Too Much Too Soon, chapter 4
Billie Joe reached the top of the stairs, and walked down the hall to the door Kylie had just painted black last week. He knocked on the already open door.
"How's the guitar playin coming?" he asked.
"Alright I guess, it's just I can't get my hands to do the right thing, you know what I mean?" she replied.
"You want some help?" Billie Joe asked.
Kylie nodded, and scooted over on her bed, so Billie Joe could sit down.
"Now, look," he began, and sat behind her, so he could hold her hands properly,"you've got to put this hand here, and then put this one this way, and move your fingers like this." he said.
"Ohh..I gotcha." she said, realizing what the problem was.
"Like this right?" she asked, and strummed a few chords(sp?).
Billie Joe nodded. "Exactly." he said, "Except just move this hand a little bit--"
"Hey you guys, whats-" Tre stopped.
Billie Joe and Kylie both looked up, mouths wide open, starring at Tre.
"Uh, uh..*clears throat* I was just helping Kylie with her guitar." Billie Joe explained, whilst getting off of Kylie's bed.
Tre looked at Kylie. She nodded.
"Umm..Kylie," Tre began, looking for an excuse to get Kylie out of the room so he could talk to Billie Joe," Lily and Maddie are downstairs, they said they wanted to talk to you."
"Alright." Kylie said, and walked out of the door. Billie Joe listened to the 'thump thump' of her feet as she ran down the stairs.
"So." Tre said.
"So." Billie Joe replied.
"What was that?" Tre asked.
"What was what?" Billie Joe asked.
"What I just saw!" Tre exclaimed.
"What you saw, was me trying to help Kylie play her new guitar." Billie Joe answered.
"Oh sure," Tre began, "That was your excuse to hold Lauren's hand, remember Billie?"
Shit, Billie Joe thought, I forgot he knew about that.
"Well," Billie thought fast, and came up with something that was acutally true, "She asked me to help her!"
"Oh yeah, I'm sure she did." Tre said, and began walking down the hall.
"Dammit, Dammit...DAMMIT." Billie Joe yelled, and kicked the blue bean bag chair in the corner, and fell down in result.
He began laughing at himself, and pulled himself back up, and went downstairs, to find Tre, Mike, and Kylie all smoking.
"Where'd Maddie and Lily go?" Billie Joe asked.
"Home. Curfews." she answered, not coughing this time.
"Pass me one." Billie Joe demanded, and was rewarded with a cigarette and lighter in his hand.
"Hey, Kylie, what do your parents have in the fridge?" Tre asked.
Kylie walked over to the ancient Refrigerator, and opened the fridge door.
"In terms of food or drinks?" she asked.
Tre, Mike, and Billie Joe looked at eachother.
"Both." Mike said.
"We got, chicken, peas, cookies, brownies, strawberries, coke, dr.pepper, water, milk, and beer." She answered.
"Beer." they all answered.
Kylie rolled her eyes, and passed a beer to each of them.
They all popped their bottles open, while Kylie grabbed a coke.
"Come on, have one." Tre offered, and held out his drink.
Kylie hesitated.
"Just one." Mike said.
"Fine." Kylie agreed, and took the drink.
She tasted it, and a bitter look came around her face. But she soon got used to the taste, after finishing her first bottle.
