Hungry Eyes, chapter 17
The vacation that had taken place, shared by Andrea, Tre', Kasey, Erik, Brooke, Mike, and Billie Joe, had to come to a grudging end, everything was packed up and driven back to California. The break was well deserved and deffinately well missed.
Since their stay at the beach, Brooke had found herself a boyfriend, by the name of Michael, and Billie Joe had also gotten back in touch with a girl by the name of Adrienne, who he'd met in one of Green Day's first tours, but other than that, nothing had changed greatly.
After getting back, and settling back into daily routines, everything returned to normal. Andrea continued working at the café, along with Brooke, Kasey, and Erik, while Tre', Billie, and Mike continued their gigs at The Gillman, attracting more and more fans.
The members of Green Day soon began to grow restless with their old material, and Billie Joe began composing new songs, while Tre' and Mike began working on the instrumentals to go with the lyrics, tributing their own little tid-bits of words here and there.
The crisp months of spring soon disappeared into summer, which, in turn, faded into fall, which left the friends where they were currently, October 31st. Halloween.
Tonight, a celebration was being held at The Gilman. Show comers were invited to dress in their Halloween attire, bands would still play, just there would be certain festivities that night. Andrea, Kasey, Brooke, and Erik, of course, were going to be there, sadly, Adrienne and Michael couldn't make it themselves.
Green Day was also playing as the first band of the night, which was quite exciting, meaning the friends would have the rest of the night to enjoy the following shows without worrying about when three members of their group would have to leave to get on stage.
In the front, bouncing along to the music of Green Day, who were looking oh so spiffy for the night Tre' clad in a police officers unfiform, Billie Joe in his drag queen get-up, and Mike sporting his Tarzan look, was, of course, Andrea, dressed as a flower child, Brooke, lavished in a dog outfit, Kasey, posing as a llama, and Erik, who was dressed as Boy George. The crowd was bouncing around, the environment slightly hot and sweaty, but still enjoyable.
At the end of Green Day's performance, the microphone was comandeered by none other than Tre', who grinned smugly, twirling his handcuffs about on his fore-finger, "How's everyone doing?" He asked excitedly.
All around, roars raised into the air, answering in a different, yet positive way.
"Yeah, that's what I fuckin' thought," Tre' laughed, then paused, listening to the screams and noises emitting from the crowd. He peered around the room, then once again offered his sly grin, "Say..." he continued to spin the handcuffs around his finger, "These handcuffs look awful... lonely, don't you guys think?"
The crowd immediately gave their shouts of agreement.
Tre' eyed those standing at the front of the stage, which were of course, Andrea, Brooke, Kasey, and Erik, "Well now... a hippy... don't you flower power people smoke pot and shit?"
Andrea looked up at Tre', rolling her eyes and chuckling.
"You do know that's illegal... might just have to..." Tre' grabbed for Andrea's arm, pulling her up on stage, and clamped a ring from the handcuffs around her wrist and one on his own, "Arrest you," He chuckled, the crowd screamed even louder now.
Andrea looked at Tre', then out to the crowd, her face grew slightly red, though she waved with her free hand at everyone in the building, then looked down to see her friends laughing insanely, whom she was quick to give the finger to, but lowered her gesture just as quickly.
"Now that wasn't very hippy-like," Kasey grinned, shaking her fnger at Andrea, who only chuckled in response.
Tre' then announced Green Day's leave, and the band members, along with Andrea, who Tre' refused to uncuff, exited the stage, allowing the next performing band to take their place.
After getting off-stage, Kasey, Brooke, and Erik greeted the sweaty band members, and gave them each a water-bottle, which was taken appreciatively and chugged.
"Thanks," Panted Mike.
"No problem."
After quenching their thirst, the Green Day members went with their friends into the crowd, gathering candy from miscellaneous bowls sitting around the place, moshing to the music or taking a seat at a nearby table. They were all really enjoying themselves, having the best Halloween they'd had in a long time.
The night wound on, not calming down one bit as it ensued, but like all good things, the time at The Gilman had to come to an end, and their Halloween celebration was over. Everyone shuffled from the building, heading home, or wherever else they were going for the night. Billie Joe and Mike headed out, while Brooke set off in her car aswell. Andrea, however, was still handuffed to Tre', which didn't bother either one of the two people in the slightest. The only problem it seemingly presented was the fact that neither of them could drive, therefore, that left Kasey driving them to Andrea's house, while Erik followed them in his car, so he could get Kasey when Andrea and Tre' were inside.
"I had... [b]the most[/i] awesome night," Grinned Kasey, as Andrea and Tre' struggled to get out of the car.
"I know," Andrea agreed, "It was the best Halloween in a long time, no question about it."
"Yep." Added Tre'.
After a few more breif exchanges of words, Kasey was safely in her and Erik's car and they drove away, ready to get home and get some rest. Andrea and Tre' also tiredly headed inside, kicking off their shoes and quickly throwing on some comfortable clothes to sleep in.
Tre' had almost taken up permanent residence in Andrea's home, one day he came over and had continued to return ever night, only going to his house when he needed more clothing, or to have band practice, which rarely took place in his home anyway.
Upon changing out of their Halloween costumes, Tre' and Andrea found their way onto Andrea's couch, snuggling together, not bothering to turn on the televison set. Tre' had snaked his arms comfortingly around Andrea, holding her close under the blankets, while wrapping his larger frame around her own. Their heads laid on an assortment of pillows, supplying a much needed rest for their tired necks, seeings as they were bobbing all night long.
