Becoming Famous, chapter 5
JESS'S VIEW~~~~~~~
"Guess what Billie Joe!" I said.
"We just recorded our first single!" I told him, after a lot of discussion with the band we decided "Breaking" should be our 1st single.
"Breaking??" Billie Joe said. I paused coz I did not think he liked it.
"Great idea, before we do this album we gotta do a single and show people what you guys are about you know advertise a bit and then people will think 'I gotta get this album' and we'll put a sticker on the single saying '(whatever the album is gonna be called) is out in like a month or something later,"
Billie Joe said in one breath.
It was Tuesday and Billie Joe and I were playing some guitar.
"Wow that was quick. But when should the single be released?" I asked him.
"Hmmm....in the next two weeks, maybe?" He looked at me.
"It's fine by me, I'm gonna tell the others," I said rushing out the door.
"They all thought it was a great idea Billie Joe, your amazing," I said when I came back.
"Hey don't thank me your the one who wrote the song," said Billie Joe.
Billie Joe's phone rang.
"Hey Tre, sup?" said Billie Joe.
"Oh god, I knew they would sooner or later," Billie Joe groaned.
"I'll tell Jess, how are we gonna get out?"
"oh them guys are kool, good idea. When did you find out?"
"Hmmm. God I'm sick of these people."
"Oh I will, see ya!"
"Wow it took them a while," Billie Joe smirked after he hung up.
"What took a while?" I asked him.
"The stupid Tv and reporters have found out we are hanging here," Billie Joe said.
"They are all around the door, so Tre is hiring some guys to guard this place."
"Oh my god," I said.
"Yeah Jess your first fun filled experience with media," Billie Joe sighed.
"I wish they would just piss off and leave us alone."
"Who cares bout them for now? Let's go Jess get Rox and Macca! We are recording the "Breaking" single as of now!!" Billie Joe told me.
He rushed down the hall and knocked on Roxy's and Macca's doors and told them to come to the studio we were recording right now!
~~~A WEEK LATER~~~
~~~~ROXY'S VIEW~~~~~
"Jess!! Macca!! It's gonna be on!" I called.
It was Thursday and a radio station was going to play our song! Billie Joe, Macca, Mike and Jess came flying in and took up seats around the radio.
"This is it Rox!" said Tre in the chair next to me.
"This is a new song we just got here at Star," said the DJ.
"It's called "Breaking" by a local band you may have heard of them from gigs but these guys are set to stardom, recording an album with Green Day
and talk of a tour these guys seem to have it all! This is "Breaking" by No Trash!!!!!!" Shouted the DJ.
We all cheered! Talk about excitement! The song started and Jess was singing.
Jess came over and hugged me.
"This what we all ways wanted!" She smiled.
Macca came over and kissed my cheeck.
"Go us!" He yelled.
We were all hugging and yelling.
My phone rang.
"I just heard it, Roxy you rock!" said Mum as soon as I picked up.
"Thanks Mum, i can not believe it! can you?"
"No way! How did Jess and Mac react?" she asked.
"We were all sceaming and hugging we must have looked pretty stupid, but hey it's not every day you hear your first single on the radio!"
"At least you have a excuse! I better let you go, I'll see you soon, bye love you!"
"Bye Mum love you!"
"Do you know what you guys are doing tomorrow?" Billie Joe said.
"What?" Asked Jess, Macca and I.
"You guys are making the video clip for the song!" Mike smiled.
Jess shuddered. She can't stand cameras and that kinda stuff.
"Hey Jess, it's kool, it's not as bad as you think," Tre told her.
"Come on Jess it will be fun," Macca said.
"And Jess we have a surprise for you!" Said Billie Joe excitingly.
"What is it?" Jess looked intrested.
"It's a surprise," Billie Joe teased her.
~~~~AN HOUR LATER~~~~
"So Rox what do you think the surprise is?" Jess asked an hour later.
Jess and I had decided to take the rest of the afternoon off and go shopping in the city.
We stood there waiting for a tram.
"Hmm I don't know," I said dumbly.
"It's been how long? Two weeks now since I've seen Ben," Jess sighed.
"Why don't you text him tonight? See what's happening," I suggested.
"Great idea! I hope he talks to me remember what you and Mac said the other day what if it's true?" She asked as the tram arrived.
"You'll be kool with it you get yourself out of everything!" I told her as we got on the tram.
~~~~MACCA'S VIEW~~~~
"Have you got his number, Mac?" Mike asked me.
"Sure do, here you go," I said.
"Great Jess is gonna be thrilled when she sees Ben at the filming of the video," Tre smiled.
"Can't wait to meet to meet Ben, if he puts a smile on Jess' face he will on mine too," Billie Joe said.
"His like my best friend and he likes Jess so much he would do anything for her, you can see that," I told them.
"Well that's good Jess is a kool chick," said Tre.
"She ain't that bad looking either," I joked.
"You got that right," said Billie Joe.
~~~~THE NEXT DAY~~~~
I woke up as Mike did on the other side of the hotel bedroom.
"I call the shower," Mike yawned as he said it.
"That's fine I'm starving and I'm gonna call Ben anyway," I said.
"I'll make breakfest before my shower, Mac," Mike said.
"Thanks, dude," I yawned too, I was so excited last night I could not sleep. Neither could Mike so we stayed up and watched stupid movies.
