Billie Joe Took Me Away From That Place And I Start A New Life, chapter 3
"Lets go," Billie said walking towards the door buckling his belt.
"Where?" I asked
"I don't care. Let's go anywhere you want. Nothing's stopping us."
"I'm not sure where. Won't people see you?"
"Hmm...I guess that might stop us. Do you wanna just ride around?"
"A long ride?"
"Sure, why? What are you thinking?" he asked suspiciously
"I want you to drive past my house," I said quietly
"Oh, sure."
"So do you guys leave tomorrow?"
"Nope, we have another show here just a different part of town," he explained
"Cool! I didn't want you to go anywhere." He smiled and took my hand
"After tomorrow's show we are done with the tour."
"That's kind of sad though."
"Yeah, there's good and bad things about it. The good thing is..." He went silent and looked at the ground as the leaves blew across he shoes.
"What?" I asked quietly as we got in the car
"Touring is fun. It's tiring. It's the best feeling to make so many people happy. But sometimes you just need to sit down and take a look at life. Drinking every night, being able to walk out on stage and see everyone flip out, little girls crying, and seeing how we effect people is unbelievable. I don't think I have ever gone one night in a concert, and not thought about how crazy it is that all these people want to hear us. I mean they all come just to see US. Kids that are like 2 come with their parents. The age range is from like babies to grandparents."
"I know, its amazing. It really is. I'm so glad that I'm...well, I'm glad I can be here with you," I said.
"I'm glad you're here too. It's nice having someone other than Tre and Mike to talk to."
As we went passed my house I asked Billie to stop. When I walked in and tried to shut the door quietly I tripped and made a loud noise. No one came around the corner...all I heard was my dad say,
"Dumbass must be back." My brother replied by saying,
"God dammit, why can't she just go away?" I was glad Billie Joe heard them. I wanted him to know that everything was true about how they treat me like shit. I went to my room and filled six old backpacks full of stuff and walked out the front door hoping I wouldn't ever come back. Billie helped me, and teased me about my posters. Of course, one of them was one where he is jumping in the air and his ass is showing.
"See, you stare at my ass all the time!"
"Whatever, Billie," I said laughing hysterically.
I didn't say anything to my parents. They were eating dinner at little round table that only fit three people. I was never included. I'm pretty sure they don't care I'm gone. Oh well, I'm better off.
We decided to go to the mall after all. Girls stared at us, and people recognized him, but no one really crowded us. I was glad. I'm sure he was too. But he was always happy when a fan would ask for and autograph. Things were really connecting. I think this is gonna work.
"Lets go see Josh," Billie said.
"Yeah, I should see when I work again." As we pulled up we looked through the giant display window.
"Oh, I forgot you bought that guitar that I've loved for so long. That's why I got the job. So I could play it."
"Yeah, you can play it when we get back to the hotel." Josh was sitting in there all by himself. When he saw us he walked to the door.
"So how has you last week or so been?" he asked with a look on his face like Mike did the next morning I came out of Billie's room.
"Um...yeah...it's been great. When do I work next?" I asked trying to get him away from that subject.
"You can come in whenever you want. Can I get your number just in case I need to help my dad, and you need to come in?"
"Well, I don't really have one. I moved out."
"Moved out!" he said laughing "Already? Where are you staying?" Billie Joe laughed and looked at me. Putting his arm around my shoulder and hugging me tight showing Josh where I was staying. "I see!" Josh laughed "So I'm calling Mr. Armstrong's phone if I need you."
"Alright," me and Billie said.
"Where?" I asked
"I don't care. Let's go anywhere you want. Nothing's stopping us."
