The Day Billie's and Mike's Life Came Crashing Down, chapter 12
Mike collapsed onto the floor next to Billie's bed in tears. That was it, he was all on his own now. There was no Billie, no Tre, he was all on his own. He was suddenly being picked up and placed on his bed by Dr. Relva. It was a few minutes after Billie died that as Dr. Relva was walking out there was a beep, then another. It was getting more frequent now. He turned around and the heart monitor had started up again and Billie was gasping for air.
He quickly ran over to Billie and placed the oxygen mask on him and started to take a look at the cut. It was back to normal but he didn't know how, last time he checked it was dark and bigger, but now it is normal. The liquid must have healed it up.
"Billie? Is he alive?" Mike asked wiping tears away and looking up at Billie.
"Yes, he is. But that's impossible. That's never happened before. We'll have to watch him every second of the day so I'll have to get one the nurses to keep an eye on you and Billie," Dr. Relva said, astonished at what he just saw.
"Why me? I'm doing alright, aren't I?" Mike asked.
"What? Yes you are but we still need to keep an eye on you tonight, and if we're satisfied with your progress then you can go home."
"I'm not leaving Billie's side. You may discharge me but I'm staying right here until he comes homes."
"I'm afraid you won't be able to do that, because if he's in a condition worse than this he will have to be put in a different room with round the clock care and you might not be able to visit him. But it all depends on his condition, but by looking at him now I'd say that he'll make a full recovery in the next two weeks."
"But when he comes home, then what? Does he have to come back for check ups and stuff or do I make sure that he's alright?"
"Well it depends on how he recovers, but just make sure that you stay with him as much as possible and don't let him drink too much alcohol as it could lead him to having a blackout and his chest will feel tight."
"I just want him to come home now with me."
"I know you do but we'll see how it goes. Don't worry he should be fine now," Dr. Rlva said as he left the room.
*2 weeks later*
Everyone at the hospital was very pleased at the progress Billie was making. He could now go for a little strolls and he was no longer fainting or coughing up blood. His temperature was back to normal and he had put on a little bit of weight, but he was still under the weight of what he was normally but at least he wasn't as skinny. Even Mike was happy at how well he was doing but was made even happier when Dr. Relva told him that he could go home the next day with him. Mike had spent as much time at the hospital with Billie as he could, but he was more preoccupied with Little Tre as he had made such a mess at the house that Mike had to clean it up to be ready for Billie's return home.
He was just getting ready to pick up Billie when Tre appeared.
"I can't believe it Tre, he's coming home today. He'll finally be here away from all them horrible machines and doctors. I've prepared him his favourite meal and afterwards we're going to go for a walk in the park," Mike said, really happy.
"That sounds like a nice evening but look I need to talk to you about something that's been on my mind for sometime now, and I need to get it off my chest while it's just me and you," Tre said with a nervous voice.
"What is it? Look I've got to go and pick Billie up so I'll talk to you later alright. After our walk Billie will probably go up to bed so I'll talk to you then alright. I'll be back in a bit," Mike said, grabbing his jacket and heading out of the door leaving Tre looking worried and upset.
*At the hospital*
Mike parked the car as near to the entrance as he could as Billie couldn't walk that far without collapsing on the floor. He made his way up to Billie's room and saw him surrounded by nurses.
"Hey Billie, I see that you're feeling good."
"Ha ha Mike, very funny. They've just came in to say goodbye and I've given out a couple of autographs and phone numbers," Billie said with a big grin on his face.
"I'm happy for you Billie. Are you ready to go?" Mike asked, happy to see Billie smiling.
"Yeah. Well thanks for everything girls, I hope to see you soon."
"Bye Billie," The nurses all said together at the same time.
"Come on Billie, take your time, we're in no rush"
"Mike look, I'm fine, so you don't have to baby me alright."
"Look you need to take it easy for a while and that means you don't go for your morning walks."
"Mike you know that I go out for my morning walk no matter how bad I'm feeling."
"Yeah I know but you can't walk very far without collapsing so just take it easy for a few weeks and see how you do alright."
When they reached the car Mike put Billie in and put the bags on the back seat. They started to drive off back home to their quiet evening.
*At home*
Billie was sitting at the dinner table ready for his surprise dinner that Mike had made in honour of him coming home.
"Well here you go, your favourite, vegetable lasagne with a root beer. But don't go drinking too much of those as you could pass out again," Mike said, putting Billie's dinner in front of him and handing Billie his beer.
"Look don't worry Mike, I know what I should be doing till I'm completely recovered, so you don't have to remind me okay. What are we going after dinner?"
"Well I thought that we could go out for a walk in the park."
"That sounds nice, but I don't think that I'm up to it yet, not tonight."
"That's alright, don't worry about it."
They sat down and ate. When they were finished Mike took the plates and washed them then helped Billie up the stairs to his room and said good night. Mike went back downstairs and found Tre siting on the couch.
"Can I talk to you now?" He asked.
"Sure, what about?"
"Billie."
"What about him?"
"Look, he's in trouble. You know the guys who beat you up? Well on my last meeting with them they said they'll get you and when you're in hospital then they'll start to hurt Billie so just watch out alright, stay by Billie's side and don't leave him on his own."
"Thanks for the warning Tre, but Billie's already been in the hospital for the past four weeks so I don't think that they'll get him, do you?"
"Yes I do. Billie's been in every music magazine in the world telling people that he's in hospital. You should look on all of our websites. I've got mourners and people are sending get well wishes to Billie and when you were in hospital well, people were positively crying."
"Look I . . ." Mike began but he was interrupted by a thud from upstairs.
"Billie!"
Mike ran upstairs to Billie's room and found him huddled in a corner crying into his hands. Mike went over to Billie and put a hand on his shoulder. He could feel Billie start to shake.
"Billie? Are you alright?"
"I'm not magic, I'm not magic, I'm not magic."
"Billie what are you talking about?"
"You won't believe it."
"Believe what?"
"I think I just had a premonition."
"What!? Billie are you sure you're feeling alright?"
"Yes, look, I saw someone break in and they had a gun and they knocked you into a wall and made you pass out and then they came up to me and grabbed me by the throat and tied me up." Billie was crying heavily now and was starting to shake.
"I'm scared Mike."
"I know. Tre was right, look you go back to bed and I'll go down the stairs and see if he knows when they are going to come and we'll go away for a bit alright," Mike said, putting Billie back to bed and headed downstairs. But when he entered the living room, he was scared at what he saw.
