Cool By Name, Not So Much By Association..., chapter 6

I didn't have a clue where I was supposed to be next so I went to my locker and looked at my schedule. My History class was over in like five minutes so I went to the bathroom to try and clean myself up. There were a few teenie boppers at the mirrors. They gave me dirty looks and went out giggling and pointing at my green self. I scrubbed at my face and finally got the green tinge off. My shoulder length brown hair was a different matter though. It had flecks of green everywhere! I shrugged, deciding it was somethin new. I reapplied a thin layer of eyeliner just as the bell rang. I went out to the mass filled halls and fallowed the drift until it finally stopped at the Cafeteria. Molly and Avi were standing at the end of the lunch que. I ran up to them.
"Hey!" I called. They both smiled.
"I heard what happened in science." Molly said picking up a few strands of my hair.
"Yip.. Of course this stuff would happen to me!" I laughed.
Just then I felt a pair of hands wrap around my waist.
"You're lucky none of that green shit stained my blazer, Ms. Cool" Brendon said, whispering the Ms. Cool bit.
I turned to look at him. He pulled away, grinning and began to fix his hair.
"You're not normal are you?" I asked but he just ignored me by putting a hand up to me. Then he started brushing down his jacket and picking hairs off it. I looked to Avi and Molly for support.
"Let's just say that Brendon likes to play for both teams." Avi explained and I nodded.
"That would explain a lot..." I said
"Yes, I like a bit of everything!" He laughed. We got our food and sat down. I got chocolate pudding and robbed some sweets off Molly.
About five minutes later I saw Joey walk in with Matt. He still looked pissed at me.
"I'll be back in a mo." I went over to where he was glaring at me. Mat smiled once he saw Molly and practically ran over to the seat.
"What crawled up your ass and died?" I asked a sour faced Joey.
"You got my Mom pissed at me, then my Dad was in a bad mood over You and now I have to spend the whole weekend at the studio over You." he explained, emphasizing each 'you'. I rolled my eyes.
"I create chaos, I don't think of the reprocautions... So get over it and come sit with us, ok?" He gave me and dirty look and sighed.
"Are you going to be exactly like your Dad?"
I nodded and smiled a evil grin.
"Bet you regret Green Day now don't ya?" I joked. I grabbed the sleeve of his jumper and dragged him to the table we had nabbed.
"Hey guys, this is Joey... Joey these peeps are Molly, Brendon and Avi." I sat down. Joey hastily nodded at everyone, acknowledging them and sat across the table form me. Brendon looked from me to Joey and back again, clogs whirring in his head. I could see a flashbulb spark in his eyes. He winked at me and smiled knowingly. Nothing passed by this kid, without him knowing it! We spent Luch chatting about nothing.
"So, what do you have next?" Molly asked. I took my schedule out of my bag to check.
"Eummmm... Double P. E." I said putting it back into my bag. I didn't have any gear... Awww well... P. E. Wasn't my thing anyway.
"Me too! Let's go... Do you have gear?" Molly said standing up.
"No.. Sorry!" I apologized.
"Awww that's ok..." She smiled.
I noticed that Matt had been watching her, every time she moved... Stalker much?
We said our goodbyes to the rest as they all split for different classes.
Molly and I walked to the Gym, she was blabbering on about Matt.
"So.. What do you know about him?" she enquired.
"Emmmm... Not much really... He doesn't like to talk... Oh! And he's Joey's friend.." I said.
She looked confused.
"Is that all?"
"Yip... Sorry... I can dig up more dirt if you want?"
She nodded and seemed happy.
"I meant to ask you, what's the deal with you and Joey? Are you going out?" she asked.
I nearly started skitting laughing in her face... But I restrained.
"DEFINITELY not! He's just my friend... Kinda... He's my Dad's friend's son... And the only person I knew out here before today." I explained and she nodded.
"I was just wondering because he kept looking at you throughout lunch."
"In a angry way?" I asked.
"Nope... A nice way.." she left me musing with that before going into the changing room. Joey was looking at me in a nice way? God! I was losing my mind...

