We Will Run Away Together Hand In Hand, chapter 1
It was a mild August morning, the sun shone through a pair of curtains onto two sleeping girls. They were both sprawled out on their beds hugging either their pillow or mattress. A woman in her mid 40's came into the room and picked up the dirty laundry from both of the girls' beds and also from the floor. The woman then walked over to the window and pulled open the curtains. Both of the two sleeping girls quickly woke up and screamed in reaction of the sunlight.
"Girls wake up!" the woman said, "We have a family reunion to attend...Rebel, Taylor come on, up!"
"Do I have to go?" a black haired girl moaned hiding in the covers of the bed
"Yes you do Rebel. Grandma wants to see you, look I can't leave you here," her mother said
"Leave Taylor here and go on your own then. Grandma hates me and Taylor so it'll be for the best," Rebel said. Rebel's purple haired sister poked her head out from under her covers
"Yeah bye Mom," Taylor said, "Sleep!"
"Oh no you don't. Up, the pair of you. The flight to Berkley leaves in an couple of hours," their mother said, and then walked out of the bedroom closing the door behind her.
Rebel and Taylor both sat upright and looked to the nearest wall covered in posters of Green Day. They looked at each other then back at their walls. Rebel and Taylor were twins, non identical twins though.
Rebel stared at the framed picture of Billie Joe Armstrong she'd taken at a Green Day concert. She and Taylor were lucky enough to be in the front row. Rebel had taken the photo during the guitar solo of 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' when the gold sparks came down behind Billie in a curtain. Although she had been too mesmerized by the guitarist standing before her playing the guitar with so much emotion to do anything, she still pulled out the camera and took a quick photo. That was a day neither of them would forget because both Billie and Mike held their hands and Tre got his ass out, right in front of them. Rebel looked over at her sister.
"Maybe we'll see Billie Joe"
"Fuck him," Taylor said, knowing that was exactly what her sister wanted to do, "Mike all the way."
The girls both got out of bed and raced to the bathroom to brush their teeth. Rebel went back to the bedroom and found something to wear for the day. Since she could be seeing her idol, Rebel wanted to look her best, even if the occurrence may never happen. She decided on a pair of tight black jeans, a red and black t-shirt and her red and black vans.
Taylor decided on the black trousers and a black t-shirt with black and white converse.
Rebel went into the bathroom they shared again to sort her hair and make up. She brushed her black hair several times so it was smooth and knot free. She then opened a cabinet and got her eyeliner out, She applied the eyeliner to her lower lids then smoothed it out using her finger.
Taylor walked over to the CD player and put the album 'Warning' into it and pressed play. She skipped the first track and 'Blood Sex and Booze' blasted out of the speakers.
Rebel found herself singing to it out loud, if only she had her guitar in the bathroom. Since she was finished anyway, she walked out of the bathroom and danced with Taylor for a minute. They both looked around for their plectrums and guitars. Rebel stopped suddenly.
"Where's most of our stuff? OH MY GOD WHERE'S MY GUITAR?!"
"WHERE'S MY BASS?" Taylor said, both girls ran out of their bedroom to the stairs
"MOM WHERE'S OUR STUFF?" both girls shouted at the same time, their mom immerged at the bottom of the stairs
"Oh good, you're both up," she said, "Your guitar and your bass has already been sent on."
Rebel screamed, "I'm going to die of boredom on that plane."
The flight was about seven and a half hours long. Taylor was chatting up a punk/emo boy most of the time and Rebel was listening to Dookie from her iPod, mouthing the words to 'Basket Case' when the plane landed. Rebel turned off her iPod to save battery and had to pull Taylor away from the guy she was talking to. Taylor called Rebel a bitch and smacked her arm. Their mom told them to stop it as the family could see them. Taylor wriggled out of Rebel's grip then sorted her t-shirt out. The girls' grandmother walked over and hugged their mother and shot the girls an evil look. Rebel and Taylor each dropped a hip and crossed their arms in reluctance to have anything to do with their grandmother.
"Sheila, it's good to see you," she said. Taylor and Rebel looked at each other in disgust of their grandmother. "I see you've brought the girls," she said sarcastically.
"We said we're sorry for breaking the stupid vase! For God's sake, we were seven! You hear me woman, seven!" Rebel said trying to bottle her anger, "Why don't you go and die?"
"Come on let's get our stuff," Taylor said, dragging her sister away to the luggage carousel. "She's an old woman Rebel, she'll die soon," she said as a guy came over. He was wearing a black baseball cap, covering up mid brown hair, and sunglasses to cover his eyes.
"Not soon enough, unfortunately," the guy said. Rebel glared at him for stealing her line, "Sorry was that your line?" he asked
