An Extraordinary Girl, chapter 9
Amanda woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. She groaned as she hit the snooze button.
"Was it all a dream? Did I imagine it all?" she asked herself, rubbing her eyes.
"Good morning. I was just coming in to wake you up for school."
Amanda turned to look at the doorway. There, standing in the doorway, was the one and only Billie Joe Armstrong. Amanda smiled. It hadn't been a dream. Billie and Adie really did adopt her. She got up and gave her new dad a hug, before running into the bathroom to take a shower.

Fifteen minutes later Amanda got dressed and ran downstairs for breakfast. The aroma of coffee, beacon, and eggs filled the room. She walked into the kitchen and sat in between Mike and Tre.
"Good morning Angel," Tre said.
"Good morning," Amanda said with a smile. She looked at Mike, who was downing a cup of coffee. Tre had got up and left to go watch T.V.
"Excited about your first day of school?" Billie asked as he slid a plate of food to Amanda. She nodded with a smile and began to eat her food.
"Want anything to drink?" Mike asked, since he was getting up.
"Coffee, please," she answered. Mike smiled and started to make another cup of coffee. In the few days Amanda was there, he had gotten her addicted to coffee. A few minutes later Amanda's coffee was sitting in front of her. She smiled as she began to drink it. A few minutes later she stood up and put away her dishes. She walked into the living room, only to find Tre asleep on the couch.
"Dog pile!" she shouted before running at Tre, and landing on his back. Tre woke up immediately. Billie came running into the room when Amanda screamed dog pile. He landed on her.
"Billie get off of me," Amanda said gasping for air.
"I told you to call me dad."
"Dad, get off of her," Tre said whining. Billie sighed, got off of them, and walked back into the kitchen to find Mike. Amanda got off of Tre and sat in the chair. Tre sat up and rubbed his eyes. He tossed Amanda the remote, since she still had 30 minutes before school started. She switched the channel to Nickelodeon. The theme song to Sponge Bob Square Pants came on. Tre jumped up from the couch and started to sing along. Amanda joined in. Billie and Mike walked into the living room and stared at them with weird looks on their faces. Amanda noticed them and stopped singing. She blushed and sat back in the chair, leaving Tre still singing. He belted out the last part, while doing a weird dance, and smiled. The room filled with laughter. Amanda had fallen back in the chair. She couldn't breath. She was laughing to hard.
"Air, I need air," she said reaching a hand in the air. She was laughing way to hard. Billie grabbed her hand and helped her up. She finally calmed down and set the chair up right. Jakob and Joey ran down the stairs. They ran into the kitchen to get their breakfast. Adrienne slowly walked down the stairs. She walked into the kitchen, with Billie right behind her. Mike and Tre looked at each other, then at Amanda.
"What are you planning?" she asked nervously. Mike and Tre had evil grins on their faces as they slowly approached her. She started to get out of the chair, but Tre held her back. Mike began to tickle her.
"Stop it! Stop it! Please stop it! Daddy!" she yelled out trying to get away. Billie ran out of the kitchen and did a superman pose.
"Evil doers beware, for I, Billie is here!" he shouted before wrestiling off Tre and Mike.
"Thank you for saving me, dad!" Amanda yelled as she got away from Tre and Mike. She ran over to Billie, and literally jumped into his arms.
He smiled and set her down.
"Now go get your lunch and backpack and I'll take you to school," he said. Amanda nodded and ran off. She went back up to her room and grabbed her backpack and the Nimrod c.d. She then ran back into the kitchen and grabbed the lunch Adie had made for her.
"Bye, Adie...er...I mean mom," she said before give her new mom a peck on the cheek. She ran outside, only to be followed by Billie. They climbed into his BMW and started out the drive. Amanda put in the c.d. and turned on Reject All American. She sang along to the words.
"How do you know this already?" Billie asked.
"I've been to your concerts, I did a lot of research on your songs, and I listened to it about 100 times two days ago," she answered with a smile. Billie shook his head and smiled.
"I have a question. Why are the boys not with us?"
"They're riding with Adie. You need to get to school early so you can get your books and find your locker."
Amanda nodded she looked out the window at the passing cars.
California looked so different from Ohio. She wasn't use to all the crime and drugs on the city streets, since she lived in the outskirts of the cities. A large brick red building came into her view. It was her new school. The people there seemed to be split up into groups. Preps, Goths, Punks, Posers, Jocks, and there they were, her friends in there own separate group. Billie parked the car and wished Amanda good luck. Before she could disappear he managed to shout out, "Don't wear yourself out today! I'm teaching you how to play guitar later!" And with that he drove off. Amanda ran up to her friends.
"Hey," she said out of breath.
"Hey," Adam, Ben, and Ramona replied. The rest just smiled and waved.
"Can one of you help me find the office?" Amanda asked feeling really stupid.
"I guess I can," Ben said as he began to lead her inside.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
As they walked past the bunches of kids, he told her who to look out for and who not to worry about. Once inside, he walked her into the office.
"Hi, I'm Amanda Armstrong," she said getting the secretary's attention. The secretary cleared her throat and told Amanda which locker was hers, handed her a slip of paper that had her locker password, gave her a list of all her classes, and a list of all the teachers. Amanda took the pieces of paper and walked out of the office, only to run into Adam.
"Let me look at your classes," he said taking the list and read it.
"Okay you have history with me, Ben, Romona, and Nicole. Science with Morgan, Daniel, Jakob, Frankito, and Ben. Spanish with me, Maria, Jeff, Estelle, and Daniel. Math with Ben, me, Frankito, Joey, and Maria. French with Ben, Maria, Nicole, Ramona, Morgan, and Estelle. And I think that's it. Oh yeah, we all have the same lunch period." he said handing her the list back. She nodded and then went off to find her locker. She found it and opened it up. Her books were already there. She grabbed her binder and science books and walked away to find the classroom.

