Amy's Adventure With Green Day, chapter 7
"Hey!" The fattest one yelled, "Those are the kids from the camera, and they've kidnapped Mr. Armstrong!" He angrily stepped towards us and reached his hand inside. I staggered back and just escaped from the grasp of his fat sausage fingers.
"RUN!" Billie yelled from behind me, and jumped out of the other side of the rack. The other two and I followed him, running as quickly as we could. The two men were too confused to start following us at first but then they regained awareness and started following us. They were quite fast considering how large they were.
We zig zagged through the maze of clothing racks, dodging the security guards. Our screams and directions echoed around the concrete space.
"This way!"
"No, that!"
"Watch out, behind you!"
I ducked and ran behind Billie. I was wondering why the guards were still following us, Billie was obviously on our side. Maybe they were just planning to catch us and take the credit. I wondered if Billie would let them capture us. It sure didn't seem like it, he was very busy trying to save us from the guards. Billie ran behind me, I was watching Mason who was dodging the guards. I was wondering about how the guards got the job, they seemed to have trouble chasing us. Steve had run off somewhere, just as I was thinking that, he had reappeared and said:
"Follow me, there is an escape up here, you will have to run fast." And he ran back from the way he had come.
We followed him, he led us to a door, it was hidden behind another rack of clothing. We ducked through the mass of shirts and pants and through the door which had been opened by Steve. Billie Joe slammed the door shut behind him. We all made it through the door safely, out of breath but safely. We could hear the guards outside of the door, in front of the clothing rack, barely being able to breathe.
"Where," pause, "did", pant, "they", sigh, "go?" One of the guards ask, while panting and stuttering.
We were leaning against the walls of the corridor behind the door, panting and laughing at the same time. I leant forward, my hands rested on my knees. I noticed that Mason and Billie were doing the same thing, Steve seemed to be fine, only a litttle out of breath.
"Where are we?" I asked while looking at Steve.
"Not quite sure, it looks like a first aid corridor, but then, the instrumental storage corridor looks the same too." He replied while looking down the illuminated hallway. The neon lights bounced off the shiny white laminated flooring and reflected off the white walls and ceiling. The hallway wound around bit as far as we could see, there were many doors in it, white doors with black windows. Billie started walking.
"Wait up!" I yelled. I was putting on my security outfit, it was accompanied by a hat so I put that on my head and tucked my hair under it. Mason had already put his security uniform on, he looked like a real guard, apart from the eyeliner he was wearing.
Billie turned his head back, he looked at me. "Call Tre,'" he said and gave me the number. I dialed it and after two rings I heard Tre's bright voice answer.
"Cuckoo," He said.
" Tre'?" I asked.
"Who else would it be." he said. " Where are you's?"
"In some white corridor." I replied. Just then, Billie Joe stopped and asked me to hand him the phone.
"Here's Billie." I said to Tre' and handed the phone to Billie Joe.
"Hello?" He said "Yes...no not yet...we are not sure...what time is it?...Shit...no, we are trying to hurry...are you with Mike?...Where is he?...for us? He doesn't know where we are... okay...We will try, if I'm not there in time tell Jimmy Eat World to play a little longer...okay...bye." He hung up and handed the phone back to me.
"I have 10 minutes to get there, get make up done and be ready to get on stage." He said, his face in a thinking frown.
"We are going to have to hurry then." Mason said.
"We will have to call Mike first." Billie said. "Tre' told me he is looking for us, can you call him?" he asked me. "Just tell him to get ready for the show and keep the crowd busy if I'm late." He gave me the number to call Mike, I made a mental note to save them into my phone's phonebook later. I dialed.
Two rings...Three rings..." Hello, Amy?"
"How did you know?" I asked.
"Lucky guess," he said, "Where are you?"
"Ummm, we are not sure but we have the uniforms and just narrowly escaped. Billie told me to tell you that you should get ready for the show and keep the crowd busy if he is late." I told him.
"Okay, so where are you heading now" he asked.
"We are walking down a very white corridor at the moment." I said.
"Mmm, he said, okay, tell Billie that's fine but that he should hurry, we only have about seven minutes left."
"Yeh, I will," I said, "Bye."
" Bye."
I hung up.
"Mike said to hurry." I told Billie.
He looked back, pursed his lips together and nodded, then his walk erupted into a fast run. Mason, Steve and I started running too. I could tell that Billie had no idea where he was going but kept going anyway. We followed the whole corridor until we reached a door at its end. It was a thick door, it seemed very strong too. It had another one of those security things on it. Steve went up to the door and entered the same digits that had made me end up in that place at that time... with Billie Joe Armstrong, and Mike Dirnt and Tre' Cool, waiting to see if my brother and I would succeed in getting into the concert.
The door beeped and opened by itself. We walked through and found ourselves in an area filled with tables full of food and electronic equipment. There was music blaring, very close to us. When I stepped forward I could see the backs of the band members of Jimmy Eat World.
