Morals Are For Idealistic Dreams And Hopes...not The Real World., chapter 1

Serenity Rivers was not your normal teen. Her head was shaved--she was actually rather surprised someone hadn't tried to beat her up yet. Her shoes never matched, though they were always Converse, and her style too... out there to be labeled.

She sat outside her high school during lunch hour, staring down at the salad she bought from the lunch line while picking out the meat chunks, disgusted.

"Bloody idiots think we're all carnivores," she muttered under her breath. She looked up as she saw a shadow of someone sitting down beside her. A guy of about seventeen, slender, with bright green eyes was watching her pick the meat out of her salad. She raised an eyebrow at him, but still smiled. She felt her face go hot when he smiled back.

"Er, I'm Serenity. You?" she asked him, after finishing with the meat, as she poured dressing over the hodge-podge of vegetables. She looked over at him again after she stirred the salad sufficiently.

He laughed slightly. "I'm Billie Joe. I couldn't help but notice your hair...or rather, lack of it. I thought it was really brave." He started fidgeting...as if he was shy to be talking to her! Serenity found this rather silly, she was shy enough to talk to him! She laughed.

"It doesn't take too much bravery. It takes indifference, doll," she smiled. "It doesn't exactly work if you care about what everyone else thinks..." She looked at Billie's hair. Bleached and seemingly unkempt. She thought it suited him well. He smiled at her again.

"I suppose... 'm not the expert on hair but whatever," he laughed. Serenity laughed too .Glancing at the chunks of meat on my tray, he added, "You're a veggie too, huh?"

"Yep. Murdering animals isn't quite my thing," she laughed. "Can't seem to live without leather though. The only belts that last for me are leather...pity, isn't it?" Billie shrugged.

"I wear it too, I'm not the greatest with morals though," he laughed again. Serenity wished he would keep laughing forever.. She loved his laugh. She chuckled a bit.

"Who is, doll? Who is?"
