Body Guard, chapter 3
She was too late. Once she was directly in front of Billie, her plan was to jump into him, knocking them both out of the way. but instead, stopped dead right in front of him, looking straight into his eyes. She closed her eyes and sank to her knees and the man with the gun ran off. Billie caught Olivia by her arms and held her up. He placed a hand on her back to try to balance her kneeling form, but when he brought his hand back it was covered in blood.
"No no no no no...." Billie panicked.
"Billie...call 9..1..1..."Olivia said, before passing out.
Billie laid her carefully on the ground, placing her head in his lap and he pulled out his cell phone and called 911. Seconds later the ambulance came and they were on their way to the hospital. The paramedics asked Billie what happened as they worked on Olivia. Billie tried his best to explain what happened in his panicked state.
Once at the hospital and hours later, Billie sat by Olivia side in her hospital room, having already talked to police.
"Come on Olivia..." Billie pleaded, taking her hand in his own.
As soon as his skin came in contact with hers, her eyes flutter open. She took a moment to look around and then started to cough alerting Billie.
"Oh my God," he whispered, but then helped her drink water.
"Thank you," she said in a raspy whisper.
"No thank you. You saved my life," Billie exclaimed, sitting back down next to her.
"It's my job," she smiled.
There were a few moments of silence then she spoke.
"I lost him," she whispered, her eyes filling with tears.
"No no, the police came and said they caught the guy that shot you. It's okay," he said, taking her hand again.
"No..." she continued, grasping his hand tightly.
"I lost the last guy I was supposed to guard," she said, tears escaping her eyes.
"Is that how you got all those scars on your back?" he asked cautiously, while stroking her hand with his thumb.
He watched her nod and there was silence for a few moments and then the doctor came to examine her.
"So I guess I'll be moving out soon whenever I get out of here." Olivia said.
"What? Why?" Billie asked confused.
"Well I'm no use to you now with an injury," Olivia said with a smile.
"Who's going to take care of you?" Billie asked.
"Don't worry about that," she replied.
"I'm gonna worry about it. You save my life and I'm just supposed to leave you alone while your injured. I don't think so." Billie stood firm.
About a day or two later Olivia was allowed to leave the hospital, she had insisted that she go back to her place, which these days was a hotel room, and take care of herself. Billie had only allowed this because she agreed to let him come by whenever he wanted to check on her. Billie held tight on her hand and her upper arm and helped her into the wheelchair. He did the same when helping her out of the cab and up into her hotel room.
"I've got to get to the studio, so are you gonna be okay for a couple of hours?" he asked after helping an exhausted Olivia onto the couch in her room.
"I'll be fine thank you, you really didn't have to do this," Olivia said, leaning her head back against the couch.
"Yes I do. I'll be back after practice." And with that he left.
Hours later Billie rushed from the studio to see Olivia. He had taken an extra key for her room so he could come and go as he pleased. He opened her door with ease, considering the practice he had from staying at so many hotels throughout the years, and entered her hotel room. He look around and saw no Olivia.
"Olivia you here?" He yelled.
"I'm in here." he heard her yell from the bathroom.
Walking to the bathroom he found her wearing a halter top and trying to take off her bandage on her back.
"Need some help?" he asked.
"Would you mind?" she asked, leaning forward and gripping the sink to hold her exhausted body balanced.
"No not at all," he said.
He walked over to her and carefully pulled off the bandage. He apologized when she winced. He then took the fresh bandage and placed it carefully over her wound. He then slid his hand through her top sliding over her smooth stomach, caught in the moment of her beauty. She sighed closing her eyes and leaned her hand back against his shoulder. Billie leant his head down to kiss her neck, but once she sighed again from feeling his warm breath on her neck he pulled back quickly. Leaving them both feeling quite embarrassed.
"Thank you so much," she said, feeling a little embarrassed
"No problem. Have you gotten any sleep since I've been gone?" he asked, putting his hands in his pockets.
"Actually no. It's taken me forever just to change my shirt and make my way in here and then attempt to change my own bandage. I feel so helpless." she confessed.
"Here let me help you." he said, catching her before she fell trying to make her way out of the bathroom.
"How about you try to get some sleep. I'll help you in there," Billie said.
He did as he said he would, he helped her into the bedroom. She sat on one side of the bed and wrapped her arms around Billie's neck and he slowly helped place her on her back to sleep. She winced once finally laying completely on her back.
"Thanks," she said after letting out a breath.
"How many times are you gonna say that? You have nothing to thank me for, you saved my life. And it kills me to see you in pain because of it," he said, looking down.
"Like I said, it's my job and I wouldn't have you taken away from your boys." she smiled sleepily.
He watched her as she closed her eyes and slowly fell into a deep sleep. He stood by and looked towards the door but then back at Olivia. He couldn't leave her. So he cautiously crawled into bed next to her. Laying on his side so he was facing her he lightly kissed her cheek and closed his eyes soon falling asleep.
Early the next morning Olivia tossed in her sleep groaning with a scared expression.
"Olivia, Olivia?!" Billie yelled, trying to wake her up.
"Ahhh!" she woke up gasping.
"Olivia are you alright?" Billie asked, looking scared.
"Yea I'm..I'm find it was just a bad dream," she said laughing it off as though it was nothing.
"What happened in your dream?" he asked.
"Nothing, it was just a nightmare." she said before moving to get out of bed.
"Olivia.." Billie said concerned.
She took a deep breath and said "It was night I lost my last client."
"Oh," Billie said, letting go of her arm.
"Um...when did you get here?" she asked him.
"I uh...never left." he admitted shyly.
"I'm glad." She smiled, placing a hand on his.
"Uh...are you feeling better?" he asked, following her out of the bedroom and in the living area.
"Yea a lot better than yesterday. I never sleep well in hospitals," she said.
"Good. So you wanna grab some breakfast my treat?!" Billie asked excitedly.
"Billie, you don't owe me anything. I told you I was doing my job," she said, slowly sitting next to Billie on the couch.
Billie said nothing. He just placed a hand on her cheek, and watched as she closed her eyes and leant her hand into his hand. He then leaned forward and pressed his lips ever so lightly upon hers. He pulled back to see her reaction.
"Billie you don't have to-" she started but was cut off.
"I will always be in your debt for what you did but I'm doing this because I really like you. You're an amazing woman." he explained to her.
She said nothing this time and instead leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips.
"No no no no no...." Billie panicked.
