The Way They Loved, chapter 1
I glared at her as she did the same. We continued our glare-contest until Billie came walking in, holding three boxes of nacho's.
"Here girls," he said, handing a box to each of us, with the melted cheese and all. "Thanks babe," I smiled, hiding my hate for his so-called good friend Sheila, who was obviously coming on to him most of the time I was around.
"Something wrong, Adie? You seem pretty damn troubled..." Billie said, crunching on a nacho while Sheila stared at him adoringly.
"Oh nuthin'..." I replied, playing with the box of nacho's.
"So, Sheila, I heard your band is having some sort of gig down at the pub, eh?" Billie casually started a conversation, breaking the eerie cold silence.
"Oh yeah, you should come. Adie too..." she finished with a pissing tone at the end. "I'll go if Billie does," I said, staring at my boyfriend.
"Sure, I'll go. Maybe there will be some talent sharks..." he said smiling to himself.
*At the pub the night of the gig*
"All right folks, you've been waiting long enough. Now for...The Killerettes!" the announcer screamed as Sheila's band came up. She sang for a while, and soon Green Day was up there, rocking the audience's socks off. Green Day was personally my favorite band, considering my boyfriend was the frontman of it. I cheered on, and after my favorite tunes were rocked out, I joined my girlfriends at the bar, waiting for Billie to get ready so we could leave and get some 'together time', if you know what I mean.
"Adie, you're so lucky to have Billie as a boyfriend! I mean, he rocks! No other means..." Portia screamed over the loud cheers from the mosh pit, making me feel even luckier about Billie. We chatted about guys and the bands for about an hour, and time flew by. I noticed that Billie neither called me nor informed me if he was with the guys, so I decided to see what he was up to.
"Hey Billie, we're running out of ---" I paused. I died mentally. Hot tears started to come out from my eyes and I felt like slitting myself on my wrist a million times before committing suicide. "No...no way...oh my god, no..." I said, turning around and heading for the door.
"Adie! Wait! No, you've got it all wrong!" But I didn't. I didn't get it all wrong. I could hear the little corner of my brain laughing at me for my foolishness, and I could hear Sheila's laughs of pure pleasure, to my dismay, but it didn't really matter anymore.
She was there. HE was there. I wasn't. I wasn't part of the fun. No, I would never want to, anyway. But cut the crap and back to the story.

Running down the cold grey streets of Berkeley, I turned into an alley, where I met this weird man who made me realize my mistake. "Oh my god!" I screamed out of shock. I didn't expect him---or anyone, at least, to be there.
"Keane?"
"Adrienne?"
"Oh my god, Keane Rogers, I'm so glad to see you!" I said, wrapping my arms around my best friend from junior high.
"What's wrong, Adrienne? You're like, all shivery and crying! And I haven't seen you in ages. Common', let's get you into my car and you gotta' fill me in, dear," he said, taking me into his warm car and driving me away from all my troubles, to a safer place where I belonged.
*At Keane's house*
"Well, my boyfriend, Billie, cheated on me while I was chilling with my girls. He was totally sinking into a total bitch, Sheila, and well, I'm just so depressed!" I screamed, mucus flying and all the sick stuff everywhere. "It's okay babe, it's totally okay..." he comforted me.
"No, it's no---" he broke my words with a kiss. A warm, soft, but deep one. And if I was a bit less tipsy, I would have broken away, but he seemed just right at that point of time.
