An Extraordinary Girl, chapter 10
Amanda walked up to her room and placed her backpack on the bed. She looked around at the room and frowned. She hated how it looked. Plain white walls surrounded her, making her feel claustrophobic. She sighed and sat herself down on the bed. She forcefully opened her back pack and took out her homework. She started on science.
"This is easy," Amanda exclaimed as she hurriedly finished her home work. She placed it on the floor, and grabbed her math.
"Damn it! Fuck this!" Amanda yelled throwing her math notebook against the wall. She knocked the text book off of the bed. She had slight anger issues. Billie ran upstairs at the sound of the commotion.
"What the hell is going on?" he asked walking into the doorway.
"I don't understand my math," Amanda said angrily.
"So you threw the book against the wall?"
"I have anger issues," she said calming down a bit.
"I see that," Billie said walking over to the wall to see if there was a dent. He ran his hand over the wall and sighed. There was a small nick, but you couldn't see it. He bent over and picked up the notebook and then the math book. He sat down on the bed and motioned for Amanda to come closer.
"I'll help you on your math," Billie said opening up to the page. He started to explain how to do the math work. About 2 hours later Amanda understood the math. She thanked Billie and continued her homework.
About another two hours later she was done. She sighed and fell back against the bed, closing her eyes. Tre walked past her door, going towards his room. He walked backwards and into her doorway. He ran up to her bed and started to jump up and down on it.
"Get up! Billie wants to see you," Tre said still jumping up and down on the end of the bed. Amanda groaned. She threw a pillow at Tre and hit him in the face. He giggled and got off the bed. She also got up and ran downstairs to see Billie. She ran into the living room, where Billie was watching t.v. with the boys. She jumped into his lap.
"Can you teach me how to play guitar now?" she asked pleadingly.
"Sure," he said lifting her off of his lap. She giggled and ran into the basement where most of the guitars were. She knew he would never let her play Blue, so she didn't even bother to try and get it. Billie followed her downstairs. He grabbed his black guitar and sat down on the couch that was found in the corner of the room. Amanda followed and sat next to him.
"First, you have to learn the basic notes," Billie said playing each note slowly. Amanda watched his fingers pluck the strings as he continued to tell her which note is which. Billie handed her the guitar and she copied him. He smiled and grabbed the guitar.
"Great. Now you need to learn how to play chords. We'll start with the basics. Oh, and Mike told me he taught you how to play the bass. Just to tell you the guitar is a lot harder." he said before playing a few chords. Amanda nodded and continued to watch Billie play the guitar. After a few minutes, it was her turn to play the guitar.
"Damn it!" Amanda shouted as she messed up for what it seemed like the millionth time,"Fuck this I give up," she said placing the guitar on the floor.
"You give up so quickly. It took me forever to learn how to play guitar, and now look at me I'm the greatest guitarist in the world," Billie said.
"Yeah, but I'll never be good at playing guitar."
"If you can play the bass, then you can play the guitar," Billie said picking up the guitar. He placed back into Amanda's arms. She sighed and continued to try and perfect Reject. She started to get down the familiar riff when she placed her fingers on the wrong strings and messed up. She groaned angrily and placed the guitar down again.
"I quit," Amanda said getting up. She hurried out of the basement and ran upstairs. She really didn't want to hear Billie reason with her. She ran into her room and fell back against the bed. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a light sleep. She awoke about an hour later to the sound of someone walking into her room. She looked up to find Billie.
"Hey, I came up to say goodnight," he whispered sitting on the bed. Amanda nodded and got up to take out a pair of pajamas. She walked into the bathroom and slipped them on. She brushed her teeth, and then pulled her long brown hair into a loose ponytail. She walked back into her room and sat down next to Billie.
"Bill...I mean dad, can I paint my room?" Amanda asked.
"Sure. What do you want to paint it?" he asked, a little intrigued. He was tired of the white walls as well.
"I was thinking maybe we could paint the walls black and put the warning logo on it," Amanda said looked at Billie, hoping he would say yes.
"That would look cool," he said picturing the logo of their new album on the walls.
He nodded. Amanda squealed happily and smiled. She flung her arms around Billie and thanked him.
"Welcome. Now get some sleep," he said before swiftly kissing her forehead and leaving the room. Before disappearing into the lit hall, he turned out the lights and closed the door. Amanda laid awake in bed for a few hours before drifting into a deep sleep.
