Where did they go?, chapter 1

It was late one Saturday night and Mike could not fall asleep. Something was wrong. He didn't know what but, he knew something was up.

Suddenly the phone rang nearly giving Mike a heart attack. He answered it and said "Hello?" in a weird tone of voice. Mike was out of breath and the person on the other line started to laugh.

"What's with you?" said a familiar voice.

Mike laughed and said "When the phone rang I was startled." Then Mike realized it was Adrienne on the other line. Mike said, "so what's up? Why are you calling me so late?"

Adrienne replied, "Well Mike, I have...I have...a problem..." Before continuing Mike cut off Adrienne and said "what you are having a hard time sleeping too?"

"No" replied Adie. "It's a bigger problem than that, Mike. It's something serious!"

Mike started laughing and then said "don't worry I'll help you whatever the problem is."

Adie replied, "thanks Mike, I knew I could count on you. My problem is Billie is missing. I checked everywhere in the house and he is gone. I even checked the garage to see if his car was there. It still was and Billie doesn't like going for his walks this early in the morning."

Mike laughed and said "yeah right Adie. You are pulling a prank on me! I mean it is almost April Fools Day!"

Adie then seemed to be really worried and replied, "Mike I thought I could trust you. If I went to Tre he wouldn't take it serious. What am I going to do?"

By then, Mike knew something was wrong. Mike screamed and dropped the phone. He ran upstairs and got his coat and shoes and ran out the door. Adie was still on the phone and she was screaming as loud as possible. She was saying "Mike, are you there? Mike, pick up the phone please. Are you alright?" Adie hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, Mike jumped in his car and drove over to Billie and Adie's house. When he got there he noticed Billie's car was still there. He ran inside and checked every room and still couldn't find Billie.

Mike tried to calm down and told Adie that he would stay there all night until the morning to keep her company.

Adie said, "but what about Billie?"

Mike just replied, "he probably went for a walk or something. It's ok."

*** The Next Morning ***

Mike and Adie sat there. They sat there with their heads on the kitchen table.

Then the door slammed open and Tre walked in. Tre had a big smile on his face and said, "Good Morning everyone! Care for some orange mocha frap..."

Adie and Mike both shouted "No!" before Tre could finish.

"Jezz what's up with you two today?"

Mike looked down and said "Tre, we can't find Billie."

"Oh," Tre replied. "Maybe he went for some coffee!" Tre said.

Mike and Adie looked at each other. "Tre, we couldn't find him last night either and it doesn't take more than..." Adrienne looked at her watch, "6 hours to get coffee."

"Well how do you know? Have you ever gotten coffee before?" Tre said.

Mike replied getting up, "Tre please. This is very serious."

"Ok then. Did you report it to the police?"

"Yes," Adie replied.

Tre responded, "Why don't we go look for him then?"

Mike shouted, "Oh that's a good idea!"

The three of them went out to look for Billie all around Oakland, California. They agreed to meet at Tre's house the next morning.

*** The next day at Tre's house ***

Adrienne walked up to Tre's house and knocked on the door.

When the door opened Adrienne said, "Tre sorry I'm late."

"It's ok" Tre replied, "Mike isn't here."

"What?" Adie said. Tre said that he hadn't seen Mike all last night and he was worried about him.

They both chatted and now Mike had gone missing!

Tre said, "Now we have two people to find! Oh great."
