To be...or not to be....a punk. (True Story), chapter 1
To be or not to be a punk. I know, when you hear those words it sounds like your going to be a poser. But it isn't what I mean. Listen, this story is 100% true! It's based on me, on opinion and lifestyle. Music and emotion. Corny I know but true.
See, I love Green Day. I never was really a preppy girly girl, I wasn't athletic, I wasn't anything. Usually when your in grade 6-7, you don't have labels, when your in grade 8, you prepare for your title in the "castle of hell" of what you'll be known for. Like I would wear shirts and scorts when I felt like it. I always had a thing for black, the eyeliner then punk look.
I understand that you can't look the part, you have to act it. You have to be the part instead of playing dress-up and pretend you have to be what you need to be. I hated the "prep life style" the whole " LIKE OMG! Its Jesse McCartney!" I hate him. Continueing on, when I would go shopping and all that but I would only be like thats cute, usually jean shopping nothing more.
See when I get up in the morning, I blast my Green Day Cd hooked up to my iDog who dances to his fave songs like St. Jimmy and Jesus of Suburbia, pony my hair, get dressed in my jeans, black belt and hoodie then I wear eyeliner. I feel depressed in dark yah know? It's an odd feeling what I fell everyday. I'm happy but I feel so cold when I can have a warm happy feeling.
I would ask my friends what would they think of me as punk they thought okay whatever....I would always ask people what they thought emos were and all that. They would usually say its more skater then emo or goth. I would ask people what they thought Green Day was...they said emo because they wore tight pants I'm like...okay...., they say to be punk you have to dye your hair black, wear more eyeliner.
You know, people have different opinions, labels, interests, dislikes and likes and all that stuff. But when I ask their opinion on "punk" and they tell me....I think they wouldn't know what punk it even if it smacked them in the face. I read articles on this site and you know more thne they do. It's not just about what you wear that makes you look punk. I read on this site what people think being the acual "punk" or what can make you a punk is. The music and mainly your attitued you put towards it. If people can connect with this story please comment...
