Chronicles of Jimmy Of Suburbia, chapter 2
"Hi, I'm Lucy." she replied almost uninterestedly.
Jimmy shifted awkwardly in his seat. "Er... Those preps, I hate them don't you? My sister goes off with them every morning. I don't see the point..." he stopped, sensing there was no point in carrying on the conversation, they spent the rest of the journey in silence.
As the bus slowed to halt Jimmy reached for his bag and got up. He had hated that journey. She was obviously uninterested in being his friend he thought to himself.
He exited the bus and slowly began to walk through some entrance gates.
The school was quite big he thought, it had an area to go to at break and lunch. It seemed alright. He thought.
"What are you doing here? You don't belong here loser! Go back to your coffin!" A girl with curly brown hair shouted at him.
He walked along in silence. He was beginning to change his mind about this place being okay. Okay... Where was he supposed to go? The principles office? He glanced at the dull brown scratched doors he was slowly walking past. Would it be obvious which one was his? Or maybe it was a girl? He didn't really care.
"Are you Jimmy Jones?" A blonde haired woman had just stepped out of a room.
"Er... Yeah." he answered blushing. The woman was bout as tall as he was, maybe a little bit taller.
"Come with me. You're supposed to be in my lesson first period but I think the principle wants to talk to you first. Are you okay?"
Damn. She'd noticed him staring. " Er... Yeah I'm great. Just a bit... Confused that's all."
She smiled sympathetically. She had a nice smile he thought.
They walked down to the corridor an office that looked slightly less of an eye sore than anything else Jimmy had seen so far of this school... Well apart from the woman now tapping the door that is.
"Come in" said a slightly less manly voice than Jimmy had imagined.
But it was enough to stir Jimmy from his thoughts though. He walked cautiously forwards. He didn't like meeting principles.
Stepping slowly inside the office, he looked around. It was quite a light room, with cream walls, a lamp in the corner glowing blue, green and red and a mahogany desk and two soft chairs in front of it. Sitting on a third chair behind the desk was a rather large woman, with short brown hair, dark, round glasses and a rather cat like manner to her.
"Hello, you must be Jimmy," she said happily. "I'm Mrs Bell. I trust you have already met your new geography, Miss Smith?"
He looked at the floor embarrassed. "Yeah, she's... Nice."
She smiled even more. She looked like a demon cat.
"Well I only wanted to say welcome to your school and we hope you enjoy yourself here" she said. "You can go now!" she exclaimed happily.
"Erm.. Okay." he said nervously. She scared him.
He left the room and was greeted by the blonde woman.
"Hello. How did it go?" she asked
"Er... Great" he lied. He couldn't be asked to go through the whole encounter with the principle.
"Okay." He could tell she knew he was lying. "Well I'm Miss Smith by the way. Sorry I forgot to tell you."
He smiled. "I know."
She looked at him confused.
Grinning he explained, "Mrs Bell told me"
"Oh," She said embarrassed at her blondeness. Laughing Jimmy followed her to her class room.
Silence was all that greeted them when they entered.
"Good Morning everyone. We have a new student. This is Jimmy."
The class looked up. When they saw Jimmy's face and clothes they looked back down. The brown haired girl he had seen earlier sniggered, so did a group of girls that surrounded her.
Miss Smith glared at them. "You can sit next to Claire Flett at the back." she said still glaring at them. The brown haired girl glared at Jimmy and he guessed that must be Claire. He walked up and she glared harder. As he slowly sat down he was getting the feeling this girl hated him. The second he was seated he had forgotten just minutes before when he and Miss Smith had been laughing at her dumbness.
He was beginning to dislike this school.
"Hi Jimmy"
Wait... That voice was familiar.
He turned and he saw...
