A Journal Never Lies, chapter 15
Frank heard the phone ringing, but was too lazy to answer. Everytime the phone would stop ringing, it would start up again. After ten sets of rings, he decided it must be important. He slowly got up and yawned. He walked over to the phone and pressed the talk button.
"Hello?" Frank said sleepily.
"Tre man, it's Billie. I'm at the hospital."
"Shit Bil. What'cha do?"
Billie chuckled to himself, "Nothing man. I hit a girl with my car and I'm the hospital with her."
"You say 'hitting a girl with your car' like it isn't a bad thing."
"Well, Tre, if I didn't hit this girl, we may had never found her."
Frank's eyes widened. He had an idea of who he was talking about. "Billie, are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Well, if hitting Ms. Alexandria Wright with my car and finding her was what you were thinking, then yes. I've found her."
There was a moment of silence. Billie Joe began to speak again, "Tre, are you gonna come down here, or am I going to have to hear you breathe for another hour?"
Frank snapped back into reality. His mind was swarming with the thoughts of seeing his sister. He thought about how she looked. He wondered if she was the same as when he last saw her. After two years, Billie Joe found her. He was overjoyed, but his joy was still hidden. Without saying goodbye, Frank hung up the phone and got his car keys.
He ran to the old bookmobile that Green Day use for their tours and opened the driver's seat. He pushed the picks on the seat away and put his seat belt on. Frank put the car in reverse and backed out of the driveway. He drove as fast as he could without getting a ticket to the hospital.
After a few minutes, Frank made it to the hospital. He quickly parked the car and ran out, forgetting to lock it. Frank didn't care if it was locked or not; it wasn't like anyone would really want something from an old bookmobile. He got to the front desk, out of breath from all the running. He mentally told himself to think about working out.
"Hi sir," the woman at the desk said, "How may I help you?" Normally, Frank would think she was hot and try to ask her out, but today, he wasn't. The only thing he cared abiut right now, was seeing his little sister.
"Hi. Umm...do you know what room Alexandria Wright is in?"
"Yes sir. But please, would you mind spelling her last name for me?" the woman positioned herself at the keyboard near her, so she could type down how he spelled his last name.
"W-r-i-g-h-t."
The woman typed it into her computer and began mumbling to herself. "Dylan Wright.....Julia Wright.....Alexandria Wright! Here it is. Room 118. Here," she handed his a. orange pass, "Take this with you. You're gonna need it to get around here."
Frank thanked the woman and began looking for room 118. When he finally found it, he felt his heart skip a beat. He actually felt nervous; nervous to see his own sister. He slowly knocked on the door. He heard Billie Joe talking and decided to just walk in. When he opened the door, he couldn't believe he was actually seeing her. His sister was there!
Frank was so happy, he felt a tear fall down his cheek. His sister looked so much older. Her green highlights grew out and she had her natural brown hair back. Her beautiful, hazel eyes glittered in the light from the ceiling. But, she looked much skinnier than when he last saw her. She looked like you could break her in half with the flick of your finger.
Her perfect line of white teeth showed when she saw her older brother. "Frank!"
"Alex! Jeeze, it's...really good to see you."
"It's good to see you too. I've missed you so much. How have you been?"
Frank looked into her eyes; they showed concern. They showed she really wanted to know how he's been, not just because that what you would normally ask at a time like this. "Umm...okay. I guess. I'm better, now that you're here. How about you?"
"Same."
A knock came at the door. A tall, blonde haired man came it. "Hey guys. I just got you call Billie and I came here as fast as I could. Alex...man. It's so good to finally see you again."
"Mike! You too. I've missed you all so much." Mike walked over to her bedside and gave her a quick hug. She felt chills go down her spine when Mike hugged her. It made her feel like she was at home. The warmth from his body warmed her up, too.
Another knock came at the door and a doctor came in. His name tag, reading Doctor Allen, shined in the light. "Why hello Alex. Good to see you've waken up. I see you have visitors too." The doctor shook hands with all of her visitors.
"So Doc," Frank began, "What's wrong with her?"
Doctor Allen shuffled through his papers attached to his clipboard. "Well, it seems Alex here has minor brain damage. It looks like Alex has gone down a long way down with various drugs."
Everyone looked at her. She had a confused look on her. "I don't remember that one bit. It that why I had no idea I've been gone for two years?"
"I'm afraid so. You see, you've taken so many different kinds of drugs, your body couldn't handle it. So it partly shut down on you, hoping to help you. There may be a few things you down remember in you past; and your present."
Frank became worried, "Is it always going to be this way? Like, there's no cure to it?"
Doctor Allen shook his head, "Yes, it is always going to be this way, and I'm very sorry to tell you that. And no, there is no cure. The best I can say is not to take anything drug related."
Tears were forming in the corners of her eyes. She wouldn't be able to remember things from now on. She couldn't believe it. She wanted to prove she could be the least like her parents, and she failed. She turned into them completely. She felt ashamed. She felt like she let herself down. And most of all, she felt like a loser. She felt like a big, fat loser that can't even keep a promise to herself.
A silent tear fell down her cheek. She wanted everyone to leave her room. All she wanted, was to be alone. She wanted everyone to get out so she could sit with herself and think. She needed time by herself, with no one around but her. But they didn't seem like they were leaving anytime soon.
"Umm...guys?"
Mike, Frank, and Billie Joe looked at her. They seemed to be having a conversation about when to release their album. From what she heard, they still never finished 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. She thought to herself that that was probally because of her. Frank said, "What's up Al?"
She noticed the doctor had left, but didn't wonder where he was, "I'm getting kinda tired. I think I'm going to go to bed."
"Oh, okay Alex. I guess we'll be going then." Frank walked over to her and kissed the top of her head, "We'll come back in a little bit, okay?"
She nodded her head and began to "sleep". When she heard the door close, she got up out of her bed. She walked over to the window and looked out. Right before the parking lot, there was a small garden. A few benches were scattered along the outside the garnen. In the middle was a large fountain with crystal clear water. Flowers and bushes were everywhere, attracting every bird and butterfly around the area. Just looking at it made her feel peaceful. So she sat there, staring at the garden, and thinking about the information Doctor Allen had just told her.
She looked to her side and noticed her bag next to her bed. She got up and opened her bag. Inside, she saw her journal. She still had it. She flipped to the last written page. May 17, 1989. A calender was laid on the bedside table that had today's date. It was one of those calanders where you had to rip the top page to see the next date. The calander read March 4, 1991. 1991?! She couldn't believe it! It has been two years!
She opened the drawer on the table and found a pen. She too the cap off and began.
March 4, 1991
Wow! I'm back! There's just way too much that has happened. I'm actually in the hospital right now. I got hit by a car and I broke my foot. The only reason I'm not upset is because of who hit me....Billie Joe! He actually found me! I got to see Frank and Mike too! But, I found out I have minor brain damage.
