Billie and Amanda, chapter 18

Amanda walked over to her closet.

"What should I wear?" she asked.
"Nothing... " Billie replied slyly.
"Perv," she shot back. Billie shrugged.
"And what are you planning on wearing?" she asked. Billie shrugged and looked down at himself.
"This," he said. Amanda raised her eyebrows.
"No way, you can't wear that, you'll look like a-a... hold on... " Amanda ran out of the room. She returned about 5 minutes later, holding a complete suit, tie and all.
"It was my brother's, it should fit you just about... " she said. Billie grabbed it and looked at in disgust.
"Do I have to?" he whined.
"Yes."

"Billie you look great," Amanda grinned. His hair was slicked back, he was wearing a complete suit, and dress shoes.

"No I don't," he grumbled," I'm not wearing this."
"Yes you are," Amanda said.
"No I'm not," he said slightly irritated.
"C'mon Billie, you look great," Amanda said.
"I'm not wearing it," he stated simply.
"Please?" she pleaded.
"AMANDA I'M NOT FUCKING WEARING THIS, I LOOK LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT ALRIGHT!" he found himself yelling.
"But-" Amanda stuttered.
"NO!" Billie yelled and marched out of the room slamming the door.

Amanda walked down the stairs fully dressed. She was wearing a black dress, black heels, hoop earrings, and her make-up fully done. She spotted Billie on the couch, asleep.

"Get up," she shook him awake. Just then, she noticed what he was wearing. He had spiked his hair up, took off his black jacket, untucked his shirt, and was wearing his black converse.

"Huh?" he jerked awake.
"We're leaving," she said coldly," Hurry up, I have to drive us over there."
Amanda looked him over again and shook her head in disappointment.

Ten minutes later

Billie walked out of the house. Amanda was leaning on the car, taking a smoke. Billie walked over to her.

"C'mon, you know I don't like it when you do that," he said softly. Amanda could tell he was sorry. She took a deep breath.

"See you changed," she said, throwing her cigarette out. Billie had changed back into his suit, but was still wearing his converse and his hair spiked up.

"Uh, yeah," he replied. Amanda turned around and walked into the car, Billie following her.

Most of the drive was spent in silence. Rain drops started pattering on the windows, as the street lights illuminated the street. Billie wanted to say something to Amanda, but every time he would open his mouth, he closed it and thought better of it. Amanda began to notice. It was quite annoying actually.

"Just say it," she said, keeping her eyes on the road.

"Huh?" Billie was caught off guard.

"Say what you've been trying to say for the past 20 minutes," she said.

"Oh-um, its, its just, you uh, you look really beautiful tonight, is all," Billie blurted out. Amanda knew that was not what he wanted to say at all, but he was stubborn. Billie Joe was not a good apologizer, and he knew that. Amanda knew that.

"Whatever," she breathed. Billie slouched a little and looked out the window. The days when apologizing used to be easy. Those days were long gone.

"My parents are gonna be a little late, so we'll just have to hang out for a while, but I'll warn you now, there's a lot of stuck up little preps so you'll probably get annoyed," she said.

"We." Billie said, still looking out the window.

"Huh?" Amanda asked.

"We'll both be annoyed. You said just me."

"Oh, yeah, I guess."

Outside it was dark and the rain was falling lightly. Amanda had not even noticed but Aerosmith's-I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing started playing on the radio.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

"Amanda-I," Billie began.

"Huh?" she asked. Billie opened his mouth to talk but closed it.

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Lying close to you feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Cause I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing

The song died down to an end and Amanda pulled into a parking lot in front of a huge building, with people walking into it. It was crowded. Billie and Amanda got out of the car.

"Anything you wanna say?" she asked.

Billie just grunted.
