Shit Happens, chapter 3
What happened was, Kevin was trying to sneak his drumsticks onto the plain. Yep, they're metal. They sound better. Anyway, the security doofs pulled him to an office on the side and stripped him. He's gay so... yeah. He came out with a smile on his face and ran to the bathroom. Use your imagination, people. We explained to the idiots that we were a band and he was the drummer. They let us pass through. Now nothing would stop us.
It was to late to turn back now. We were on the plane for our long trip from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Oakland, California. The suspense was killing me! I hoped it would last! Ha!
We made our way to our seats. Brittany and I sat together, Katt and Alaina had a seat together, and Kevin had to sit next to an eighteen-year-old guy. Think about it... Anyway, while "Katt" and Alaina were busy talking about what they were going to wear in the seat behind us, Brittany and I were to excited to talk. We mostly screamed.
"Oh my God, I'm so excited!" Brittany started.
"Me, too!"
"But what the fuck am I going to wear?!"
"I don't know! What did you bring?!"
"I don't know! You packed my clothes!"
"Yeah, everying thing except your drours!"
"Shhhhhhhhh!' somebody on the plane was pissed.
It was a lady in the front row. Apparently, they had already started the usual in-flight movie (this time "Crossroads") and I guess we were so loud that you could hear us through the headphones. We all hate that movie so Brittany and I decided to practice. She got out her acoustic and I got out my keyboard and set it on my lap.
We didn't want them banging around in the cargohold so we took them on as carry-ons. I turned it on. We played one of our songs (I wrote it- "American Zombies"), but, there were some curse words that I changed around. Most of the songs that I write I sing. Alot of people got bored of the movie (hey, can you blame them?), took off their headphones and noticed us playing. They all watched us, but, I was used to it.
We played on and on. People began to get bored with it and went back to the movie. One lady asked us if we could play for her little boy so that he would go to sleep. We said sure and sat in the empty seats next to them.
Let me tell you, this little guy was really restless. I thought he was possesed! That's kind of mean because he was mentally retarded. Okay, that's very mean! Anyway, it took us at least twenty minutes before he would go to sleep! We almost ran out of songs we knew how to play!
We were playing "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" and he (and some of the other passengers) was finally falling asleep when my cellphone rang, waking the little guy up. He only opened his eyes and quickly closed them again. I looked at it. Mom.
I answered it saying, "Hey, Ma!" I held up a finger to Brittany. She nodded and kept on singing and playing.
"Hey, Mom! What's up?"
"Hey, honey! I just wanted to make sure that ya'll were okay."
"Yeah, we're fine. Brittany and I are trying to get a little boy to sleep."
"Oh, how nice."
I had never know her to say something like "Oh, how nice" before.
"Is something wrong, Ma?"
"Oh, no. Why do you ask?"
"You're just talking different than you usually do."
"Different how?"
"Mom, you just said 'Why do you ask?'"
"Oh. I'm just tired."
"Oh, okay." but I didn't believe her. "I have to get back, Mom."
"Do you have to? It's weird not having you here. I just want to talk to you for a while."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Well, if you really have to go..."
"Yeah, I kinda do."
I heard her sigh.
"Alright, well, bye."
"Bye."
I waited to hear her hang up. She didn't.
"Mom! I really have to go now!"
"Don't talk to me about that! You didn't hang up either!"
"I know you just wanted to start something!" I laughed.
"I guess. Well, bye."
"Bye." I hung up.
The kid had fallen asleep and Britt had gone back to her seat. It was about 11:00 at night. I was beat. I went to my seat, turned the lights out and fell asleep.