I went straight into the Gym and gave the teacher my excuse. I sat on a bench, doodling on a piece of paper... Hehehe doodling is a funny word...
About five minutes into class Zach strolled through the door.
"Mr. Smith! I glad you cared to join us!" The teacher said sarcastically.
"Sorry sir, had a meeting with Mr. O'Brien." He explained.
"That's fine. Just go get your gear on."
"Don't have it." Zach said smiling over at me.
"You're pushing your luck, son!" the teacher fumed. "Go sit with Ms. Wright." he said pointing at me. Zach wandered over and sat down. I always found it funny when people called me Ms... No way was I a Miss! Zach was thinking the same thing, kinda.
"I hate they way they call you 'son' and 'lad' " Zach fumed. "It's like really! Did I come out of YOUR wife's vagina? No I thought not!" he said angrily. I started laughing at him and his frown turned into a smile.
"Well at least I get to know you better anyway." he said smoothly. I gave him a 'as if' look but the cheesy look on his face just made me laugh.
"What do you want to know?" I asked, leaning against the wall.
"Eummm Family."
"My Dad lives here, my Mom moved me and her to New York after they split up. I have a step-brother called Frank. You?"
"Just me, Avi and Mom and Dad.. Your boring regular family." he sighed "Top 5 albums."
"Oh! That's hard!" I thought for a minute. "Kerplunk by Green Day. Fever to Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Rocket to Russia by The Ramones. London Calling by The Clash and A Fever You Can't Sweat Out by Panic! At The Disco." I finished. He looked impressed.
"Mine are Nimrod and Warning by Green Day. Is This It? By The Strokes. Combat Rock by The Clash. And The Ramones by The Ramones." he finished.
"You like Green Day so?" I enquired, curiously.
"Ehhh! Ya. They're like my idols!" He said, excitedly.
"Ok, last question... What is the deal with the t-shirt?" He asked pointing to my Kooks tee.
"Oh... That. My step-Dad bought in a attempt to 'connect' with me. I wear it for the laugh!" I explained. He laughed and nodded.
The P. E. Teacher called me over.
"Ramona you're wanted at the office. And Mr. Smith! You can clean the Equipment closet!" Zach sighed and I grabbed my bag and waved bye to him.
I made my way to the office where my Dad was standing wearing a Green Day Hoodie and sunglasses. He really was ze master of disguise.
"I've come to break you out!" he whispered in my ear in a cheesy french accent and darted his eyes around the room.
Mr O'Brien came out and shook my Dad's hand.
"I hope your aunt is feeling better tomorrow Mr... Ehhh Cool."
An obvious cover-up. I looked sidewards at my Dad and he grinned.
"Thank you. I'll send on your wishes. Come on Ramona!" he said, grabbing my hand and running out of the place.
"I like the green. Very Woodstock!" he laughed.
"Science experiment, gone wrong." I explained. He nodded in approval. Like he was proud I was causing chaos.

"Where are we headed so?" I said getting into the car.
"The studio, thought you might go mad if I kept you in there any longer. We can get some coffee on the way. Just don't tell your Mom that I took you out."
My Dad is fucking awesome!
We sat in the car a little later, Dad with a Orange Mocha frappuccino and me with a Caramel Latté.
"You know what I was thinking today?" my Dad said in between sips. My Dad + Thinking = Very bad things.
"What?" I asked wearily.
"If you and Joey got together and had babies they'd be Super Intelligent Super Green Day babies and could rid the world of George Bush!" he finished, very proud of himself.
"Keep dreaming, Dad." I sighed, patting his head.
"But I want Super Intelligent Super Green Day babies!" He sulked.
Everything in the Universe wanted me and Joey together, but I kind of liked someone else...
