All is well that ends well, chapter 1

It was a rainy October Saturday, quite cold and windy for that time of year, but for Mike it was just another usual day. He woke up at about 10 am as usual, brushed his teeth, took a shower as usual and ate his breakfast, again as usual. He was planning to go visit his best friend Billie, and maybe later meet with his beautiful girlfriend Brittney. After eating his breakfast he decided to check on his daughter.
"Estelle, darling, you really should get up. It's half past ten already." Said Mike giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"Ok, ok." Answered Estelle with a sleepy voice.
"You'll find breakfast in the kitchen, honey. I have to go to Billie's, but I won't stay long, ok?"
"Mmmhmm, I'll be fine, but don't stay too long." Said Estelle with the same sleepy voice.
As he was stepping out of the house, Mike noticed how unusually cold it was, but didn't give it much thought. He got into his car and tried to start it but all he got were some loud screeching noises. He tried several times but got the same response.
"Damn car." He said, "What the heck am I gonna do now?"
He pulled out his cell-phone but the battery was dead, so he went back to the house.
"This is just not my lucky day," he thought
He wanted to take a cab, thinking he'd get his car repaired later, but realized that his phone was simply not working. He tried the one in the kitchen, but again he had no results.
"Damn it!" He said again. "I'm gonna be late and Billie's gonna get upset. I hate taking the bus, but I guess I have no other choice."
He took his umbrella and decided to walk to the bus stop. When arriving there he noticed a sign saying that there had been changes in the bus routes, meaning he had to wait a half an hour for the bus.
"Fuck it!" He swore angrily. He knew that the only way he could be on time was taking the subway, but apart from the airplane it was the means of transport that he liked using the least. It was just something that even he couldn't explain to himself, he only knew that each time he entered the subway all he wanted to do is get out as quickly as possible.
It was a good thing though that the station wasn't that far away. He was still upset that everything he tried to do ended up wrong. It was like fate wanted him to be there. He was hoping for an excuse not to go, but it seemed that it was just meant to be.
The subway was quite empty and Mike was glad that it was so. Just an old lady reading her newspaper, a couple of surfer dudes silently chatting, a guy looking at some paperwork, and a teenage girl that kinda attracted his attention. She seemed she was feeling just like him, stuck in a place she didn't wanna be. Little did Mike know she was one of his biggest fans. But when she saw him she didn't react in any way. She just stood quietly on her seat, not showing even the smallest trace of surprise, happiness, sadness or any other feeling on her face.
Mike sat down in a corner, glad that probably no one was gonna know who he is, as the doors slammed shut. He hated the way that doors closed in the subway, giving him the feeling that he was trapped, one of the things he hated about this kind of transport.
Then he heard that utterly annoying voice: "Attention, next stop will be..."
It was like the lady was going to choke from a word to the other. The train started moving slowly but steadily. For a couple of minutes it seemed that nothing was going to go wrong, but suddenly the train stopped moving.
The few passengers started to get anxious wondering what could have possibly gone wrong. After a short while that felt like an eternity for Mike and the girl, a tall, dark-haired man entered their wagon, closely followed by two other men and a woman.
They were all holding big, bulky guns, causing loud reactions among the passengers.
"Quiet!" The dark-haired man said. "We have hijacked this train. It is not a joke. If you listen carefully and do as we say then nobody will get hurt." He made a short break to be sure that everybody understood what he was saying, and after a while he continued.
"All I want you to do for now is be silent. " And then he left to the conductor's cabin, leaving the passengers with the other three hijackers.
One of the men was a bit shorter than the one that seemed the group leader, had blonde hair and an evil, bloodthirsty look in his eyes. The other man was short, with a week constitution and walking a bit wobbly.
