Billie and Amanda, chapter 9

RRRRIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!

"Shit. Damn alarm clock," Amanda cussed, throwing the alarm clock to the floor. She thought back to last night, she was heartbroken. The tears started coming again.

"No, I won't cry, not for fucking Billie Joe Armstrong," she said to herself," ah, shit, that's bastard's coming over here to "explain" everything," she remembered.

Amanda got off the couch, and walked into the bathroom. She took a shower and did all that other crap you do when you wake up and walked downstairs, to make breakfast. She pulled the pancake mix out of the cabinet and began making pancakes.

I guess Kaely and Mike are the only ones that really care about me, she thought. God, Mike is so sweet and nice and I can't even began to thank him for telling me about all this. She took the pancakes she made off the stove, poured herself some orange juice, grabbed the maple syrup, and went to sit down in front of the T.V., to eat.

As she was eating, she remembered, her family was coming home in one week. Next Sunday. Great, she thought. She wasn't exactly thrilled about her family coming home, like she needed anymore hassle than she already had. She loved her family and everything, but sometimes, they could be annoying. Her older brother, Eric, who was 21, only cared about being buff and impressing the ladies. Her older sister, Karen, was 19, and Amanda didn't see much of her anyway. She was constantly going out with her friends and partying. Then came Amanda. The "middle" child. After her was Alex, who was 14. Amanda could freely say that she was the one cool person in her family. They told each other everything. Alex also liked the music Amanda listened to and dressed punk, unlike the rest of the family. Lastly, there was Cassie. She was the last child Amanda's mom had had. But she was gone now. Her parents were your average embarrassing parents who hated the way her daughters dressed, except for Karen. They were extremely proud of Eric being the sports jock he was.

Amanda got up and walked over to the sink and put her plate in. Just then the phone rang. She picked it up. It was Kaely.

"Hey," Kaely said softly.
"What's up?" Amanda said. Kaely sighed.
"Look, I'm not gonna waste any time, but Billie was just over here, and he's coming to your place-right now!" Kaely said.
"Oh, cool," Amanda said, pretending not to know.
"Ok, look, I know you know, alright, Mike told me, but Billie doesn't know that, so-" Kaely was interrupted by Amanda.
"You know something, it's funny, Billie's the one who has a secret to tell, but everyone already knows. Everyone except-him," Amanda said sadly. It was silent for a while.
"I'm sorry, are you gonna be alright, do you want me to come over there, I'll beat the shit outta him for you if you want," Kaely said innocently.
"No, that's cool," Amanda forced a laugh. Just then, the doorbell rang.
"Shit, I better go, I think he's here," Amanda said, a little scared of what she would be facing.
"OK, well, good luck, call me if you need me," Kaely told her.
"Thanks, bye."
"Bye."

Amanda put down the phone and walked over to the door. She took a deep breath and opened it. I think you can guess who it was.

"Hey," Billie said.
"Hi," Amanda said, a bit sternly. Billie noticed and looked up, a little alarmed. Ok, pull yourself together, Amanda thought to herself. He can't know that I know.

Amanda took a step back.

"Why don't come in?" Amanda forced a smile.
"Yeah, I think I should," Billie replied, walking in. Amanda could see he was nervous.

Amanda sat down on her couch and Billie sat down on the opposite side.

"So, how was the show?" Amanda asked, breaking the silence.
"Huh?" Billie replied, confused. Amanda could tell he was extremely nervous. He was sweating. He wiped his sweaty hands on his pants.
"Oh, the show, it was cool," Billie said, but Amanda could tell that his attention was not on her question, but on how he was gonna tell her. Good, let him suffer, she thought.
"Look um-uh, I," Billie stuttered," this is hard to say but, uh ,I-" Amanda sat there watching him, but couldn't take it any longer.
"Billie I know alright, Mike came over and told me last night-about Rachael," Amanda said. Billie looked up in awe.
"Ah, I'll kill that son of a bitch, I was supposed to tell you-" Billie said.
"No, I think it's better that Mike told me, I was ready to strangle you," Amanda said madly. Billie laughed but then looked up to see that she was serious. The smile faded off his face. Amanda looked at him and began crying.
"Oh come'on, don't cry, don't cry babe-" Billie began but was interrupted.
"Don't you dare call me babe!" Amanda practically screamed. She took a deep breath and continued.
"I'm not crying for you, I'm crying for myself. I'm crying because I was too stupid to see what a liar you were from the beginning. I can't believe I fell for you!" Tears were streaming down her face now. Amanda walked over to the counter were she had put the rose Billie had given. God, that seemed like ages ago.
"Here, you should probably leave now," Amanda said sternly, dropping the rose on his lap. She couldn't look at him any longer, she turned and ran all the way upstairs into her room. She collapsed on her bed. Amanda saw her guitar case and opened it to reveal her guitar. But there was something else there too. A silver guitar pick on a chain. She looked closely and saw it was engraved to say:

I'll Love You Always
-BJ

Amanda dropped the chain and took her guitar and strummed a few chords. Just then Billie appeared in the doorway.

"Go away, Billie Joe," Amanda said, harshly. She looked at him. He looked sad.
"Look, Amanda I want to be friends. Can we still be friends?" Billie asked her. Amanda picked up the chain and walked toward Billie.
"Fuck off Billie," she said. She took his hand, opened it and pressed the necklace inside his hand. She pushed Billie out the door, and she closed and locked it. She leaned against the door and slid down all the way, sobbing.

She thought that Billie had left, but he hadn't. She looked down and saw a note begin slipped under the door. She waited for a moment, but curiosity got the better of her, and she opened the note.

We need to talk. I'll see you tonight at dinner. I want you
to meet Rachael. I think you guys can be friends.
-BJ

Shit, the dinner. She really didn't feel like facing Billie again, but she had promised Mike. Life sucks sometimes.
