Thriller, chapter 1
I twirled in my brand new dress and started dancing with someone new. It was our big grad party and Mark Adams High had rented out the same dance club that they rented every year for the graduating kids.
"Hey, Lana," Jakob said coming up beside me and wrapping his arm around my waist.
"Hey," I replied as I started to dance with him.
When the party had finally ended, Jakob lead me out of the club and towards his car. I ran my fingers along the smooth wall as we walked. We rounded the last corner towards his car and out of the corner of my eye I saw printing all along the huge wall. I half turned to read it; It was a huge list of names. There was Danielle Parker, Deanna Turner, Rachel Mcknabin, Courtenay Wells, Taylor Lee and many, many more. I recognized a few as the graduating kids from years before. Then, it hit me. All of the names on the wall were of kids who had graduated years before.
I leaned in to get a closer look and noticed that a few names had been crossed off. Dayna Turk; she had been killed a few years back. Her name was crossed off. I read the rest of the crossed off names and thought back to all the front page stories of murders. Every person that was crossed off on the wall was dead. I stumbled back into Jakob's arms. He gave me a puzzled look and helped me into the car.
As he was pulling out, I saw something hurry by in the bushes. I squinted to see him or her clearer, but it was too dark. He drove me back to my place and walked me up the driveway. He kissed me good bye and then hurried back to his car.
Laying in bed that night, I thought back to the wall and the person I had seen. I shuddered and shut my eyes. I couldnt believe all those people were dead. All the people I used to know and be friends with. Gone. My stomache got tight and I rolled over and sipped from the glass of water beside my bed.
I woke up in the morning, ate a small breakfast, and then made my way downstairs to let the dog out. I hooked him to his chain noticing the cover page of the newspaper. "Mark Adams Highschool Graduate Found Dead Last Night Outside Of The Mall; Gina Simmons had suffered a shot to the head and 2 shots in the back." My jaw fell open. Gina, My best friend Gina. I brushed a tear off my cheek with my pajama shirt sleeve and went back into the house still gripping the newspaper. I read on: "Suspect still not found. Doctors say that judging by..."
