409 In Your Coffeemaker, chapter 5
The next day Jen woke Mike up and got dressed. They went downstairs and found Matty there, he was still upset from yesterday but he slowly but surely got over it. Jen got breakfast sorted and Gideon then came down, there mum was already at work and there dad then came down and got some coffee ready, he had the morning paper with him and started reading it while drinking his coffee and sat down.
"Gideon your going to school today right" Jens dad asked
"Yes dad" Gideon answered
"Jennifer take Matty to school with you" Jens dad told her
"Sure but isn't he old enough to go by himself" Jen asked
"I heard about yesterday so Matthew your going with Jennifer, Jennifer your taking Matthew" Jens dad exclaimed
"Yes dad" Jen and Matty chanted
They got to school and Jen took her guitar with her, it was a purple Fender Stratocaster which Jen got for her birthday when she was 13. Jen dragged Matty out and Mike went along with them to school. They got to school and met up with Tre and Billie Joe, they went to there lockers and got there books and went to there first lesson which was Music, they loved Music because their teacher Mr Appleman let them do want they wanted just as long as they were quiet about it. Jen went up to the teacher and asked him "Excuse me Mr Appleman can we go into the Theatre and practice"
"Sure as long as there is no-one there, maybe Eyal though" Mr Appleman answered. They went into the theatre and Mike got a spare bass from the store cupboard, Tre set up a drum kit and Billie Joe had his guitar with him.
"Hey Jen" Eyal shouted from the tech's office
"Eyal you're here yay" Jen shouted
"Let me just come down" Eyal shouted then going down the steps and arriving to the stage
"I can't believe your going to college soon" Jen said
"I know its gonna be a dump without me" Eyal said proudly
"Although I'll be rid of my brother" Jen remarked
"Gids isn't that bad" Eyal exclaimed
"I guess" Jen agreed
"Hey guys got a bass" Mike shouted
"Dude it only has 3 strings" Eyal shouted, noticing Jen was blushing, Mike left to get another guitar
"You like Mike don't you" Eyal remarked
"No I don't" Jen protested blushing more
Mike got a guitar and Eyal went back to the tech office to sort out the lights, Tre had set up and Jen put her guitar down and grabbed the mic, Billie Joe and Mike had plugged in their guitars into the amps and they started playing 'At the Library' with Jen singing instead of Billie Joe, whenever they practiced Jen sang instead of Billie Joe and once at a gig Mike pulled her up and she sang one or two songs. They then started singing 'Going to Pasalacqua', Jen always had a problem singing that because Billie Joe at one point had a crush on Jen and wrote that song about her but Billie Joe got over the crush quickly. They stopped after that song and started talking about the gig for Gideons band coming up.
"So when exactly is it" Tre asked
"Tomorrow, the bands called 'The Junkies'" Jen told them
Mike then reminded Jen "Don't forget your bands performing this Sunday"
"Thanks a bunch" Jen said sarcastically
"I love your band especially the name" Billie Joe remarked
"Daisy Rock" Billie Joe and Jen said in unison
"Is Aaron still in the band or what" Tre asked
"He's just a back-up guitarist really he only comes to some gigs and he phoned me saying he couldn't come" Jen explained
The end of the day came and Jen and Mike dragged Matty back home. That night Jen played her guitar in her room. Instead of playing her stratocastor she played her mums old acoustic guitar she had in the 60's, it had loads of hippy peace stickers on it but Jen still loved it. She played 'All you need is love' by the Beatles and sang along with it. Mike then came in and started singing but Jen stopped.
"Nothing that you can know that isn't known" Mike sang
"Hey Mike" Jen said
"Why did you stop?" Mike asked
"Dunno" Jen replied
"Pass me the guitar" Mike asked
"Sure be careful my mum got it the day of Woodstock and she loves it to death" Jen explained passing the guitar over to Mike
"All you need is love.." Mike started singing 'All you need is love', Jen blushed and hoped Mike wouldn't notice, as he ended he asked "Whatcha think"
"Its great" Jen said blushing
"I feel like that about one girl I know" Mike told Jen
"Who?" Jen asked hoping it was her
"You" Mike said leaning closer to kiss her, they kissed and then Jen whispered in Mikes ear "All you need is love"
