Not Saint Jimmy, chapter 8
Christmas day dawned. The sky was cloudy, promising more snow. There was already a thick layer of it covering everything. Teresa got up and pulled on her clothes. She slunk out the back door and walked up to the stable. The wind bit into her and she shivered. She led the horses out onto the snow covered field and watched them gallop about for a while before turning to go and muck out the stables.
She entered the house to the wonderful smell of pancakes. Dumping her jacket she walked through to the kitchen where the rest of the family was. Billie walked up and gave a her a hug, his warm arms embracing her shivering body, she hugged him back.
"Merry Christmas baby!" he whispered. She smiled into his chest.
"Merry Christmas dad," he let go of her and sat back down. She pulled out a chair and sat down. As she piled pancakes onto her plate jasper came and rested his head on her knees. He followed her pretty much everywhere. She grinned and petted him before splashing tons of maple syrup on her breakfast.
The presents were all stacked under the tree. Apparently everyone was coming to the Armstrong's house for Christmas so half the presents were actually just lying on the floor feet away form the fake evergreen tree. Teresa grinned as she entered. It was the first time in a couple of years that she was gonna get Christmas presents. She sat on the sofa, furthest away from the tree. Something inside her told her not to expect anything so she sat as far away from everyone as she could, then no one would notice her... .which was a good thing.
"Tez honey, come over here!" Billie said as he entered. She grinned and crawled over to his lap, where she sat. She didn't care if it was babyish, it felt good. He leant back against the legs of the armchair and slipped his arms round her waist in a fatherly way. Everyone else began to sit down. Adie, Claudia and Brittany together on the sofa, Tre and Mike each side of Billie and Teresa and the other kids sitting in a small group on the floor next to the tree. Joey grabbed a parcel, looked at the label and threw it to his mum. He grabbed another and threw it to Frankito. Another to Jakob, another to Tre and so on until everyone had a present. Then everyone proceeded to open them. This organised fashion of present opening didn't last long. Before long Tre got bored and grabbed an armful of presents and ran out the room with them screaming 'mine... al mine!" Everyone laughed. Tre returned holding a pair of black socks and threw them at Billie.
"Someone love's you mister punk rocker!" he said. Billie laughed, catching the socks and dropping them on the floor beside him. Teresa looked at the large pile of presents gathering around her and her grin widened, if that was possible.
"Like 'em?" Billie asked in her ear over the loud screeches and wails from the kids... and Tre. She nodded quickly.
"Yeah... thanks dad, this is great!" He smiled and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before getting up to answer the door, the doorbell was going. He returned followed by Tom. Teresa jumped up.
"Hey!" she said and hugged him.
"Hey babe," he said softly into her hair, "having fun?"
"You betcha! Now you owe me a present!" he laughed.
"And vice versa!" She looked at him for a second and then up the stairs.
"NO!" Billie said, following her eyes. She pouted.
"That means I have to actually give him something I spent money on!" She whined.
"Yes," Billie replied a smiled on his lips.
"You're mean!" Teresa said, sticking out her tongue.
"I am the Queen of Evil!" Billie said in a high voice, turning round and walking off, wiggling his hips. Teresa laughed and grabbed an untouched present from the floor, she looked at the label.
"Yep, that's yours!" she said, handing it to Tom.
"Thanks honey, here," he handed her a present. Everyone was looking at them. Teresa sighed and grabbed Tom's hand, dragging him upstairs to her bedroom. She heard the noise from downstairs begin again and sat down on the bed. She slowly opened the gift wrap. A small red velvet box appeared. She looked at it for a while.
"Open it!" Tom said. She giggled and pulled him down next to her. She lifted up the lid and gasped. A small chain link necklace lay in the box. The silver gleamed in the light of the room. She looked at the charm, it was a small guitar and there were a couple of small pink stones on it.
"I love it!" she said, slipping it round her neck and letting it fall so it lay just above her bust. She leant up and gave Tom a quick kiss. He slipped his arm around her waist and they fell back on the bed. He began to kiss her neck as she ran her hands through his hair. He looked at her and pulled her closer to him.
"I love you," he whispered against her ear, he kissed her ear lobe, making her shiver. She giggled and pushed him away.
"Open your present now!" he grinned and picked up the small object. He took off the wrapping paper and a CD fell out. He picked it up and grinned.
"Thanks babe!" he said looking at the cover of the Sum 41 album. She smiled and they lay in each others arms. She listened to the beating of his heart, His hand rubbed her side. They said nothing, they didn't need to, they were both content to just lie, enjoying the warmth of the other.
Suddenly a flash broke into Teresa's thoughts. She jumped up quickly. A cameraman grinned at her through her window.
"Shit. Dad! Dad!" she yelled. Billie ran into the room.
"What?" he said panting.
"You need to go to the gym," she said, he looked at her, Tom was sniggering slightly. "Oh and erm, some fucktard just took a picture of me and tom," she pointed out the window to the 'fucktard' who stared at Billie, terrified.
"What were you to doing?" he asked her.
"Nothing, we were just hugging!" Billie nodded and picked up the phone, dialling 911.
"Hello? Yeah, we have a stalker situation," he said into the mouthpiece. The journalist yelped slightly and dropped out of the tree running off. Billie grinned and put down the phone.
"dad, you also need to learn manners, you say bye to people on the phone!"
"There was no one on the phone, Tez, I was faking." Teresa looked at him and shrugged.
"Whatever biatch!" Tom and Billie raised their eyebrows. Teresa sighed and walked out the door.
