Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 5

"Fuck that!" Billie said " We have to get these two in!"

You would expect me to write: The next half an hour was a blur, exciting but too overwhelming to completely remember. But that is not what I am going to write, if you are sick of this retelling, stop now because I haven't finished yet, the following is a complete recalling of the events that happened after the band's decision to get us in, I haven't forgotten a thing, as if I would, nothing is as good as being snuck into a Green Day concert by the band themselves! Let alone being allowed in the after party and... I will keep that a suprise, you will find out later. But anyway, continuing on...

Tre' laughed "Billie, Billie, Billie" he said " Stubborn little Billie Joe Armstrong."

Mike gave Tre' a very confused look, then he looked at us. " That man is always on drugs." he jokingly explained, while indicating that he was talking about Tre'.

I smiled and I could hear Mason softly laugh behind me.

Billie laughed at Tre's comment but then looked at us. " Have you two got cell phones?" he asked.

"Mobile phones?" Mason asked

I turned around, "Duh Mason, don't be so stupid." He pulled a face at me, it was the face I hadn't seen since we were younger, the face he used to pull when Ellen was not looking.

"I do" I said and pulled out my phone.

"Same here" Mason said and pulled out his.

"I thought you fell in the pool with yours?" I asked him.

"I got a new one." He replied.

I suddenly realised we were still in the same room as Billie Joe, Tre' and Mike and quickly turned around.

"Sorry about that." I said.

Mike waved off the apology, "Never mind" he said.

"We are going to have to keep in touch." Billie said.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Well," he replied. " Mike is going to get his make-up done and make up an excuse why I won't be there, then, Tre' is going to cause a riot outside so all the guard will rush outside. Only a few will be left inside, one of whom is Steve." He stepped aside so we could see the bodyguard in the corner, he hadn't moved from when we came in. " Steve!" he called. The guard looked over, a stern expression on his face. " Steve, has been with us on this tour since we left America, he is one of our close friends, aren't you Steve?" he asked.

"If you say so sir." the guard said

"These are just kids Steve," he said " No need to keep up the bodyguard act."

The guard slumped and walked over, " Good," he said, "my back was starting to hurt. So, how can I help?"

I looked at the guard, I was so suprised to see this seemingly tough guard just appear normal to command of the band.

"Steve has to act the bodyguard around other people so he won't get fired." Mike explained " He only took the job so he would get to see Green Day live, when we first met him, in a pub, he told us we had been his favourite band since Dookie. We offered him the security guard job so he could come, he had never seen Green Day live before that, he took the job without he'sitation, and now he has become one of our close friends, but no-one but the band, and now you two, know that Steve has never had any security training, thats why he has to seem professional at all times, except from when he is around us"

"Ahh, right..." I said, suddenly understanding whom Billie Joe had been talking to before he had left the room and entered the corridor in which we had been standing with Mike and Tre'.

"But anyway." Billie continued. " Steve will help us get the personnel uniforms, he will call the guard away from the store room so we can get in." His cheeky little grin was infectious, and I could see Steve was looking forward to this adventure.

I glanced over my shoulder to Mason who was sitting quietly, grinning as if his life depended on it. I could see the same twinkle in his eyes he used to get when we would steal Ellen's chocolate.

I thought about last night, how excited I had been to go and see Green Day, and now, I was sitting here, talking to the band, thinking up a scheme to get us into the concert, and then to the afterparty. I just couldn't believe it, I felt so lucky at that exact moment I thought it was a dream. I pinched myself on the arm, ouch. It's not a dream. I looked up and saw that Mike was looking at me, he saw me pinch my arm. He smiled and I could feel myself blush as I smiled back. The band was so intimidating, but in a good, I know I'm more famous than you but I will still treat you as an equal, kind of way.

"We have no time to lose!" Tre' exclaimed " We have to get these two in and then its time for us to go on!"

"Okay," Billie Joe said, sounding very seriously all of a sudden, his bushy eyebrows raised so high, it seemed that they were about to jump off his face and fly away. " Mike, you go first. Tre', you go a few minutes after, then we will go after we have heard the guards run past."

"Sounds good to me!" Tre' said, jumping up and down with excitement.

Mike nodded and walked out of the door. Tre' tapped his fingers on the table edge until Billie said he could go, then he stormed out of the door, slamming it shut behind him.

I walked to the window, It was one of those one that you can see out of but not into. It also seemed bulletproof, it was so thick. I had a good view of the door we came into, the concrete hallway had wound around in a semi circle, so I watched the door. Mason came and stood next to me, followed by Billie Joe and then Steve, who stood behind us, he had regained his security guard posture. I watched for at least 10 seconds, the area around the door was filled with all sorts of fans walking around. The door burst open and Tre' came stumbling out, at first the people outside ignored him but then someone screamed.

"THAT'S TRE' COOL!"

Then the screams started and a massive crowd gathered around Tre', he burst out of the enclosed circle and started running, the mass of people followed him. All asking for autographs, photo's, marriage and all sorts of other strange requests. I noticed that Billie Joe was no longer standing to my left and turned to see where he had gone. He was standing at the door, with his ear pressed against the melamine.

"The guards are running" He said, " the plan is working"

The screams outside were getting louder and I turned to see that the crowd had tripled in size and that Tre' had no way out. He was jumping around in the centre of a circle of people, jokingly yelling abuse at the cowd. The crowd send a whirlwind of abuse right back at him, but Tre' would not let them win, he had another mouthful of foul language ready for the fans, when the guards started pushing the fans aside. So he turned around and aimed the abuse at the security instead, I could have stood there and watched if Billie didn't tell us we would have to go now, or else the riot would be resolved and there would be no way to the uniform room. Billie grabbed my wrists and gently turned them behind my back, like one of the police holds. Steve did the same to Mason.

"Don't worry," Billie said. " It's just so we don't cause suspision."

"We get it." Mason said politely.

We walked out into the hallway and started walking, the opposite way from which we came. I could feel Billie's fingers pressed against the skin of my wrist, the fingers rough and hard from playing so much guitar. I remember, when I was younger, I had the biggest crush on Billie Joe, and now, to have him standing so close behind me, holding my wrists. It would have been enough to make me cry of delight when I was in love with him. But now, I just thought of him as a member of the best band ever, a very attractive member of the best band ever...

"There is the uniform room." Steve said and nodded towards a door in the right wall of the hallway.

I looked over to where he was indicating, and just as I did the door opened and a very sturdy security guard walked out. He was even taller and heavily built than Steve. The guard looked at us and walked over with long, powerful strides.

"Fuck," Billie muttered into my ear. " The biggest, toughest and most strict guard of them all, Big Jonno" he said Jonno with an American accent and if I hadn't been shitting myself with fear, I would have been giggling as it sounded comical.

The guard glared at us with dark, unfriendly eyes. " What do you think you are doing down here?" he asked Steve, Mason and I.
