Running Away With Billie Joe, chapter 4
I woke up to this deep, sharp pain in my stomach. Oh god, the baby!
I didn’t know why, whether it was my instincts or I was just dreaming, but I felt the baby dying inside of me. I woke up Billie Joe and he carried me out to the car so that we could drive to the hospital. Since we had new identities, we were able to walk around freely in the town.
“Ouch....ouch! I screamed. Billie put the hand that he wasn’t driving with on my stomach in the attempt to calm me down, but it didn’t work. We got to the hospital and were dealt with immediately. The doctor did some kind of scan on my stomach. Then he sat us both down in his office to tell us what was wrong.
“I don’t really now how to tell you this, but, I’m sorry, you’ve lost your baby. But Jezel is gonna be just fine. See... I started to cry and Billie held my hand. “...there was a problem in her uterus and the baby died in her womb. I’m sorry, I’ll leave you two to talk this over. and the doctor left the room. I know that before this baby seemed like a huge mistake, but I had grown fond of it and was looking forward to having it. I put my hand over my mouth and started to sob. Billie came up to my seat and hugged me.
After a series of crying and sobbing, we went to what was now considered our home, the beach. Tre and Mike were there, they had made a fire in front of the barn.
“Where were you guys? Wait, what’s wrong? Tre asked. I walked up to the barn and laid down on the blankets. Billie Joe told Mike and Tre the whole story, they comforted him and left. Billie came in through the door and sat down in the chair that was beside me. No-one said anything, it was silent as the grave.
