very strange, which caused Tre' to laugh even more and Mike and Billie Joe to crack up at Tre's infectious laugh.
"We have half an hour until we have to go on" Mike said. "What about make-up and check in?"
"Fuck that!" Billie said " We have to get these two in!"
"Well..." Tre' replied
