Billie and Amanda, chapter 3

Billie pulled up to a deserted parking lot. He had never seen it this empty before. It was about 1 in the morning... but still. They got out of his car into the cold, dark night. Slowly, they both walked over, though the big doors under the sign "Rudy's Can't Fail Café". Together they walked to a counter were a half asleep waiter stood reading a copy of the LA Times.

"The usual Billie?" he asked, sleepily.
"Yeah, sure," Billie said.
"And for you, ma'am?" he asked.
"Um, just a Cappuccino," Amanda told him. She was beginning to feel drowsy and needed something to wake her up.
"Here I got this," Billie said, pulling out a twenty dollar bill.
"You don't have to-" Amanda began but Billie cut her off.
"Please, allow me," Billie said, putting his hand up.

Billie and Amanda walked over to a table in the corner. Billie ran in front of her and pulled her chair out for her.
"Thank you," she said with a smile.
"No problem," Billie was grinning happily as he took his seat. They sat there for a while, nervously staring at the ceiling and the walls.
"So ," Billie said," you go to school?"
"Um yeah, I do," Amanda said," You?"
Billie blushed. He was afraid she wouldn't like him if he told her this. He went for it anyway, he had already lied about Green Day, well, not really, he was planning on telling her.
"I, well, I-I dropped out," he blurted. She was just looking at him and nodding her head.
"Why?" she asked.
"Why what?" Billie asked.
"Why'd you drop out?" she said.
"Oh, duh," Billie felt stupid now.
"Um, I well, wanted to devote all my time to my band, and school was just a waste of time for me, because, well, to tell you truth, I'm not the brightest kid ever, and they were gonna kick me out anyway, so... " he trailed off, feeling stupid.
"Oh, well that's cool then," Amanda said.
"What?" Billie asked.
"You dropping out to be with your band, I don't know many people that would do that," Amanda said. Billie felt proud and smiled widely.
"What band did you say you were-," she began to say, but was cut off by the waiter.
"Your coffees," he said placing them down on the table. Thank God, Billie thought, he was beginning to panic. He knew the question about Green Day was coming but he wasn't ready to tell her-not yet, anyway.
"Do you wanna go sit outside?" Billie asked quickly, changing the subject.
"Ya, sure," she replied with a smile.

They put their coffees on a table outside. They then stood outside for a minute staring at the night sky. Billie's attention, however, was on Amanda. Fuck, she looked even hotter in the moonlight. Amanda finally noticed him staring at her and looked over at him smiling. Billie snapped out of it.

"God, I haven't done this for, who knows how long," Amanda said.
"Done what?" Billie asked. She turned and they were looking into each others eyes. Amanda just stared into his eyes. She could get lost in them. She finally looked back up and said, " Just looking at the stars at night, its so beautiful."
"Yea, you are," Billie whispered. Had he said that out loud? He didn't care anymore, she was so beautiful, and he couldn't bottle his emotions any longer.
She had heard and looked over, took a step towards Billie and hugged him.
"That's so sweet," she whispered to him. She had only known him for a few hours, but it seemed longer-like her whole life. Anyway he seemed so familiar somehow. Billie noticed she was shaking. She was only wearing a t-shirt and it could get pretty cold at night. Billie took off his sweatshirt and wrapped it around her. She gratefully looked up again and they were once again lost in each others eyes. After about a minute, Billie quietly said," I-um, well would it be okay if I-uh, uh kissed you?" He didn't want to rush her, or scare her.
"Ok by me," she said back. Billie leaned in a little and Amanda leaned in the rest of the way and it was magical. With each second the kiss became deeper and more passionate. Then as if out of nowhere the waiter appeared again, ruining the moment.
"Oh sorry-I didn't know," he began.
" Um, anyways," he stuttered, embarrassed ,"just to tell you I'm closing up," the waiter finished and walked away.
Billie and Amanda both blushed and looked at the floor. Finally Billie broke the silence.
" Come on, I'll drive you home," he told Amanda, scooping her off her feet, and carrying her to his car, leaving the coffees untouched.

The freeway had cleared up and Billie drove Amanda home. She had fallen asleep with a smile on her face. God, she looked so cute like that. Billie pulled up in front of her house. He didn't want to wake her up, he just wanted to let her sleep like that, but he knew he couldn't. He leaned over, put his hand on her cheek, and kissed her softly.

"Wake up, you're home," Billie said. Amanda opened her eyes. Billie smiled at her. She grinned back. Billie got out of the car and opened the door for her.
"Thanks, Billie, you're so sweet," she told him. Billie just blushed. They walked over to her house.
"When will I see you again?" Amanda asked him.
"Oh, you'll see me around, don't worry, maybe even this weekend," Billie smile mysteriously.
"Ok if you say so," Amanda raised her eyebrows. Billie pulled her into a tight hug and she gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Bye," Amanda whispered, watching his car pull out in the distance. She watched it until she couldn't see it any further. Then she opened the door, walked in the house, and plopped down on the couch. That had definitely been one of the most magical nights of her life. She wanted to see Billie again. Wait, she thought, I'm going to a Green Day concert this weekend, and Billie said he would see me. Could it be? Could it really be Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day I had kissed? She fell asleep that night to her 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours CD
