Armatage Shanx, chapter 1

"YES YES YES! WE HAVE ENOUGH FUCKING MONEY!!!!" I screamed.

After saving up since I was 14, I had enough money to move to California. Lisa and Natalie had started saving up too around the same time as me. We had this plan. When we had the cash, move to California to try and get a record deal and start anew. Get rid of our tainted past and start again. It was for the best.
We were jumping on my bed in our flat. We lived in Norwich in England in this small flat on King Street, famous for being the Red Light District. Yeah, it wasn't great, but we were all 18 (apart from me, it wasn't my birthday until Saturday) and had a shitty past. We moved in here when we were 16 and surprisingly never missed a payment.

=We had all got at least one job each. Natalie was a bartender at the Waterfront (a Gilman Street type club on King Street), Lisa was a waitress in a fancy restaurant in the city centre. I on the other hand had probably the worst job of the lot. No matter how hard I tried to get the perfect job for me, I couldn't. So I was forced to work at Angels. The strip club on the sea front. By the time I got there on my little motorbike, I was covered in goose bumps. The sea front was 30 miles away from our flat and I had to go there four times a week. I also had a job at Purple Studios not far from our humble home. I worked with bands such as Kasabian and Ourselves. Laurence always gave me a lift to Angels on Fridays cos he works at the bar on that night. Laurence was my boss at Purple.

"When do we get our tickets?" Lisa screamed.

I had thought about this for a long time. "When we get the money, how long should I wait before I get the tickets?" The answer was simple.

"NOW!!" I screamed and we ran into our rooms. Well Lisa and Natalie did, I just jumped down off my bed and ran to my wardrobe.
It was 9am and the mail had arrived with our bank statements, when we opened them we almost died. Hehe, wouldn't that be funny. Been saving for four years and when you finally have enough, you die.
I opened my closet and grabbed what I thought would be suitable for the day. I grabbed my Nimrod t-shirt and my black jeans. I ran and threw them on my single and very uncomfortable bed, whilst I went through my socks and underwear drawer like a madwoman. I found a black bra and matching knickers. I don't wear thongs. It's like having cheese wire up your ass. But I did wear G-Strings for work. I had to. It was my uniform. I finally found my black and yellow striped socks, then looked under my bed for shoes. I found my black and yellow Converse my sister had got me for Christmas a few years ago and the funny thing was, they still fit me!

I already had a shower the night before and the hot water had run out anyway so I skipped the freezing shower and got dressed. I pulled on my shoes and waited in the lounge for Lisa and Nat.

When they walked in, I stood up. Lisa wore a Good Charlotte t-shirt and very much the same as me. Natalie wore a Warning t-shirt. She and I loved Green Day. Lisa did too, but she liked other bands more. We grabbed our bags and went out the door. I locked it and we made our way to the lift, to take us to the ground floor, seeing as we lived on the 4th. I pressed the button to call the elevator. When it opened, I was overwhelmed by the smell of stale urine. The hobos and prostitutes use the elevator as a toilet on their "shift" or rampage.

We ran to the bus stop and made it just in time to see the bus slowly making its way up the hill. I sighed. My wait was finally over. I had wanted to live in America since I was little, but I wanted to live in California when I turned eight. I wanted to be a movie star living in San Francisco. My friend who lived in the U.S had already got us a house. Her dad had owned it before he died. We just had to pay for food and other necessities. It was in Oakland. When we found this out, me and Natalie screamed. Oakland was where Green Day were situated. Our luck was high as we boarded the bus.

We had never felt so good. This was our turning point. We had been waiting a long time for this. And we didn't want to wake up!

Life was on the up for The Armatage Shanx girls at last.
