Not Saint Jimmy, chapter 5
"PANCAKES" Teresa yelled as she ran inside.
Everyone stopped and stared at her.
"You're happy," Tre said.
"State the obvious Tre" Teresa remarked.
"Who died?" Mike asked worriedly.
"I am offended that you think of me in that uncouth and un... erm... how do you say un - nice?" Teresa asked.
Billie laughed.
"Seriously though," Teresa said, "aren't I allowed to be happy? I am 15 after all, hang on... o shit." Tez said.
"What?" Billie asked.
"I just told Tom I was 14! Damn you birthdays. You make me forget how old I am."
"You mean you normally know how old you are?" Tre asked, he seemed surprised.
"Yeeeees" Teresa said slowly.
"Oh" everyone laughed. Except Billie.
"Who's Tom?" he asked.
"Erm... not entirely sure." Teresa replied.
"What do you mean?" Billie asked.
"Well I kinda only just met him," she said the last part hurriedly. "And he invited me to a house party tonight, can I go? Please? Pretty please?"
"How old is he?" Billie asked.
"16" Teresa replied. Billie looked at her for a while and then sighed.
"Ok, I guess telling you you can't go would be hypocritical, as would telling you not to get stoned, pissed or laid." Adrienne, Mike, Tre, Joey and Teresa nodded. Jakob looked confused.
"How can you get pissed?" he asked. Everyone laughed. Teresa sat down and poured a generous helping of maple syrup onto her pancakes, trying to forget all the worst case scenarios going through her mind about tonight.
By five to eight that evening Teresa was ready to go. She had showered, applied make up (lots of eyeliner) and changed into a pair of black baggy bench trousers, converse, and a pink Green Day t-shirt with a black top underneath. Billie Joe stared at her as she walked down the stairs. Tre wolf whistled and Billie promptly hit him.
"Do you HAVE to wear that top?" Billie asked, "It's embarrassing, and where did you get it?" Tez laughed.
"I went to one of your gigs, the Milton Keynes one on Sunday!"
"You were there? And I never knew! I hate your god damned mother she... "
There was a knock at the door. Billie stopped bitching about Tez's mum and opened it. Tom was there in a Clash tee and jeans. He had his old black converse on and eyeliner.
"Your chariot, madam," Tom bowed stupidly whilst opening the door of his car. She laughed and climbed in.
Tom's point of view
O God she looked sexy. How old did she say she was again? 14? 15? He asked.
"15" she replied. I smiled, not too young. Well, too young for that, but I wouldn't dream of trying to, I mean Billie would rip out my throat. Unless she didn't mind? No, bad thought. Billie would definitely tear out my throat. Plus it would be her first time, which should be special, right? Yea. So a house party wasn't the place for it. But she was so hot. BAD THOUGHTS! How do you get bad thoughts out of your heads.
Author's POV
They arrived at the party and climbed out the car. Teresa was nervous. Her face paled. Why had she agreed to this? She hated crowds and people and noise. Tom noticed her face whitening and grabbed her hand.
"C'mon, you'll be fine if you stay with me!" He grinned and dragged her indoors.
There were so many people. Tom seemed to know where he was going and was dragging her through the different groups. He stopped suddenly.
"Dude!" he yelled.
"Hey man!" Someone replied, "How's it going?"
"It's going good, Petey boy."
"Who's the pretty lady?" Peter asked. The rest of the group looked at Tom waiting for an answer.
"This is Tez." He replied.
"Well hello," said a boy standing next to Peter, taking Tez's free hand and kissing it. Tom slapped him over the head.
"Ouch! I was only being polite!"
"Scaring the shit outta her more like!" Peter laughed. "Jimmy here isn't always controlled by his cock by the way." He said pointingly to Teresa.
"Good to know," she replied, laughing slightly whilst looking around. There were so many people, moving and talking. The music was loud. She could feel people staring at her. She moved closer to Tom. He slowly slipped his arm round her waist so know one could see. She felt safe with him. He looked down at her. He loved her vulnerability. Not in a sick, she'll be easy to manipulate way but he loved the fact that he could protect her and that she wanted him to protect her. He smiled.
"Yo, Tom, wanna go outside?" Peter asked. Tom looked at Tez and she shrugged,
"Sure," he said and they walked through the crowds into the garden, grabbing some drinks on the way out It was quieter here. They walked to the back of the garden where there were no other people and it was darker. Tez stayed close to Tom. She became very aware of the fact that she was the only girl in the group. Peter, Jimmy, the other random dude that was with them and Tom sat in a circle. Tez sat in-between Tom's legs so her back was against his chest. He slipped his arms around her waist and she leant against him. Peter took out a packet of cigarettes and handed one to everyone.
"You smoke?" He asked Tez. She shrugged.
"Want one?" he asked. She thought for a moment, then shook her head. Everyone lit up and soon the air around filled with smoke. Tez coughed. Jimmy looked at her, one eyebrow raised. She stared back. He shrugged and looked away.
"Ok Tez. Tell us about yourself." Peter said. She looked at him quickly. Then looked away. She shrugged.
"Do you actually speak?" he asked. She smiled slowly.
"No."
"But you just spoke!" Jimmy said. Everyone laughed.
"What, it's true!" Tez just smiled.