"You know... we've almost got enough songs together to begin recording another album..." Tre' whispered, his breath catching on Andrea's ear, sending several pleasing shivers down her back, followed by tiny goosebumps.
"Oh?"
"Mmm-hmm. We just have to figure out what we're going to do and everything."
"Awesome. I'm happy for you, I can see playing music truly makes you happy."
Tre' moved his head to rest against the back of Andrea's, and grinned upon her neck, "Yeah, it does... makes me almost as happy as cuddlin' with you."
Andrea chuckled, "Come now, I know music has to make you more happy than me, or at least equally happy. You always smile the sincerest, or seem more excited when you're on stage..."
"Maybe, but you do make me extremley happy. I'd never go as far as saying music makes me more happy then you do. Though, the equal thing may be a close tie... but... I'd always pick you over my drumming..."
Andrea smiled, feeling utterly warm inside. What Tre' just said could seem like such a simple sentence, but mean something of such a large magnitude, she was truly happy, "Thank you Tre'..."
"It was the truth..."
Andrea found herself being pulled closer, "I know..."
"Mmmmm..."
Andrea chuckled at Tre's sleepy mumblings, then turned around, to give him a quick kiss and a "Good night" then turned back over, laying down and preparing to sleep, reliving all the nights events in her sleep, and other added tid-bits of visions.
The sun peeked through Andrea's blinds, rays of light streaming into the living room, hittign the bodies and faces of the two people lying on the couch.
"Mmm..." Andreas eyes clenched then tiredly opened.
Tre' also woke, "You really need to start clsoing those god damn things... or at least buy some curtains..." He tried to pull the blanket back over his head but, they were taken from his grasp as Andrea stood and began folding them, taking away Tre's chance of sleep, which he accepted disgruntedly.
"No fair..." He whined, then stood hismelf, heading for the bathroom, then for the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast.
The two sat quietly at the kitchen table, munching on random breakfast foods.
"So, what are you going to do today?" Inquired Andrea.
"Actually, I was going to head over to Billie's, get some mote of the record stuff straightened out, then get ready for another show at The Gilman tonight..."
Andrea nodded, "Alright. I have to leave for work in an hour... so, I'm going to start getting ready."
"Mmm-kay, I'm gonna get dressed then."
Andrea headed off to the shower, while Tre' headed for what room Andrea was supposed to sleep in, but only used it for guests, and she kept clothes in the closest, which, meant Tre' kept his there aswell. He threw together an outfit, and even took the liberty of placing Andrea's work clothes on the bed for her, then was out to the living room, where he waited for Andrea to finish up, so he could give her a goodbye and start his day.
Soon, the sound of the familair running water came to an abrupt end, and Andrea emerged from the bathrrom, clad in a towel, while holding a brush in her hand, desperately trying to brush her hair.
"I laid your clothes out," Tre' called to her.
"Thanks!" She then headed quickly for the bedroom, getting dressed, applying make-up, doing whatever else it was she needed to do, then came back into the living room, keys jinglign in her hand.
"I guess I'll be off to work then."
Tre' nodded and grinned at her, "Are you going to come to the show tonight?"
Andrea thought for a moment, then shook her head sadly, "Sorry, I'm closing tonight... I won't be able to make it..."
Tre' stood, "It's ok. You're at all my other shows, how about I get Billie drop me off at the café tonight, then I drive you home?"
Andrea smiled, "That would be great."
"Awesome."
Andrea and Tre' then headed outside to Andrea's car, getting in and departing the house. Tre' was dropped off at Billie Joe's home with a quick kiss and greetings to give to Mike and Billie when he entered the house, then Andrea was off to work to put in a good day's labor until the end of her shift.
Outside the café, around nine o'clock, right before closing time, a car's screeching wheels were heard speeding into the parking lot. Andrea, Kasey, Erik, and Brooke all rushed out into the front to see what the commotion was, greeted almost immeadiately by three very spastic looking Green Day members.
"What's going on?" Asked Brooke curiously.
They all grinned widely.
"Guys... we got... an actual record deal!" Tre' screamed.
It took a moment before the information could sink in, then an uproar of squeals errupted in the café, Andrea raced forward, diving into Tre's opened arms, "Oh my god! That's amazing! I'm so happy for you guys!"
Billie nodded, "Yes! The label is Reprise."
Kasey's eyes grew wide, "That's a major label."
"I know!" Mike grinned.
Another round of screaming emitted, followed by a lot of hugging and congradulating.
"This is fuckin' awesome!" Commented Erik, patting each of the guys on the back, "when are you guys going in to start recording?"
"Well, we have to go meet our producer next week, then get right to work, according to the guy who signed us," Answered Billie.
"Ah. So you're going to be leaving soon?"
The band members nodded, "But we'll be back before any touring or anything, so there'll be plenty of time for celebrating," Tre' assured.
"Good, we'll save the partying for when you get back... so nothing... dangerous happens before getting your big break." Kasey chuckled.
The friends conversed awhile longer, then Andrea decided it was time to close the café. after which everyone headed home, thinking only of the excitement that had taken place that night.
Since their stay at the beach, Brooke had found herself a boyfriend, by the name of Michael, and Billie Joe had also gotten back in touch with a girl by the name of Adrienne, who he'd met in one of Green Day's first tours, but other than that, nothing had changed greatly.
