They pulled into Billie's drive not ten minutes later and jumped out. "Guys, I really don't like where this seems to be headed. I'm going to drive over to Anistasia's and make sure she and Estella are okay," Mike said as he looked from one man to the next. Billie nodded saying,
"Call us if there's any trouble." The bassist gave a nod before getting into his car and pulling out of the driveway.
The other three turned and made their way up the walk to the front door. There was no sign of forced entry. Billie opened the door, carefully stepping over the threshold. Tré and Jason followed closely behind him. There where very few lights on inside and the snap of the lock as the door closed ecoed eerily. It was too quiet.
"
Adrienne?" Billie called as he took a few cautious steps forward, looking around.
There was no answer. The front man swallowed hard before calling again, getting more worried with each second.
"Adie, where are you?"
His wife came walking in from the kitchen at that moment drying her hands on a dishtowel.
"What's the matter, Bill, has something ha... " She stopped mid-sentence when she caught sight of Tré. He still had a nice sized lump on his forehead from the crowbar and a little bit of bruising around one of his eyes from being punched at one point or another.
"My God! Tré, what happened!?" She insisted that he sit down and went to grab a bag of ice.
"Where are Joey and Jakob?" Billie asked as Adrienne returned from the kitchen, handing a bag of ice to Tré. She gave her husband a questioning look.
"They were both playing in Joey's room last I checked. Why are you so worried?"
"I think we should keep them with us at all times for awhile," he stated simply and headed down the hall towards the boys rooms.
Adie was looking a bit scared by now. "Will someone please tell me what is going on here?"
"We found Tré bound and gagged in the hall closet when we got to his house today," Jason blurted, trying to be helpful. Adie let out a small gasp and Tré shot Jason a hard look, shaking his head.
"Way to break it to her, Jason. Why don't you let me talk now, okay? Just have a seat and take some deep breaths."
Jason nodded, sinking down onto a chair and swallowing hard. This whole ordeal had unnerved him a hell of a lot more then he'd let on.
"Adrienne, you might want to sit down too," said Tré. She nodded and sat, shaking. Tré took a deep breath to steady his own nerves before launching into a recap of the prior night's events.
He told her about answering the door only to have a group of complete strangers force their way into his hous. He discribed the scuffle all the way up to when he was knocked unconscious and he finished by showing her the note that had been found that morning. Adrienne looked at the drummer with a mixture if sadness and shock as he sat with his head hung.
"Tré, I'm so sorry... that's just awful... " There was silence for a few moments and Tré lifted his head up staring off into space with a far off expression on his face. "So why did you come over here?"
He snapped back to reality as Adrienne spoke, blinking a couple times and taking a deep breath. He sighed heavily before answering her.
"The riddle at the bottom of the note made it sound as if these creeps weren't just planning on taking Ramona and Frankito... "
Adrienne's face clouded with worry as she comprehended just what he meant. They where sitting ducks here, so the three had come to try to keep the kidnapperes from getting away twice.
Billie came back into the living room with Joey and Jakob at that moment and the two looked around at everyone before they went to play on the floor. Billie sat down with a sigh. Relative quiet settled for a few minutes as the group sat around the livingroom, each immersed in their own thoughts. The slience was soon broken though when Billie's cell phone started ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket and flipped it open.
"Hullo... oh hey Mike are Annie and Stella alright?... They're out of town for the next few weeks? That's probably for the better... yeah... ok we'll see you in a few minutes then."
He clicked his phone off, shoving it back in his pocket with yet another sigh. "Anastasia and Estella are on vacation down in Georgia, so at least Estella is out of harm's way." Tré nodded his consent as he watched Joey and Jakob on the floor. He then leaned over so he could talk to Billie without them hearing.
"That note makes it sound like those guts are coming back around tonight. Billie, I don't want Joey and Jakob disappearing too. I want to help make sure they stay safe."
Billie nodded. "We'll have a better chance of chasing these guys off as a group anyway." A few seconds later there came a series of panicked knocks at the door.
The adults all tensed up a bit and Billie got up, peering through the curtains of the front window to see out on the doorstep before unlocking the door. Mike stood out on the front step and mouthed "Let me in QUICK!" when he saw Billie at the window. The front man fumbled with the locks and quickly swung the door open, allowing the bassist to srable in before shutting it again.
"Mike, what's going on?" Billie asked the man looked as if he'd just barely escaped a pack of rabid dogs.
"Billie, those five guys that took Frankie and Ramona where tailing me the whole way here! I think I lost them about three blocks up but I'm not sure. We gotta do something QUICK!"