I walked out to the kitchen and picked up the phone and dailed Ben to see if he was up yet.
~~~~2 HOURS LATER~~~~
~~~~JESS'S VIEW~~~~
Billie Joe and I walked in to the studio we were all meeting there before going to the place to do the clip.
"I'm nervous!" I confessed to Billie Joe.
"I hate being filmed and stuff," I shuddered, "It scares me, no joke."
Billie Joe smiled.
"Don't worry Jess it's 'the ponies will kill ya' not the cameras," He joked.
We both craked up laughing.
"Hey guys, what's so funny?" Tre asked.
"Don't worry," Billie Joe manged to say.
"Ready to rumbo?" Tre winked at me.
"I guess so," I mumbled.
"Well come on people!" Mike called from the hall.
We all got into Tre's and Mike's cars and we were off.
When we arrived we hopped out and went into the building, the guys had their hoods up so no one could know they were there.
We came to a room with a round table with a young man with a goatee sitting at it.
"Hey, dudes," he said waving at us.
"Hey Sam, guys this is Sam," Tre said.
"Hi," said Roxy, "I'm Roxy."
"What do you play?" Sam asked her.
"The drums," she said.
Macca and I both told him who we were and what we played.
"Can I hear the song?" Sam gestured towards the drums, guitars and microphones in the corner.
"Go on," Billie Joe nugded me.
"Ok," I agreed.
"1...2...3...4!" Sam counted us in.
We began playing and singing. After the song we seemed pretty proud of ourselves. Sam clapped.
"You guys are really good!" He exclaimed.
"Come back and sit with us," Sam called.
"So guys, what are you going for in this clip?" Sam asked us.
"Well we don't know yet," Macca said.
"Well wrote this song?"
"Jess," said Roxy.
"What is this song based on?"
"Well I wrote it a couple of years ago, when my father died and a boyfriend dumped me after like a year and I felt like I was breaking you know?
Like I was falling apart and I could not take it you know 'breaking'" I explained.
"Wow," said Billie Joe.
"I never realised what it was about," said Tre.
Tears came to my eyes it always hurts when I talk about my father.
"It's OK," Mike hugged me.
"I'm fine," I said after a minute.
"So maybe you could have...." Sam started rattling off ideas.
~~~~A WHILE LATER~~~~
~~~~BILLIE JOE'S VIEW~~~~
"Mmmm," said Macca biting his burger. It was a lunch break and the surprise was arriving soon!
"Is it nice?" Tre teased him.
"I give it a 10/10," smiled Macca.
"Sam is awesome where did you meet him?" Roxy asked Mike.
"His a old friend of mine, met him at a pub ten years ago," Mike explained.
Macca's phone rang.
"Aw man! Could you answer it for me, Rox? I'm out to lunch," pledded Macca.
We all laughed.
Roxy grabbed Macca's phone.
"Hello? Oh hey!" She walked outside. Tre winked at me it was Ben.
"Where are you?" I could hear Roxy faintly say.
"Oh Ok bye!" Roxy smiled at me when she came in as if to say he's coming! Then she held up 5 fingers to say in five minutes.
"Hey Jess come for a walk to get some coffee?" I asked.
"Ok then," she agreed and we walked to the coffee shop.
After we got our coffee I told Jess to sit for a minute.
"So how do you like it so far?" i asked.
"It's great coz there are no cameras," she took a long sip of her coffee.
"We better get back," i said. She looked at me weridly.
"OK.." she agreed and followed me back. She sounded sad.
When we got back a boy as tall as Macca with dark hair, I'm sure it's black, dressed in daggy black pants, converses and a American Idiot hoodie on
He and Jess looked like they had the same sense of fashion. He was talking to Tre, Mike, Macca and Roxy.
"Hey Billie Joe! Come meet Ben!" called Tre.
Jess looked up then the look of sadness was gone.
"Ben? What are you going here?" she asked excitingly.
~~~~JESS' VIEW~~~~
OK time out- am I dreaming? OK I'm not Ben is standing there wow! I rushed over to hug him, he picked me up and stun me around.
"Hello!" Ben said smiling at me.
"Hello! What are you doing here?!"
"I'm here to see you guys and stay for a week!" He told me as he put his arm around my waist and he continued talking to Tre, Mike, Mac and Roxy.
~~~~BILLIE JOE'S VIEW~~~~
Seeing these two with eachother I realised how much I missed Adrienne and the boys. I better get over there to meet Ben.
When I got over there Jess smiled at me.
"Billie Joe this is Ben, Ben this is Billie Joe," she said.
"Hey," He said, offering his hand.
I shook it. "Hello, what's up?" I asked.
"Oh nuthing much," Ben smiled.
"Same with me well besides the fact that your girlfriend and band are recording an album," I joked.
I got a small laugh from Ben.
~~~~MIKE'S VIEW~~~~
"So Billie Joe how do you like Ben?" I asked him.
"I think he's kool, good for Jess," Billie Joe replied.
"Really? You were kinda quiet with him," I said gently.
"Oh, was I? I'm sorry, it's just they reminded me of Adrienne and I and how much I miss her and the boys. Like how long has it been? Two months?"
"Oh OK," i muttered. I'll have to tell Tre he has been worried about Billie Joe the last few days.
