Armatage Shanx, chapter 3

*Oakland, California*

*Wednesday 25th June 2009*

"Billie Joe Armstrong get your ass outta bed and get some cereal!" Tre shouted over the coffee machine and Mike humming 'Rock the Casbah'.
Tre and Mike had been looking after Billie since Adrienne had left him a year ago. She loved him more than anything but, the strain of her husband touring had made her snap. Billie Joe had not come home sometimes for days and when he did come home, he was absoulutely trashed. Billie got out of bed and streched. What was the point in getting out of bed when there is no reason to? Billie thought as he pulled on a Clash shirt and a pair of black drainpipes. He went to the bathroom and looked at his face.

His newly died black hair stuck up in every direction, making him look like he had been stood in front of a fan for too long. His green eyes were surounded by black patches of eye-liner that were too stubborn to erase from his skin. All in all, he looked like a tired old man who had lost the love of his life. Because he was too thick to realise that family is more important than getting drunk to make yourself feel good. He turned on the faucet and let the cold water run. He cupped the ice cold liquid in his hands and threw it against his tired skin. He shivered and grabbed the towel bail for a soft, warm towel. He dried his face and exited the bathroom. He made his way down the stairs to meet the smell of freshly made coffee. He walked into the kitchen to see Mike sat at the table reading the newspaper and Tre also sat at the table, gorging on Fruit Loops.

"Save some for me man." Billie smiled at Tre, who just looked up and smirked a goofy grin.
Billie sat down and grabbed the clean empty bowl that was placed on the placemat. He filled it with cereal and added milk. He picked up his spoon and dug in. It sure was cool to have his best friends looking after him at a time he needed them. They were to the rescue. But its not like Adrienne had moved thousands of miles away. She still lived in Oakland with her friend. Joey and Jakob were staying there too.

"Hey guys, Do you mind if I go see the kids y'know? I sorta miss them. I only saw them three days ago but, Fuck I miss them." Billie said sadly. Standing up and putting his bowl in the sink.

"Man, You dont need to ask. Their your kids too. She cant stop you from seeing them." Mike said looking at his friend with the deepest sympathy.

"Yeah well. I have the feeling one day she might," With that Billie Joe stood up and went to put his shoes on. He grabbed his keys and made his way out of the front door. He opened the door to his Ford Fairlane and started it up.

He drove for 25 minutes before the car came to a hault. He turned off the engine and made his way to the front door. He knocked and a 15 year old Joey answered it.

"DAD!!" He shouted and jumped on his dad.

"Hey buddy. You alright? Wheres your brother and your mom? You sure your okay you look pale?" Billie fussed over his first born.

"Yeah dad, I'm fine, Moms in the kitchen and Jakes upstairs in the bathroom I think and Yes dad Im fine honestly." Joey smiled.
"Oh and dad. I mastered Basket Case last night. I was up till 3am playing. Mom went balistic. But hey I fucking mastered it."

"Hey dont swear your mother will kill me, and well done. Even the solo?" Billie asked, quite chuffed his kid was on his way to being like himself.

"Yep even the solo." Joey grinned and went into the kitchen to see Claire with a rather pissed off looking Adrienne.Joey walked away, realising now wasnt a good time to be in the visinity.
She looked towards Billie and frowned.

"What are you doing here?" She snarled. "You only saw them a few days ago."

"I know I did. I can see my kids if I want to. Their mine too." Billie replied. He was right. She was trying to get the kids away from him. She sighed.

"Fine. But take them out of the house this time. Urm... The park like you used to." She said with a little smile on her face.

"Joey is 15. Jake is 12, you really think they want to go to the park? What about I take them to my house for a little bit? They'll like that," Billie grinned.

"Alright then. I'll pick them up around 6. That ok?" Adrienne asked with a hint of sarcasam. Billie wondered why she was being like this. She was never like this.

"'Kay." Billie grunted then walked out of the kitchen to shout Jakob and Joseph. "Kids, Come on. Were gonna go rock on the guitar boys." He said in this funny voice which made Jakob chuckle from upstairs.

"Coming." the boys shouted in unison.

Billie Joe smiled and waited near the door for his kids. The came downstairs and Jakob put on his denim jacket, covered in pin badges. Joey put on his black Live Freaky! Die Freaky! Hoodie much to his mothers dispair, and followed his father and brother to the car.

When they had sat down and put on their seat belts (Billie Joe fussing over them, "You have to wear them, It's safety") Billie started up the car and took the journey back to his house in Oakland.

Life seemed so much better when he had his sons around him. If only he was with them all the time, He would be the happiest man alive.

Well, Nearly.