The morning periods went by fast. Amanda found herself in her last morning class waiting for the bell to ring. She watched the time tick by, slowly. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. The bell sounded for lunch. Amanda met up with Adam in the hallway. They walked towards the lunchroom with Ben, Ramona, and Nicole close behind. The walked into the cafeteria and met up with the rest of their friends. Amanda took a seat in between her step brothers. She was still a little shy around the others.
"Hey Amanda, I have a new nickname for you," Adam said.
"Oh yeah? What is it?"
"Aman," he said. Everyone started laughing.
"I swear, you ever call me that you're dead," Amanda said laughing.
"It's A Man, Da!" Daniel shouted. That set the kids into more fits of laughter.
"That's it. I'm asking Billie if I can change my name."
Lunch was soon over. Amanda and the others went to their afternoon classes.

"Yes school's out!" Daniel shouted happily running out of the building.
"Yeah I know!" Amanda said all preppy like clapping her hands and jumping up and down.
"Hey Aman, can I come over tonight?" Adam asked.
"Why?" Amanda asked, ignoring the Aman thing.
"Because I want to go swimming, and plus my dad's there."
"Then you didn't have to ask," Amanda said running off towards the parking lot. Jakob and Joey followed. They looked around for Billie's BMW. They couldn't find it.
"He's late again," Jakob said whining.
"We'll just split up and search. There is still a chance he's here," Amanda said walking off. As she was walking she bumped into one of the jocks.
"Watch where your going new kid," said the jock. His posse chuckled when he said 'new kid'.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going," Amanda said backing off a bit.
"Sorry doesn't cut it," the jock said cracking his nuckles. He shoved Amanda to the ground.
"Hey! Leave her alone!" shouted a familiar voice.
"Billie!" Amanda shouted, turning to find him walking up.
"Your...Your..."
"Your mom!" Billie cut in, not letting the guy finish. He bent over and helped Amanda up. They hurried off towards the car.
"Thank you," Amanda said getting into the car.
"Stay away from that guy, okay?" Billie said as he started to drive off.
"What happened?" Joey asked from the back seat.
"Nothing," Billie said as he started to drive off. They arrived at the house, only to be greeted by and anxious Tre.
"So how was your first day at school?" he asked running over to Amanda.
"Okay I guess," she answered walking past him into the house.
"Hey, once you get your homework done I'll teach you how to play guitar," Billie said. Amanda nodded and went upstairs to do her homework.
