Cut Up Angels, chapter 2
I ended up getting off the phone and falling asleep at 12.
The phone in my room rang the next morning at 10, waking me up.
"Hello?" I answered sleepily.
"Hey little sis!" came Jack's voice.
"Since when d'you wake up before midday?" I asked sarcastically.
Jack sighed. "D'you want to come the skate park or not?"
"Ye!" I exclaimed, anything to get out of this hell hole of a hotel.
"I'll be outside your room in 10 minutes," Jack warned me then put the phone down.
I sprang out of bed suddenly wide awake and pulled some black jeans on adding a t-shirt I'd designed myself. It has a gothic cartoon angel on the front.
Jack knocked on my door just as I was tying the laces of my converses.
I grabbed my plain black hoodie, my skateboard and a bobble for my hair then joined my brother in the corridor.
We both ran down the stairs then jogged towards the main entrance.
"Where do you think you're going?" came dad's voice.
"We're going the skate park," Jack answered showing dad the skateboard he was holding in his right hand.
"No your not, do you realize what type of people go down to that skate park?" Dad asked sounding like a snob.
"People like your own children!" Jack said through gritted teeth. Most of mine and Jack's best friends were skaters that we had met in the park by where we used to live.
"We just wanna make some new friends," I said cutting in so Jack wouldn't get into trouble on our first actual day in our fathers hotel.
"Oh, ok then," dad replied, I could tell he still wasn't happy with us going.
"Thanks for that," Jack smiled as we made our way to the park.
"It's ok, you're my brother, I wasn't gunna stand there and let you get in trouble was I!" I smiled back as we opened the gate and stepped into the skate park.
Jack went straight over to the ramps to talk to the skaters already there whereas I, being the shy one, went and sat on one of the benches. I tried to finish my sketch of the porter so I could email Chase to show him what he looked like but I was interrupted by the gate creaking open. I looked up to see who it was and saw him; the porter.
"Hey," Came a female voice, I'd tried to busy myself with a different sketch so I didn't spend all of my time staring at the porter (I really needed to know his name). "Whatcha drawing?"
I looked up and saw a girl of about 5'1, she had the most striking green eyes decorated with eyeliner and mascara and black/brown hair. "Er, I'm just doodling really," I smiled.
"I'm Casey by the way," the girl said sitting down next to me.
"I'm Raven."
"Wow you're such a good artist!" Casey exclaimed looking over my shoulder at the drawing of an angel (they're my speciality).
"Thanks, do you skate?" I asked trying to get the attention away from myself.
"Nah I just hang round here really, all of my mates are skaters. Do you?"
"Ye, well, sorta," I replied.
"So you're new around here aren't ya?" Casey stated.
"Ye I moved in with my dad yesterday because my mum had died," I answered quietly.
"I'm sorry," Casey said equally as quiet.
"It's ok. So d'you go to school here?" I asked swiftly changing the subject once again, glad I had found a friend I could talk to.
"You ready for school tomorrow?" Jack smirked. We'd got home to find that dad had been out and bought me all the stuff I needed.
"You know I'm not," I replied rolling my eyes. I haven't bee to school since mum... Well you get the message.
"You'll be fine," Jack winked "Cya in the morning then!" he smiled kissing me on the cheek.
"Whatever," I sighed going into my own room. It was ok for him to say; he didn't have to go. .