"Your like a puppy," she said.
"What, cuz I'm cute?" Jimmy replied.
"You wish. No, cause your so innocent and easily confused."
"I'm not innocent! I'm smooking."
"Uhuh, and how old are you?"
"18"
"Then your allowed to smoke so you ARE innocent!"
"Shut up," he mumbled.
"How I love being right!" he flipped her off, she retaliated by kicking him.
"OUCH"
"Don't make naughty signs with your fingers then!" She said in a motherly kinda of way. Everyone laughed again.
"Okay okay, break it up," Tom said.
"But I was having fun!" Teresa whined.
"Tough." Tez frowned at him.
"Anyway, Teresa. Now that we have established that you do talk, tell us about yourself."
"Ask questions then, I don't just talk about myself. What o you wanna know?"
"How old are you?"
"15, today."
"Happy Birthday. Where you from?"
"England."
"Uhuh. Why did you move to America then?"
"I got hooked on heroin."
"What?"
"I got hooked on heroin."
"How?"
"Life sucked, so I was out one day and someone offered me some so I took it and never looked back, til I moved to America. You guys make it hard to find the stuff."
"Why did life suck?"
"Long story."
"Long night."
Tez looked at him. The sighed.
"Okay. So til I was 11 I had a pretty normal life, you know, school, family blah blah blah. Anyway. When I was 11 my parents decided that they needed a break, from my sis, who was a complete cow. She had anger problems and unlike me, she let out all her on things and people, where as I bottled it all up inside. So she was a pain so they took us to a care home and left us there. After about 3 months I was moved because I did something... er... .I think I smashed a window and they thought I needed to get away from my remaining family.
So I moved to another care home. Got fostered but didn't get on with their brat of a kid so I was sent back. Got another foster home, got sent back. After about 4 foster homes I moved care homes again. The kids there all thought I was crazy cause I wore black and like Green Day and MCR and Blink and shit like that. So I got pretty down and then found heroin.
The staff figured something was up cause I was happy. So after a couple more months they found the stuff and decided I would do better outside the country. So I moved here. Went to a few more care homes and foster homes and then one day Billie Joe Armstrong turns up with my parents and Adie and says how he is my father and stuff. My parents agree and so I move in with him."
Peter stared at her.
"Riiiight. You talk a lot." Teresa laughed.
"Not really. That was a kind of rushed version, I just kinda went on and on. I haven't spoken much for the past 4 months, so I guess I'm making up for it!"
"Would it have anything to do with being nervous?" Teresa looked at the guy who had spoken.
"Probably."
"Why you nervous?" Jimmy asked. Teresa shrugged.
"I'm not a huge fan of people, I prefer animals."
"Why?"
"They don't ask questions."
"Oh" Peter and the other boy laughed.
"Name's Mike," Teresa nodded.
They sat for a while just talking. Teresa got to know Tom a bit more and found out that everything that she found out about him made her like him anymore. Not only was he super ht but he was sweet and caring as well. She was happy to sit and listen (she'd stopped talking so much) to the boys talk about everything and anything.
"You 'k?" Tom whispered in her ear a couple of hours later. She nodded and smiled up at him. He nodded back and kissed the top of her head. She shivered, not from the cold. He felt it and tightened his hold around her waist. She smiled soflty.
About an hour later Teresa and Tom were in his car on the way back.
"So, what do you think of my mates?" Tom asked.
"They're cool, pity they're all guys though."
"Why?"
"I don't have a girly mate to gossip bout you guys with." Tom laughed.
"Pete's got a girlfriend, but she wasn't there tonight."
"I figured."
"Stop being a smart ass!"
"Name one good reason why?" Tom stopped the car and got out. Teresa did the same. She leant against the bonnet, staring at the guy in front of her.
"C'mon, I want one good reason." He came closer and his lips touched her. His tongue slipped into her mouth and she slipped her arms round his neck, one of her hands resting on the back of his neck one playing with his hair. His arms wound around her waist. After a couple of minutes he pulled away.
"Cause I don't kiss smart asses," he whispered in her ear.
"Well you just did! So that don't count, haha!" He shrugged.
"O well, it was fun." She smiled flirtily at him. Just then the door to the house opened.
"Teresa's home!" Joey yelled. Tom stepped quickly away from Teresa just as Billie walked out and dragged Joey back into the house.
"I'll see you sometime then." Teresa said as Tom came towards her again. He nodded.
"I'll call you tomorrow, ok?" She nodded. He kissed her again and then she watched as he drove away. She turned and walked into the house.
"Joey for Christ's sake you don't just walk out when people are kissing!" Teresa laughed when she heard Billie scolding Joey. She walked into the living room where they were.
"Sorry Teresa!" Joey apologised with his head down looking very ashamed of himself.
"It's ok little man!" She said ruffling his hair. "We were done anyway." Billie looked at her, eyebrows raised. She laughed.
"Why you up so late anyway joe? It's three in the morning." He shrugged.
"Couldn't sleep."
"Fair enough. I'm gunna go to bed, I'm shattered, night all, thanks for everything Billie!" She walked upstairs to her room changed into her pyjama's and was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
Everyone stopped and stared at her.
"You're happy," Tre said.
"State the obvious Tre" Teresa remarked.
