A Different Kind Of Love, chapter 5
Vik went home, and I went back to my bedroom to vent. How the hell could he say something like that? Maybe there was something wrong with me. Why couldn't I have just been straight like everyone else. Then I would never have to deal with this. I was sitting there, blaring music, thinking of what I could do to fix this. In the end, I believed that there were only three options. The first, of course, being suicide. But I didn't want to die. The next was running away from home, but where would I go? I decided to go with the third option: break up with Vik and never show my face again. So I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper.
Dear Vik,
I know we've been through a lot together, but I think we need to break up. There's just too much in my life right now for me to handle.
I still love you.

I put the note in his locker the next morning, and I knew he would get his binder for third period, but he wouldn't open his locker until then. So I just avoided him until then. Third period was our Science class, and I figured I'd just skip that class. I don't know what I was thinking, actually. But by the time third period rolled around I didn't go to class, I went to sit under the stairs from the basement to the main floor of our school. It was where Vik and I sometimes went to spend time alone together. I sat there for a while, listening to my iPod, and I never even heard anyone come down the stairs. But there HE was.
"How'd you find me?" I asked.
Vik pulled the note out of his pocket and unfolded it. "You really.. don't want to.. be together anymore?" he asked. I could see that his eyes were filling up with tears.
"I still love you.. I'll always love you."
"That's not what I asked you. Do YOU want to break up with me, or do you think it's what your dad wants?"
"It's not like that, Vik." I replied, but I knew that was a lie. I was doing this because I thought my dad wouldn't accept me otherwise. Vik turned away and went back to class.
*One Week Later*
It had been a week now since Vik and I broke up. I missed him so much now. I felt totally alone, like there was no one to hold on to. Then one day Jess was talking to me in English, like we always do. And then she said it, and my heart leapt with happiness.
"So, Vik told me to tell you, he wants to talk to you after school. What's up with you guys?"
"Nothing." I replied. I couldn't help but smile at the thought that I'd be talking to him again.
After school, I went to find Vik. He was off with a new group of people, and what made me especially jealous were the two girls who I didn't know, one grade below us, talking to him. I knew Vik was bi, so he could still be interested in them, and I didn't want him to be. I approached them nervously.
"Vik.. uh, Jess said you wanted to, uh.."
"Yeah. Hang on." He pointed around the group and introduced me to everyone. Janessa, or Ness, was a pale girl with shoulder length black hair. She wore a lot of eyeliner, a short tight black skirt, fishnets, and a long sleeved black shirt. Her brother Tegan wore black Converse, jeans, and a black Taking Back Sunday tee, and Sara, Tegan's girlfriend, had long wavy brown hair and wore black pants, pink Converse, and a black hoodie. Tegan was in our grade, but he didn't have any classes with me so I never really bothered talking to him. Then Vik took me aside and we talked.
"Josh.. I really need to tell you this. I love you. I've loved you since our first kiss. I want to be with you, Josh."
"I want to be with you too. I'm sorry, Vik. You were right, what you said before. I guess.. I guess I was just scared. I still am."
Vik kissed me. We went back to Ness, Sara, and Tegan.
"So, Josh, I'm not sure if Vik has told you or not, but we've started a band and we need a bass player... Ness, Vik, and I, I mean." Tegan said.
This was going to be a great day.
