A BJA & Angelia Story, chapter 5
"HI!" Mike said brightly to the man standing at the door.
"Hello, sir," the man said.
I walked into the foyer to get a better look at the guy. He had black, slicked back hair, a solid non-smiling mouth, a big toucan-like nose and eyebrows that were too close to his eyes. Oh, and, I forgot to mention the ancient looking tuxedo.
Deanna snorted at the sight of the butler and walked upstairs.
"Come right in," Mike said. The butler took a small step into the foyer and looked around at his surroundings.
"Here, let me show you to your room," Tre offered, in his most sophisticated voice. Court cracked up beside me and skipped after them.
There was a loud pounding at the door. Deanna walked back down the stairs, stood on the tips of her toes and looked through the peep hole. She turned around, her eyes huge.
"Run Angelica," she hissed, "go... anywhere, hide!"
I turned and bolted up the stairs and then crouched down beside the railing, trying to see who was at the door.
"Oh, hello, sir!" Deanna said brightly as she opened the door.
"Hello, miss," A deep voice replied.
"We had a sighting of a girl that fit the discription of a missing child," the man said slowly.
"I see," Deanna said, "Well, it's just us here."
"Well, then how do you explain the girl that was in your jeep yesterday?" he asked.
"Oh, her. Thats our friend... Maria."
The cop raised an eyebrow and took out a pen and paper.
"Mind if we have a look around?" he asked.
"We?" Deanna repeated.
"Yes, WE, as in me and the squad," he replied.
I hurried into my bedroom and dived under the bed. Footsteps thundered down the hallway, and searched everyroom. A cop turned into my room, searched the closet, my duffel, the droors and under the bed. Luckily, they didnt see me, pressed up agaisnt the wall. I let out a sigh of relief as I heard the front door slam as the last officer hurried out.
"Angelica," Billie hissed from outside my room.
"Yeah?" I asked, climbing out from under the bed.
"Oh, there you are," He said, a look of relief washing over him.
He walked over to me and wrapped me in a big hug.
We walked into the kitchen, and to my surprise, there was still one last cop, sitting at the table, helping himself to some fruit that was sitting on the table. He must be here for questioning. Billie spotted him, grabbed my by my shoulders, pulled me out of the door way and pushed me up against the wall. He put a finger to his lips. I nodded. He walked casually into the kitchen and asked what the cop was still doing here. I was right, questioning. My stomache rumbled in hunger.
"Who was the other person at the door with you?" the cop asked.
"What are you.. ta.. talking about?" Billie stammered.
The cop pulled his chair out and walked towards the door. I darted for the living room but it was too late, he had seen me.
"Care to explain, miss?" The cop asked, taking a bite of an apple from the fruit bowl.
"What are you talking about?" I asked casually.
"What on earth are were you doing at Billie's mansion?" he screamed into my face, not to mention spitting all over me.
"Um, I live there, ass whipe."
The cop turned bright red with anger.
"You are the missing kid."
"Im not missing, Im right here."
"Dont push my buttons, kid."
"Im not the one who pushed a child into a stuffy room in a shitty police office." I snorted, "now take me back to my house."
Tre walked into the office and looked around, amused.
"Angelica, we gotta go. South Park will be on in a few minutes," Tre mused.
"Tell that to the dipshit," i said, motioning to the cop.
"How dare you-" the cop started.
"Now, sir, we've gotta be on our way," Tre said, pulling my chair out for me and helping me up.
"YOU CANT LEAVE," the cop shrieked. But we ignored him, and continued our way out of the office.
